This is an improvement over my mothers Crock-Pot that I used years ago. That one only had high and low temperature settings. I'm old, male and not really into cooking a lot of fancy things, but this slow cooker has made things a lot easier. The most important thing for me is that it has a 'warm' setting to keep food warm as well as the 'high' and 'low' cooking settings. The clear lid makes it easy to quickly check the food you're cooking. It has a handle on the lid that is cool no matter how hot the food is allowing you to remove the lid to add ingredients or stir without needing a pot holder or oven mitts. My first use was to make beef BBQ using 5 lbs of hamburg. It came out perfect. That amount of beef BBQ lasts for several days, so being able to reheat it without ruining it is important. Reheating beef BBQ in a kettle is hard and time consuming because you have to heat it slowly over a period of time and stir it every so often so it doesn't burn. I left the beef BBQ in the slow cooker, so a couple hours before dinner I turned it to the 'warm' setting and took care of other business. By dinner time it was heated perfectly. I fixed a Black Forest ham next. I put it in the slow cooker, added a small amount of water and set it on low for 12 hours. I took the ham out after 12 hours and let it cool before slicing it. The meat is so tender it practically melts in your mouth. Cleanup with the slow cooker is so easy. After it cools, remove the liner and wash the liner and lid with the rest of the dishes.
