    As Advertised!!

I have had this printer for 6 months and have no complaints. Software set-up was no hassle. Just follow the simple directions in the box or on screen. All of the advertising jargon is basically true. The statement that it is "no hassle toner management" is absolutely a fact. The full size access panel is on the right side of the printer. Flip the door open and it reveals four rectangular cartridges that are easily removed and snap back into place. There is no need to get out a flashlight, stand on your head, or skin your knuckles. At around 22 bucks each the cartridges are a bit pricey when one considers the inexpensive purchase price of the printer itself. But then we all have the same complaint about the inkjet cartridge scam. The machine has an Energy Star rating. The paper tray probably holds at least a third of a ream of paper; although, I don't load that much. I do newsletters with some color graphics and pictures. The quality of the color is considerably better than an inkjet. I haven't tried printing on heavy stock, but I have used several different stocks that are a bit thicker than normal print paper. No issues with that. My five star rating comes from the fact that I'd readily buy another one of these without hesitation.

    GREAT LITTLE PRINTER

Great Price and does a very good job!

    Good Printer

So far this is a good printer, the only thing that I don't under stand is why does WalMart.com carry the color toner cartridges I have to buy them online WalMart does not carry the color just the black. ??? what is wrong whit this.

Great print quality, poor Mac OSX driver.

I am tired of cheap inkjets which always seem to be noisy, jam, clog, and eventually chew themselves to death with their own motor. So I have been looking at buying a colour laser printer. I wanted a printer which will last a long time and produce consistent prints and I was prepared to pay extra. However it turns out I found a laser printer (the machine actually uses LED technology) for a price you can't argue with. I saw the Dell 1250c in a shop and was very impressed with the build quality. Even spending this little I had confidence in the Dell brand and knew that I would be getting a well-put-together machine. Of course toner is going to be an expense down the road. I can't give a review of the printer's long term performance as I have only had it a day, but so far the print quality is absolutely amazing - easily on par with the laser printer at my work. I'm no expert, but colour printouts seem very accurate to me, better than some from more expensive printers. The printer is very compact for a laser, and although I am not a fan of fold-down paper trays at least there is a sturdy plastic cover to protect the top sheet from dust etc. I like that there aren't any gimmicky features such as touchscreens etc - you just hook up the USB and print. Also, ignore professional reviews when it comes to print speed - mine prints much faster than any other printer I have had before. The motor/fan is quite noisy the entire time the machine is on, but in standby it is completely silent. Note that the first time you switch the machine on it seems to go through some kind of cleaning or toner initialisation cycle which is not mentioned in the manual - this takes about five minutes and you can smell the toner during this process. The one area where this printer is lacking is the Mac OS X driver. All it does is enable the printer to print. I don't like stupid wizards and bells and whistles in drivers, but this driver doesn't even allow you to alter the quality settings (no printing in toner saving mode from your Mac!) and the toner levels are not visible in system preferences. Also the manual duplex mode is not supported, which sounds like it could be really useful. Dell really need to finish writing the Mac driver.
