This product deserves a 5/5 rating for helping with energy efficiency and for (unexpectedly) decreasing a long-standing odor problem in my house. All you need are the socket sealers, a screwdriver (flathead and/or Phillips as needed), and a putty knife to slide under each cover and loosen it if it sticks to paint on the wall. The foam sealer's openings for the screws and outlet/switch are true to size and placed perfectly. The sealers are thin enough that the cover will still fit snugly to the wall after you replace it over the sealed outlet cavity. Surprisingly, it may also help with odors. In my detached house in North Carolina, cigarette smoke seeps in every day, even after encapsulation of the crawlspace and attic. After I placed the socket sealers throughout the house, the smoke odor was noticeably decreased for the first time. Who would have guessed that one of the cheapest and easiest repairs to the house would have an impact on the annoying smoke odor problem.

Very inexpensive way to help keep drafts from my 80 year old house. I used 20 of them and felt cold air moving around behind most of my outlets and switches. I figure an electrical box is about 6 sq inches, so if there is just 2 sq inches of air leakage, having 20 of these installed is equivalent to having a window open 1 or 2 inches. I wouldn't leave a window open all winter, so I'm glad I installed these. They are very easy to install. The bigger problem for me was access to the outlets with furniture in front of them. I also had to cut a couple of the sealers to create decora size as the package only included two of them.
Cold Duck Plugs!
After paying for an infrared test on my home for heat loss, we discovered that there was air flow thru the light switches and sockets on all of our internal outside walls. When I purchased this product and began the installation, the air flow was very noticeable. Once I applied the socket sealers, no more flow.
Fantast little sealers
Live in an apt community that repairs are like seeing Big Foot - useless; had several sockets that the cold air could be felt. One by the front door, one by the patio door and one in the bedroom facing the street - installed sealers in all three and it made a difference and, in fact, no cold air sleeping through. This is a great energy saver all year around in my view so well worth the extra effort to cut my electric bill down (keep thermostat at 69-70). Even if one rents, the utility is on the renter; so taking control over what I can to keep my bills manageable. There are multiple shapes to fit whatever one needs; I ordered 2 boxes. Recommend to stop air/heat leaks all season long.
Every little bit helps.
What stands out??? Your wall plate. The wall plate will not be flush as it once was. That is no big deal as anyone with a brain would figure this out even before buying these things. The outlet pads with the big rectangle have a hole that is too big for the kitchen outlets that incorporate a breaker in them. If you need them, just a bit from the inside of the regular wall plate pads and they will fit. These things need to save me around $3 to pay for themselves.
