We didn't want to spend more than $200 on a loft bed so metallic ones were our only option. I've seen (and heard) metallic bunk/loft beds cringe and being unstable but this one isn't. My son is 13 and he built it up with his dad in about 2 hours. The bed can support 200 pounds so there is room to grow!
The bed looks cool and stylish, different from the usual ones, and the X-frame provides more support (I think). You don't have the vertical pillars interfering with the space. It makes the room look bigger, and the bed does not squeak or move if installed properly.
On the negative side, the ladder is not super comfortable on your feet, and the amount of stickers on the different parts of the bed were difficult to remove without scratching it or leaving a sticky residue. Removing them took about as long as putting the bed up!
Overall, we're very happy.
