Manuals & Guides
My son loves it, but It's slow and has no traction unless it's on the pavement. I ordered a second motor, gear wheel, and battery from Huffy to upgrade this cool looking car. I didn't have to modify the body of the car, but I did have to reverse the polarity of the second motor, and wire the batteries in series. It now goes twice as fast, and goes off-road.
50/50 on recommending this item
This product is good for parents/kids that only intend to ride it in the yard. The battery life is only good for 45 minutes; so, for me and my son that was a bomber because we would be in the middle of a walk around the neighborhood and then his car would die and I would either have to carry it or call and we would get picked up. However, it does look like the picture and it is a cool little car and it was great for when he rode it around the house but it is not for taking strolls.
Didn't hold a charge
I purchased this car on 6-10-17. I let it charge for a whole day and the car barely made it out of my driveway. I allowed a few more hours of charging and it died again. I will say the overall look of the car is really cool looking. I have reached out to huffy with no response, so we ordered the fisher price power wheel. This one is going back to the store today.
Needs many improvments
First off, if you have a flat concrete area to ride its OK. Leaving our driveway for the yard, which is very flat, is a no go. This thing has zero traction, when it does get traction it is so under powered that it cannot go. It will barely pull my son. Now, I realize they need to be slow so kids don't get hurt. That said it needs to be 12 volt and at least 2wd not one wheel peel. We haven't even ran the battery down the first time and now it won't even go forward. It would make a cool project if you could buy a second gearbox and the wheel adapter. As it is it's a waste of money. Also the red engine button that turns off and on the motor was a poor idea.
Seriously, Do Not Buy This!
I wish I could post the look on my two year olds face when this didn't work on Christmas morning. Assembly was a breeze but it was all downhill from there. After seeing Lightning McQueen under the tree and jumping for joy, our son nearly cried when he drove the car two feet only for the drive wheel to disengage. Time and time again, the drive wheel would slip before completing a full rotation. My husband was able to wedge a wooden block between the drive axle and motor and the car was finally functional... for 2 minutes. After 2 minutes of fun, the battery, that we had charged continuously for more than 8 hours, died and wouldn't recharge. This product is awful and must be avoided. The Power Wheel Lightning McQueen could be better, we've had good experiences with our Paw Patrol quad. As for replacing this hunk of junk, we bought a Rollplay VW bus and are highly-impressed. Fortunately, our son loves buses so it wasn't too disappointing for him in the end. We just told him his McQueen car broke down and the mechanic couldn't fix it.
