    A good back-up couch
The DHP convertible futon was given to me as a free sample for a non-bias review. First off, I really love the color. The color is a dark grey and is very modern (as pictured). The fabric is a nice texture as well. For a futon/couch, this came in a few bigger pieces with several screws. The assembly process did not take long and all equipment was provided except a screw driver. Drills are not recommended in order to prevent stripping of the screws. The diagrams on the directions were well laid out as well. The longest process was just getting all the screws in place to connect the futon with all pieces. The futon as a whole feels sturdy and well made. The hinges are a nice modern metal look (as pictured). Once put together, this futon would look nice anywhere in the house, but it is not the most comfortable piece of furniture. It is pretty stiff. This would work as just a piece in a room that's not used a lot or a spare bedroom because of the comfort factor, however, it is easy to recline and lay out fully. Overall, if under 200 dollars this would be a good affordable piece of furniture, but I wouldn't recommend it for daily use because of the comfort level. I plan to use it as a man cave couch.

    Bulky and stiff
Let's start off by saying I'm not really happy with this product. The plus sides and the things I do like about it are the fact that it's pretty sleek, folds up to be put away if needed, is portable for a guest room option, small enough to work for a child's room. What I don't like about it, first of all it sits way too low to the ground. I don't like that the material seems like it would be durable, but is not soft or comfortable at all. It is scratchy and would not be an easy material to clean. I'm not a fan of the way it folds up and out, because for one person to do it all alone it becomes a very awkward bulky project. When unfolding you almost need to have 2 people because of the way it flops around and doesn't sit right when opening. It was very awkward for me to move around, and it is definitely a lot heavier than I thought it would be. It's not soft and comfortable to sleep on, but girl enough to get decent use out of to sit on. This is not an item I would buy.

In love with my Pembroke Convertible Futon

I recently got my DHP Pembroke Convertible Futon, I'm in love I honestly didn't think it was going be this nice. I've have order other futons before and was disappointed because they look very cheap and simple. I was embarrass to have them in my living room. This Pembroke Convertible Futon is very fancy looking. It's a dark gray color. With very good material. Very good stiches , good material , strong metals. Wont break or bend easily. To the matters alot , for the reason i have kids wich are very rough. Last time one of them jump in it to sit and the metal bend. There.went all my money. But not this one. This one is very strong material very well put together. The looks matter because un like the others I wouldn't put them on my livingroom or dinning room. This one is fancy looking . This one when set up to be a couch looks like a real couch. People wont know is a futon unless you tell them. This is a full size couch. Very thick padding in eat. Very comfortable too sleep in. For you or any guest of yours. The best part of all is this futon is reclinable. Not many are. This couch adjust to what ever you like. How ever you sleep the couch will adjust to your body. I recommend this DHP Pembroke Convertible Futon,  too everyone. I have myself order one for my mother. Btw yes they do have different colors for them.

    Love!

I recently received the Dorel Home Pembroke Convertible Futon in the Grey Linen color and so far I love it! The color is great and just as I had expected. I put this futon together by myself in about an hour. It was very easy to do. The hardest part was flipping it over by myself once it was put together. The instructions are very easy to follow. This futon comes with everything you need to set it up except a Phillips head screwdriver. I like how all the tools and hardware were organized by numbers and letters. Pieces of the futon and the hardware were actually stored inside the futon's bottom. All you are pretty much doing is just screwing everything together. It's was really easy, just time consuming. This futon is pretty comfortable too. It's nice and firm. When you want to lay it flat you just pull the back cushions forward until you hear a click and then they fold back. It's very easy. Bottom line... this futon was better than I expected! I thought it was going to look very cheap and feel flimsy but it doesn't at all! It looks great. You should eat this futon! You won't regret it. :)

Great quality futon at this price point

Great quality, little stiff but I liked it. Quite sold construction doesnt look flimsy at all. Looks stylish and great at the price point.

    modern futon

okay let me start out by saying, this is a futon, not a couch, though it looks like a couch it sits like a futon. okay, the futon is shipped in a large square box, the only things need to be assembled are the legs underneath, side arm rests and front panel. its not hard to put together, it took us about an hour, might need help putting together if by yourself. I can understand the comments about sitting on a board, it did feel like that when first flipped it over. it has been up a few days now in my house and people have sat on it more and I do notice its not so board like sitting on it. the fabric is a dark grey and durable. it reclines easy to a laid back position or all the way down. all you do is push the chair backs forward a little and you can hear the clicks of it either catching or it dropping all the way down. super easy to do and they are not heavy. husband fell asleep on it last night in the bed position. he did not like the way it sat at first, but he is liking it more every day. I do want to say that I did add pillows to the sides and I found it tremendously helped it feel better to sit on.

    Convertible Funton

To begin with the set up was a problem with the tools sent with, if my husband had not had a 90 degree battery power screwdriver, he did not feel like he could of put it together of not getting enough leverage with the allen wrench to start the screws. I like that this makes a bed for extra space for company. Although after spending a night on it to try out, it was very uncomfortable to me. The bed was very hard and I personally like a soft bed. Also setting on the couch was not comfortable. But I can say it makes extra setting space and decor does go well with other furnishing. But I could not recommend this to a friend because of the comfort and set up difficulty.

    Modern look but low comfort

I have pros and cons for this Dorel Home Pembroke convertible futon. First let me say it was difficult to put together by myself so I will suggest having two people. I like the dark gray solid color. It is a deep dark gray but the pictures look like it may be black. It is a long sofa type futon that converts into a full size bed. The length is 73 inches. It has a split back design so one person can lounge back or lay down on one side while the other person remains sitting up. However, it lays back a little too much in lounging position so I had to use pillows to prop me up but not sit all the way up. It does not have very thick padding like it states. It is padded but still not very comfortable. The armrests are upholstered but are not very wide nor do they have much padding. I would not suggest resting your arm on them for very long, could cause pain or those pins and needles sensations you get when your arm falls asleep. When making it into a full size bed position, I couldn't get a fitted sheet to stay in place due to the armrest not giving space to tuck the sheet. If you want it for a smaller living space, due to the 73 inch length, it is less than ideal. I will have to give this an average rating. It's not all bad but it's not great either. Think before you decide on this one.

Inexpensive but not so durable if you have kids

My initial thoughts were it looks cute. When it arrived it was not as big as I thought it would be but I thought it should still serves its purpose. I ended up placing it in my bed room instead of the TV room since it isn't that big. It's the same width as my king size bed. I thought it was a good solid product. It is easy to assembly for anyone who has assembled things before. The directions are fairly okay, but should have at least two people assembling the futon. I was alone and was able to successfully put it together but it would have been so much easier and faster with an extra set of hands. If you are up to assembling products it is exactly what you are looking for and can be a good purchase. It could be an inexpensive guest bed that serves its purpose well as long as the guests aren't staying long. Be aware if you have kids that like to climb, stand or jump on furniture. My children have used this to step on to climb into my bed and now after 3 months there is a dent in the middle.

    Not the best Futon

I was very excited when this futon arrived but a bit disappointed when I initially took it out of the box. Assembly is not quick and easy. Even with two people working on assembly it is heavy and it has a tendency to want to wobble around while you are trying to put it together. It took about 2 hours to assemble. It comes with upholstered armrests which provide some seating comfort. The frame is really sturdy but when I took it out of the box a piece of the wood frame underneath the futon was broken. You can't see the broken piece underneath when the futon is standing upright but that does make me question it's durability. The dark grey fabric is very nice in appearance and it has a modern, sleek, design which provides a great style for almost any room. In my particular case, I thought this would be nice for my grandchildren to sit on to watch tv, just lounge, or play video games because it has a split back design which allows for one person to sit up and play or eat while the other one can lay back and rest. This sofa opens into a full size sleeper however it is hard and very uncomfortable. If you plan to purchase this futon for regular sleeping I would suggest buying a mattress to put on top of it. I'm afraid this is one futon I would not recommend buying.
