Thank you to Edelweiss and Shadow Mountain for advanced access to this title. Fablehaven is hands down one of my all time favorite series and I always use it when talking to kids about reading something new. That being said, I had no idea that a new series was starting. Dragonwatch happens after book 5 of Fablehaven and in this new series the Dragons are no longer content and threaten to destroy the world. A new caretaker must be appointed to Wymroost, however there is no one to appoint so Grandpa Sorenson is approached and must then ask Kendra and Seth if they wish to become caretakers even though they are still so young. With new found abilities (Seth is a shadow charmer and Kendra has been granted fairykind status) can they save the sanctuary from destruction and ensure that the King of the Dragons, Celebrant, doesn't kill them??? I've been searching to see how many books will be in this series and have yet to find anything but rest assured Fablehaven and Brandon Mull lovers, there is still so much to be done!
About This Item
In the hidden dragon sanctuary of Wyrmroost, Celebrant the Just, King of the Dragons, plots his revenge. He has long seen the sanctuaries as prisons, and he wants nothing more than to overthrow his captors and return the world to the Age of Dragons, when he and his kind ruled and reigned without borders. The time has come to break free and reclaim his power.
No one person is capable of stopping Celebrant and his dragon horde. It will take the ancient order of Dragonwatch to gather again if there is any chance of saving the world from destruction. In ancient times, Dragonwatch was a group of wizards, enchantresses, dragon slayers, and others who originally confined the majority of dragons into sanctuaries. But nearly all of the original Dragonwatch members are gone, and so the wizard Agad reaches out to Grandpa Sorenson for help.
As Kendra and Seth confront this new danger, they must draw upon all their skills, talents, and knowledge as only they have the ability to function together as a powerful dragon tamer. Together they must battle against forces with superior supernatural powers and breathtaking magical abilities.
How will the epic dragon showdown end? Will dragons overthrow humans and change the world as we know it?

As a Children's minister I try to read a fair amount of books that the kids that I work with read. Several years ago one of the kids told me about the Fablehaven series and I have been in love ever since!!! Brandon Mull is one of the most creative authors out there! I can't recommend all of his series enough. Sometimes the decisions that we make for the right reasons have unintended consequences. Join Kendra and Seth as they try to as they struggle to handle new problems in a world where magic is real, dangerous, and unpredictable. I can't wait for the next 4 books!!!

Dragons vs. humans: This is the plot to the sequel series to Fablehaven. After the events of the last book, the dragons have begun to resent their imprisonment in the dragon sanctuaries and are revolting against those who keep them in there. Dragonwatch isn't quite as charming as the first Fablehaven book. It starts off rather slow with lots of mentions to the past five books in order to refresh the reader's memories of the events that led to the current situation. Despite the sluggish pace of the beginning of book this was still a fun read and is engaging enough that I am absolutely going to read the second one. I would recommend this book for those who love fantasy, dragons and, of course, loved Fablehaven.--RR

I got an eGalley of this book from NetGalley to review. I really loved the Fablehaven series and was excited to hear that there was going to be an extension of this series. The book ended up being okay, it was good but didn't blow me away. I think maybe I've been away from these characters too long. The bulk of the story basically involves Kendra and Seth being forced to take over as keepers for the Wyrmroost sanctuary. It was an interesting story and I enjoyed learning more about the dragons. All of our favorite characters were back in the story which was fun to see. Unfortunately I kept having trouble staying engaged in the story and constantly found my mind wandering. I am not sure if I am just older and don't enjoy the tone of these books as much or if the storyline just wasn't as exciting as previous books; but I did struggle a bit to finish this. Overall this was a decent continuation of the Fablehaven series. I didn't like this as much as previous Fablehaven books but there were some parts with the dragons that were interesting. I guess I would recommend reading if you are a fan of the original series. I don't think this book stands alone very well, so I would recommend reading the original Fablehaven books first.
