My mother went to tuffs dental in boston i had to get her home by train the wheel on the wheel chair cracked and broke i want a refund on this chair its a childs chair they should specify it i would like a refund .
It's true this chair is built for economy but still sturdy enough. Not sure about the wear life of the plastic wheel spokes and hard "rubber" tires (feels more like hard plastic). I have used it several times now and there isn't anything wrong or bothersome about the chairs overall design. Wheel locks could be better as the hard plastic tires don't allow them to grip tightly or as tight as one might like during transferring with a transfer board. If you can stand to transfer then likely you will not notice. Foam hand grips for pushing chair kinda thin so if doing a lot of pushing around wear gloves. Also hand wheel grips for self maneuvering are plastic not smooth metal like more expensive chairs. You will need gloves to protect hands for braking as the plastic has slight texture and can cause friction even on slight declines. In most cases I'm getting pushed around so not a big issue for me. I bought it mostly for pool use as its cheaper than the pool/transfer chairs and more versatile. Yes not aluminum so might not last but for the price it doesn't matter to me.
I bought this wheelchair for my husband who suffered from a broken leg. The leg rest supports are already coming apart at the seams. Another part fell out from underneath the chair, I couldn't find where it came from, but it must not have been a crucial part as I haven't noticed any malfunctions. I am very disappointed in Drive Medical as I have bought many medical items from them and they were well made. This Blue Streak wheelchair is a bummer. It started coming apart at the seams after very little use as my husband spent most of his time in the hospital or rehab center where he used their equipment.
Due to other medical problems, he will be using a wheelchair for a long time. I will look for one other than a Drive chair. Very disappointing to have wasted the money I s pent on this chair only to have to buy another one so my husband will not have to use a ragged looking chair.
My wife has COPD, the last stage. It's very hard for her to get out she's on oxygen 24/7. with this chair I now can take her flea markets, out for lunch and dinner, and I do not have to worry about the chair, I'm 72 and needed a fine product. Wal Mart delivered what I needed. Thank you
