This is a two person operation highly suggested. I like this product much better because it's heavy duty film. The film does insulate from drafty windows when installed properly. If this is your first time using the product, definitely watch YouTube for instructions. Also use alcohol to finish the cleaning process of your surface to prep for the tape. That does make a difference. This is my second time using the film and I really like it. Saves me money on heating costs and it lasts all season. From time to time, you may have to apply new tape to corners but you have extra on the roll for that. I have two cats who are window watchers and neither has attempted to scratch the film off. So be weary with feline pets.

Material is of heavier construction and take just slightly longer to heat-shrink out the wrinkles. Put it on day after purchase. This is the fourth time I have used similar products, but no one as heavy duty as the Duck brand appears to be.

At first look, I was overwhelmed by this project, but it was much easier than I thought. I found that it's best to take off the top strip first, then the sides, then the bottom. The kit has the plastic and the double sided tape, you will need something to wipe down surfaces with, scissors, and a cleared spot on the floor the size of the width of the plastic that you get. I spread enough plastic for the window out on the carpet first (vacuum first so that debris doesn't get on the plastic) and then when I had the tape up, I walked it to the top part. Hope this is helpful. :) Product survives 7 cats:)

Cheap way to prevent heat loss

I live in a 50 year old house with drafty windows. No matter how much i increased the heat the upstairs rooms always remained at 55F. I got a quote to replace all the windows for $5000. After reading the reviews I decided to try this option. It takes a little bit of patience to install especially cutting the film to length. The tape given needs a bit of effort to peel the white cover off. However since installing this my rooms have maintained a temperature of 61F. I would definately recommend these for preventing air drafts and heat loss.

My kids broke my back window and until i can afford to replace the glass I need something to use

    • A. Have used it on cars as it is thicker than most alternatives. Just use Duct or Gorilla tape on the outside of the window to hold it in place. Much better visibility than regular plastic. Temporary only, but it works...

    • A. Thank you for your question mzpurple! We have not tested for use in automobile applications. The window film would block air flow, however would not be entirely impervious to the weather or driving conditions. The biggest concern would probably be whether or not the tape will stick to the car surface (i.e. if it is fabric or vinyl) depending on how you would need to apply the film.

    • A. This item sticks to glass (using a blowdryer, cling system.) It wouldn't be any more effective than just taping plastic around your window as far as a broken one goes.
