I think it is a great product overall but I do have some complaints. First, for the initial warm up, you get three solid bricks, that they expect you to break in half once, and then again in half. This product is described to help people who have arthritis. I am a 27 year old who is decently strong and could only break one of the bricks in half. I even tried cutting into it and it didn't work. So I just threw them in there the way they are, I am guessing this just caused much longer for the first warm up. But eventually it did all melt no problem. Secondly, I am 5'11 so I am tall and have larger feet and hands than average so I already knew my feet would never fit, but my hands fit but didn't go up my wrist as I would have hoped. Besides these two things it is a nice machine. The wax is very good and they even give you plenty of plastic bags and mitts to keep on your hands.

The price of this item was very reasonable and with the Dr. Scholls brand I expected a quality product, however, we had a couple of issues. The first issue we encountered was the amount of wax that was included-----there was just 2 lbs of wax which was not adequate to provide enough wax to dip the entire hand. The second issue we had was in trying to completely coat the hand with wax, his finger touched the metal plate at the bottom which caused a red painful spot ----almost like a blister. We are going to try to buy more wax so that when the hand is dipped in, it would be less likely to touch that bottom plate.

Paraffin Bath Is 5 Stars, Scented Wax Is 0 Stars

I love the Dr. Scholl's Paraffin Bath for my hands. It relieves arthritis pain. I recommend the paraffin bath. The only complaint I have is that the ad said nothing about the included wax being SCENTED. The ad stated that 3lbs wax was included. The "rain" scent is excessively strong and smells nothing like rain. Even my husband found the scent to be offensive and asked me to remove it from the house. I am awaiting delivery of unscented wax, purchased online. If the ad had stated that the wax was scented I would have moved on to find a paraffin bath that stated unscented wax was included. Include unscented wax with the bath and let the customer purchase the scented wax of their choice when they purchase replacement wax. Dr. Scholl's Paraffin Bath itself deserves a 5 star rating but I gave it a 4 for the offensive scent of the wax. The ad should have stated that the included wax was scented.

I was offered by a manicurist to paraffin my hands for only $10. So I decided to look for one at home. I found this set as the teast expensive on the market. I works well so far. It does take a long time to melt and then you need to wait to let it cool down to a temp that is comfortable for you. I usually plug it in when I get up on Sundays. I do my errands etc and when I am ready the wax is melted. I turn the temp down to let it cool for about an hour which is about right for me. It took some trial and error but I can paraffin my hands and feet for a fraction of the cost at a salon.

This works great and the price can't be beat, I checked other sites that wanted $40 for the exact same one. It keeps the temp and I use it daily on my hands for pain relief only, NOT for a beauty routine. Works on arthritis, soothes for a while and also temporarily helps mild nerve pain. Bonus, your hands will be as soft as when you were a child. We keep it plugged in and on "warm" setting 24/7. Would highly recommend this, it would be a great gift for a parent or grandparent with arthritis, something they would NOT normally not buy for themselves, yet they will love it once they have it. My partner and I both use it, we are still using the original wax, it will last for a VERY long time before needing to replace with new wax. Be careful, it is quite warm on the lowest setting, so check on a small area of hand or finger before plunging in!!

Purpose is to retain heat longer to allow penetration. Found the mitts more pleasurable for folks with arthritic conditions, I don't use them but my mom & mother-in-law do...
