Worked great
This was recommended by a friend to fill nail holes in my new baseboard. It worked great for that. I have always used DAP products in the past and have always had great results. This time I used it on a new buffet cabinet I was building. Used to it fill nail holes from attaching the face frame and to fill a small gap from trimming out the top. I used it on solid hard maple. Dried super quick, sanded down no problem. I primed and painted the entire cabinet and it turned out great.

Not impressed
I have used the squeeze tube and small tub of this product for fillin in nail holes in the past before painting and it worked just fine. After some kitchen renovations, I had to patch a 5 foot wide by 6 inch high hole, so I decided to try the large tub of this product. I notic d this time that after each application, the resullts seemed almost chalky and not overly hard. I could stick my finger into it and wipe it off the wall easily. I did my final skim coat, washed the walls, painted and my paint bubbled. When I took the bubbles off, it looked like my skim coat didn't bond to the previous layer. I cleaned up the bubbled, repatched the spots, prepped and painted again. More bubbles! Everyone told me to use proper drywall compound, but I had had good experiences with this in the past. I don't think I would use this again for any big repairs after this fiasco.

Great Product! Easy to use.

I had peeling paint in the bathroom, several layers so, it left uneven walls. I used the Drydex spackle. It was SO easy to spread. I loved the consistency! I love the color. That makes it so much easier to tell when it dries! It dries fairly quickly (you can watch the pink fade). I'm very happy with this product. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Great product!

We had a hole in our drywall from the door handle. We used DryDex Spackling and was pleased with the outcome. It goes on pink and as it dries it turns white, so you know when to sand and or paint. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Great product!

This spakling product is awesome! I used it on a few small holes in our drywall and it worked perfectly! Looks great. No mess, easy to use, and no cracking or sanding required. This product is a pink/purple tint, but turns white when ready and finished! Love it! Great size tub of product also. I would highly recommend this easy to use spackling to anyone! My family will be repurchasing this definitely! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Nice product

I used the DryDex Spackling around my house to fill screw holes, scraped up corners and random dings in the walls. When wet it went on pink and dried white. I was able to sand it down, apply some texture and paint. It looks like there has never been any dings. It was easy to use and did not make a mess. I used a spackling putty knife. A knife does not come with it. I would recommend this sparkling!! I'm attaching some before pics. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Excited to try, disappointed to use

Excited to try this product. Applied and waited for pink to change to white. Cool to see that. Then waited two more days before painting. When painting over the patches, they began peeling off. Very disappointed by the results. Went to hardware store to complain. They said I should have used a primer before painting, yet nowhere on the product instructions does it recommend using primer first. Messed up my paint job. Not looking forward to spending another weekend re-doing what I just did.

We're sorry to hear about your experience with DAP DryDex Spackling, based on your description indicating that you observed poor paint adhesion (after the dry time indicator changed color), would likely indicate that there was a film of sanding dust left on the patched/repaired areas. Both primers and paints will struggle to bond properly to a surface with sanding dust or other bond breakers present. While priming may be of benefit, there is no requirement for priming unless your paint manufacturer specifies it prior to top coating. Thank you for posting your review. We're sorry to hear about your experience with DAP DryDex Spackling. Based on your description of repair size, this would be outside of the scope for the use of this product. DryDex Spackling is designed, marketed and recommend for use in minor cosmetic hole and crack filling applications. Large format repairs (especially where depths exceed 1/4") typically require more specialized patching compounds such as DAP FastPatch 30. Paint peels off spackle

paint peels right off the spackle. proper preparation, e.g., vacuuming and wiping off dust, was performed. the underside of the peeled paint had grit from the spackle. now i need to prep the wall again.

Was excited to try it, roommate likes anything pink so the novelty was cool. Mixed it up, applied, waited til it turned white and it cracked. Applied second coat and it cracked again. No bueno.

1. DAP does not recommend or offer a product for "skim coating" surfaces such as you describe. Typically that type of project required the use of a latex modified portland cement patching compound.
