My sister came visit me last winter and she got one when it was $899. When I checked the current prince I saw it went down a little bit and decided to buy one for me. She assured me it is great laptop, she is a graphic designer and needed something potent for the softwares she uses. So I bought another one for me. And it's been great!
This is a great gaming computer.I have put it thru so hard long gaming and it runs great.I was able to play games like Fallout 4,Border Lands 2 etc with out any problems.I love the sleek design of it.I have found that while it runs great you will still need a lap top fan under it just to help it out.Other wise you will wear it down faster. The laptops fans don't stay running all the time unless you do some heavy gaming. But when they do turn on they are not real loud. There is some noise but its not loud enough to get you in trouble at the library. The only bad thing about this laptop that I can find so far is that while gaming the battery only last maybe 2-4 hrs.But if you are just doing some school work and playing music in the background it will get you about 7hrs.Over all I love this computer I will list a link to the fan that I recommend for it. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M715BCV/ref=psdc_14770845011_t2_B016PMVM7Q
I've had it for 2 weeks. So far I love everything about this PC. I've only one software problem with Windows 10, that I have to take up with Microsoft. This doesn't affect the operation of the computer. I purchased it because it has an i7 processor and a gaming video card. I'm happy.
Its a good laptop. I received mine with bios 1.4.1. You need to upgrade your bios with 1.9 (whatever the latest) so the laptop will not get overheated. There are lots of posts on internet about it. Few things I am not crazy about, the touch pad and display screen. Both a little bit flimsy but overall the laptop is good. I got it for $750 plus tax. Also, I did buy it in April but when you enter service tag (its on the bottom of your laptop) Dell website shows warranty expiration in February next year..so 10 months instead of 12.. I do not know why.. may be this is when Walmart got it from Dell? https://www.dell.com/community/Customer-Care/Dell-Warranty-for-laptop-purchased-at-Walmart/td-p/6229630
Awesome laptop that runs any program I through at it. One star was deducted due to it getting really hot when the CPU boost turns on. There is a very simply solution to the overheating problem. Go into the power management settings and set the power of the CPU to a max of 99%. This will prevent the boost from ever turning on. The performance before and after limiting the boost is the same, or at least I cannot tell a difference.
I am NOT a gamer... I will start my review on that note... This computer lags, I wanted to love it to replace my faulty Acer but, alas, I've got to return this Dell and get another Acer (I'm going to try the E5-576G-81GD). Not impressed. I purchased this laptop last week at Walmart (I live in a small town where almost all electronics stores are an hour+ away driving distance aside from Walmart
I would not recommend this at all. Visually it looks nice, it generally works fine unless you actually try to do something on it then it gets so unbelievably hot you worry about it melting something. I am not embellishing in the least. Even simply downloading something makes it hotter than any laptop I've ever had working its hardest. It's a “gaming laptop” but I can't trust playing a game on it. Maybe solitaire. Get something else. Anything else.
Strong budget laptop, but overall disappointed with my purchase. I've had this for 3 months now, it constantly crawls hovering close to the 8gb it came installed with. I've had the system blue screen multiple times while doing somewhat normal activities. I think the problem is that Dell has so much junk installed by default, you really need to go in and remove it. I'm also not a fan of the disjointed monitor, I feel like it will break eventually. I do enjoy the color/layout of the keyboard. 2/5, wish I never bought but can live with it.
So far the product gave me 3 unresponsive status, only a forced reboot make the laptop back to work again. The gaming bundle offered is not available 6 weeks after purchase. They will tell you (WalMart´s Customer Resolutions Department) that your best bet is ask for your MasterCode Gaming Bundle with the vendor (DELL). Then the vendor tells you that this offer is a matter of the retailer. Waist of time for something that other retailers fulfill for their customers without any issues. Don´t get misled by the gaming bundle offer, is not a value added instead is a waist of your time.
