This is my first gaming laptop and it is an amazing experience for me. I love this computer it runs Rust like dream and other games amazingly. I bought this expecting the best and that is what I had received. In conclusion of my review I am going to say this is the best laptop I could have gotten.

Took a long time and did lots of research, looked at a lot of laptop models, shopped retail stores, online sales, this G7 just felt like the right choice for me. Containing all the specs I wanted at the price I was willing to pay, it has been a rewarding experience. Once it arrived, the positive comments I had read online before I purchased, were all confirmed. It is blazingly fast, and the tactile feel of the keys are solid and reassuring. Love the dark grey finish too. I couldn't have found a better machine.
excellent performance with a few drawbacks
The performance of the laptop is top notch, comparable to much expensive laptops out there. The speed is fast, and the battery life is ok. However, one thing I hated about the laptop is that the fans are too loud. When I am running CSGO and other games, the fans are louder than the in game audio.
I purchased my 7790 (the one with the 144hz screen and a 2070 Max Q)just over two weeks ago. It is well built and has a really nice look and feel. The most important thing though is how well it runs. I run it with an HTC Vive and they make a great combo. Everything runs smooth as silk. I am very happy with my purchase.
Experienced PC technician standpoint.
Very nice fit and finish. The keyboard is snappy, typing is quick and precise and the key layout is great. The RGB zoned lighting is very nice as well. 5 stars for chassis and keyboard feel.
I/O is also amazing. There is a charging port, USB 3.0, mini displayport, and the RJ45 ethernet Jack on the backside which makes it very comfortable in your lap on a couch, or on a desk to keep things out of the way. A+ there.
Performance falls a but short, the cooler design isn't the best, CPU thermals will exceed and stay above 90c but it will not throttle, my unit can stay at 4.0 GHz with a - 0.125 undervolt. The GPU hits around 1600 mhz which is fine and never exceeds 70c.
Overall, there obviously can be improvements, but this is far and away one of the best laptops I have ever used. It's bigger brother being the Alienware M17 shares alot internally. Save your money, buy a G7!
For the price...
I had this laptop for about 2 weeks. From what I've done and tried; it holds up pretty good. The only problem I have is that a certain update keeps giving me the BSOD and sometimes it random. I rarely get BSOD on my old computer. Another thing is the fan is quite noisy even in a loud room. The 4k screen with a wide display does make a worth to buy!
Could be better
For the specs this laptop has, the price is pretty good. but there are a few problems. 1. When the laptop starts working hard - the fans can get pretty loud. but that's understandable, this is a gaming laptop. 2. the customer support was not helpful when I had a problem. I had problems with the RGB keyboard, the only thing I had to do was uninstall Alienware command center and reinstall it, but all the support center could do was to send me to a lab. but the worst thing about this laptop has to be the touchpad. and I'm talking about gaming with it, I'm talking about simple day-to-day things. it clicks on it's own, drags things around when I scroll and all around misbehaves.
EVERY New Dell Has to be Wiped and Reinstalled (Blue Screen Issues)
Every Dell I bought has to be wiped clean and Windows re-installed. I just bought this laptop and had a couple of things happen. One, the mouse froze, and everything froze, then that blue screen showed up. The webcam is glitchy when it records. You can see it in the videos when things digitize, making it look like it has a bad connection. Sometimes clicking on things, whether on a web browser or a program, it does nothing. And all four times I've bought a Dell, I always have to wipe everything from my system and do a complete reboot. Then I have to spend hours re-installing and updating all that software. Its getting old. Dell needs to do something about this, or tell the shippers and middlemen to stop tossing the laptops around like pillows during transport and storage.
Slim and nice, but the lid structure makes it too fragile
After a week of use I have noticed straight scratch on the display. As it turned out it was the edge of keyboard dent leaving that mark when lid is closed and even a little presser applied to it on the top. One week and it looks used. I hate to be using films but I guess I am going to have to.
Lagging games and hot laptop
When I use the laptop to game (tested it on gta5, far cry 5, hitman 2, assassin's creed - origins) after 1 minute the laptop fans go crazy, it starts getting hotter and hotter, the game starts lagging like the laptop can't handle it. The GPU can't keep up with the game? How can a laptop get so hot it burns my legs if I keep it on my lap after only 2 minutes of gameplay? Any fixes? So disappointed in it, I bought it 1 month ago...
