Great pc but cpu fan is crazy super loud

Got the x51 in on July 19th 2012. My only complaint is that the cpu on 1st boot up was loud, where you can here it all through the house. Hopefully it is the cpu fan that i should be recieving today, if it is not the cpu fan then must be the motherboard which i hope they can send off and have a tech install it. Wish Dell( Alienware) will test their computers before shipping them of. They can fix any problems right away and the the customer recieve a great product instead of calling in and waiting for the pc to run like it should. That should be an easy fix instead of waiting for the customer to call in to complain about whats going on. Im attaching a video of what the cpu fan sounds like.

So, it's been 3 weeks since i got my X51 and i now consider myself well experienced to write a review. Design: The X51 has a very unique design and is probably the only pc which is so slim yet so powerful. 10/10 Performance: I have the i7-3770 processor with gtx555 card along with 8GB RAM. It is absolutely powerful. I can play almost all games on ultra at 1080p with 35+ fps. I was very concerned about the gtx 555 gfx card, but it is much much powerful than i had expected! 9/10 Overall: Overall I am very satisfied and happy that i spent my money well. I would highly recommend this to my mates and anybody who wants to enjoy high end gaming. 9.5/10

Four weeks ago my X51 arrived at my home and i have to say i am very impressed with it. Now i will start of by saying this is my first gaming pc, i have been gaming on pc for a while and put some work into my other desktops, graphics cards, memory, etc. I purchased the i7, model 8 gig ram, GTX 660. Bought it for a gaming pc as i've said and i have been able run everything i play on the max settings from Planetside 2 to Rift to SWOTR. Not only is the performance great it also runs quieter than my 360 or my ps3. The design is sleek and looks great at my desk or on my entertainment stand, only problem there is that it makes my 360 and PS3 look cheap lol. As of the first month with my X51 i really don't think i could be happier. My only complaints would be that when it arrived the box in came took damage on the trip somewhere b(and yeah may not have been dells fault just thought i would add that it was) and that it is pricey but i do feel like ni'm getting my money's worth.

This was my first Alienware computer and I couldn't be happier. I chose to go with the baseline version as I don't need every game to run on ultra (come on..there isn't a huge difference), and am amazed by how fast this computer is. After reading many reviews I was cautious about potential problems some of you have been getting (bsod and more), so I made sure to update everything right after hooking it up. I only experienced 1 random restart. The computer is dazzling (love the lights), and runs whisper quiet! Pros: Pretty much everything! As for shipping, I ordered it on a Monday and received it the following week Tuesday (with basic 7-day shipping), which is far faster than what I expected (some said up to or over a month!) Cons: I have yet to honestly find any problems, as so far it's held up with everything. Oh I guess I did have to buy a DVI-VGA adapter (as there is no VGA port), but that's not really a problem. Extremely impressed so far and hope that this computer will last me for many years.

First off, this is my first "gaming" computer so I may be a bit of a noob in all this, but I have to say I am really happy with this rig. FYI I got the i5 and the gt 640 so I wasn't expecting crazy incredible gaming bliss. What I got (and I've only had the computer for 2 days) was a seemingly competent high end gaming PC. I am considering upgrading the gpu but I decided to install far cry 3 just to see what the x5- could do and.. Wow! Ultra/high settings mix and the game looks amazing! There was a 3-5 day delay on the shipping but they sent me an email and I'd rather have everything be as awesome as it is 3-5 days late than a rush job. Honestly I got the "lower end" product here, and I'm impressed. I WILL BE purchasing another alienware computer in the next 3-5 years if this one continues to perform like this. I know I sound like a fanboy or something but I don't care. This is what I wanted. A machine that could beat my consoles, and that's what this does. Peace

I consider myself an extreme gamer but I don't need all the high end hardware that is out today. I've read many postings on how owner's of the X51 will upgrade this and upgrade that. They aren't the brightest. Depending on type of gaming you will do there are 4 base models to choose from. I myself have the intel core I5 with the gtx 555 video card with only 6gb or ram memory. It has been running Diablo 3 really well. My cousin has the intel core I5 with the gt 545 8gb ram memory. Diablo 3 has been running great for him. Overall I love this machine. It has enough power to back up a blu ray movie and play diablo 3 at the same time. (tested by me). But... There is a minor problem which is the wireless adapter. Very weak signal. What did I do? I just took the side panel off. The connection doesnt disconnect every 30 seconds. Please Dell/Alienware. Make a recall or send a better wireless adaptor unit. I'm on this computer so much that my PS3 and Xbox 360 Slim is collecting dust. I want to keep the side panel on. Please.?.!

I received my Alienware X51 in Jan 2013. It is an i7 with 16G of ram, 2tb hard drive, and Nvidia 660 video card. Here are a few high-lites of my system: - It worked fine right out of the box. - Never mind the personalization during ordering. You can make the lighted designs on the sides of the cabinet and alien eyes any color you want. - You can choose or change your Alien wallpaper any time you want. - The X51 fan is barely audible. The cabinet is slightly warm when it runs. - The powersupply is about the size of a brick and rests on the floor. - Since the video card is open GL it runs Solidworks well but without the RealView. - The keyboard has an excellent feel but the letters look like they may eventually wear off. I am not a gamer, but I am happy that I bought this X51. For a little more money, I have a much more stylish, compact, high quality, desktop than I could have gotten elseware. The references to Aliens are kind of fun too.

I purchased and received my Alienware X51 in April (Core i7, 8gb ram, GTX555). It has been a great machine overall, however it has been a bumpy ride. Pros: Runs any newer game like a champ. Excellent value. The top model can go toe to toe with more expensive machines, for a much smaller cost. I play Diablo 3, BF3, Skyrim, Arkham City, and SW:TOR all on settings that put my consoles to shame. Cons: My X51 was handled poorly by the shipper, I had to re-seat the hard drive, and now the case buzzes from time to time. Also, the sales staff failed to mention that the full-sized HDMI port doesn't really work. If you want this machine (and you should, it's a great value) then you also want a mini-HDMI cable, because the full sized one will eventually stop working. Overall yes, I'd recommend this to a friend or family member, however with the caveat that you should have someone who is tech savvy around to give it a once over when you get it.

I have never previously owned an Alienware. And while I always thought they looked cool, I didn't know what to expect in terms of build quality and performance. I am pretty much blown away. The product has far surpassed my expectations. The X51 is completely silent and does not seem to generate much heat at all, partly thanks to the external power supply (what an ingenious idea). This and the form factor make it perfect for a media center. I opted for a mid-range model instead of top of the line hardware, and the thing still screams. I'm playing every new game release with max graphics settings and not one hiccup. I sat here in shock when the computer started changing colors during my game of XCOM:Enemy Unknown. I had no idea such a feature existed! Very cool. Despite being a mini-pc, this thing has everything I could ever need: HDMI, eSata, USB 3.0, you name it. I'm just upset I haven't been buying Alienware before!

I love the product at soon as i popped open the box. I seen it and fell in love with it. It runs everything extremely smooth and fast. No hick-up or lag whats-o-ever.I have no issues with the Wifi card either, no drop signal or nothing. I run all my applications on full graphical settings and never fails to surprise me. I got the Top of the line edition with everything you can think of and everything works. I never hear the fan to tell you the truth. I always turn everything on high settings. Look i was not too sure about buying this computer but now that i am an owner of Alienware X51. I can say now that I shall be a loyal customer from now on. If you are like me with limit space in your entertainment system then this is for you! Look i run this computer on a 55" Vizio at 1080p and it runs over 100 FPS on all games! I am now currently downloading Black Ops II and I believe I will surprise how well its going to run it.
