As Good as Faber-Castell
I use Faber-Castell, Prismacolor, Derwent and Blick colored pencils. I have no hesitation in declaring that I prefer the Crayola pencils over the Derwent /Prismacolor pencils because 1) Crayola pencils dont "drop powder" during use, and, 2) I can sharpen them easily and get the "blunt" out of the lead without losing the lead itself. The pigment is strong, the lay down is even, and I can exert an enormous amount of color in one section before I experience waxing. The cost of these pencils, and their quality, is outstanding. I wish Crayola Company would go toe-to-toe with the big guys in the colored pencil field and create a collection of 120 different pencils at a cost comperable to their 50 ct collection; I think they could make an enormous dent in the profits of companies like Prismacolor, Derwent, etc. You wont regret getting these pencils, I guarantee you.

Great choice of colors and smooth coloring.

I prefer "map" or "colored pencils" over Crayons any day and the Crayola brand is exceptional. The 50 colors includes any shade I need for my coloring books. In addition, the smoothness or the ease of coloring is very nice to work with. Cheaper "map colors" snag and tear the papers.

Best Coloring Pencils

I bought these to try for my adult coloring books (a current rage which is very relaxing and therapeutical). I love these Crayola Colored Pencils! I decided to try them because there were so many (50) colors. They come pre-sharpened, which is great because you can start using them immediately. They color beautifully! The points last a long time and don't tend to break easily, as other brands do. They sharpen nicely, once needed. I find them far superior to all the other brands I have tried. I would definitely recommend these to others.

Great Strong Colors

Love that they are already sharpened and how strong the colors are. I love to draw all the time and I love all the colors and how beautiful they look on paper.

Nice Pencils

I am happy with these pencils. They have a good variety of colors. They are also a full size pencil, not the short ones. I am using them on an adult coloring book.

1. Taupe and Mauve are included.
by larenca
2. Both Taupe and Mauve are included in the 50-pencil set.
by Gamma22
3. They will not erase completely. Much of the color will come off, allowing you to put another colore over top....BUT that second color WILL most likely show through somewhat, and/or combine with the new color to make a third color. If you want to be able to erase completely, you will have to buy the Erasable Crayolas.
by Alexisjosephine
4. Yes both are included.
by crmzntd
5. I went to the Crayola site, and I don't see those colors on the standard 50 ct, but I believe I saw Mauve on the 50 ct long. If you go to the Crayola site, you can look up various product, and among the product views are a shot of the box back with a color chart. Cursor over the chart and it will zoom so you can see which colors are in which pack
by bibidiva
6. Great question, rmichael! Both taupe and mauve can be found in the 50 ct. pack of colored pencils. We hope this helps!

1. Great question, WaterMark! Our colored pencils feature thick, intensely colored cores for smooth, rich laydown. We hope this helps. :)

2. Dude, it's Crayola. I have crayola pencil and crayon things from 20 yrs ago (my son) and 40 yrs ago (myself) that have not at all faded so I think it's a pretty safe bet lightfastness is not an issue here. The Colored Pencil Society of America has a list of items acceptable and tested for international exhibition, and Crayola pencils are on the list for lightfastness: http://cpsa.org/index.php/?option=com_content&view=article&id=147

1. I see that Crayola answered you previously that this product is not erasable, you may have missed that. This product is not erasable tho it is very blendable, made non-toxic and from re-forested trees- Ya Gotta love Crayola!!! Crayola makes a good range of erasable pencils, all of which are carried by Walmart, or available on walmart.com

2. Great question. Unfortunately, standard Crayola Colored Pencils are not erasable. We hope this helps!
