Just liked other folding chairs you probably encounter.. It is not plastic.

Yes, the chairs are padded, on the seat and seat back. It&#39;s not super cushy padding, but it&#39;s not bad.

On the pictures the chairs look padded, are they?

Roughly 4&#39; X 4&#39; square box and the depth is 6&quot;. Not too heavy, my wife could pick this up to 4th floor. Really amazing how they pack both the table and 4 chairs into that.
