Good when traveling
i received a Conair extreme steamer to try out and see how it works, even though this was a free item my review is honest and based on my experience using it. i found the steamer really easy to use, you just fill it up with water, connect it and youa re ready to go really fast. i already own a big steamer so i was a little doubtful this was going to make a good job, but it is more portable when i have to travel or to steam the curtains... lol! so it was put to test and i was surprised at how much steam was able to produce, this is a little but potent steamer. The trick with steamers is to do it in slow motion so you can take all the wrinkles out of your clothes. That is all, and this will be less time spend if you go slow. my only concern it is that the water compartment it is small but that is something expected as it is portable and handheld, I was able to do 4 tops with one water full compartment which it is ok for me, this will be of great help when traveling. So, bottom line, it does make a good job, and Yes i would recommend because it surprised me how much steam flows through it, i thought the water reserve would last less than it did, but it lasts up well for a couple of clothing pieces.

Ehh
I had thought about getting one of these for years now. So glad that I did not actually get one now that I have tested it. I mean I guess it would be good for somethings like if you had to get something dry cleaned or it was something very delicate her that you did not want to wash. I don't really have a lot of that type of stuff at my house. Are usually just put something in the dryer again for a few more minutes or if it's really bad I run a iron across it real quick so for me both options work. This did not save me any extra time or headache. In fact it did not even seem to take any wrinkles out at all. It just lessened the appearance of them. I don't think it's really meant for a truly wrinkled items. I think it is more for freshening up things that were folded or were in your luggage. Something like that I guess. I tried it on my curtains that had a little bit of wrinkle. They were not thick curtains just unlined silky type and they barely had any improvement to them. I tried it on a cotton shirt that was very wrinkled and it still was wrinkled enough to where I would be embarrassed to wear it. I did notice that this says it can kill dust mites and bedbugs so if that is an issue for you then this may be a good product for that use. I did try it on my sofaTo see how it went. I did not notice any damage. It didn't not make things overly wet. I guess it would be good for killing dust mites on things you can't wash like decorative pillows or anything like that. For me I know that it would just go mostly unused because I don't have time to worry about dust mites. If you have allergies though this could maybe be a great item for you. For me though the Dryer works for 99% of the things I need taken care of.

Even my Fiance' will use it!

I cannot stand ironing. When I met my fiance', I made sure he knew, I do not iron. But steam cleaning is not ironing. It is so much easier, no chemicals are needed, and the steamer heats up in about two minutes. I like that this steamer has a ready green light and also the high and low steaming options are great – my last one did not have these features. The capacity is just enough for one or two garments. I can hang up whatever I'm steaming and effectively have a nice-looking garment in about five minutes depending on the item. I also use it on my throw pillows, window treatments and other fabrics with no issues.

Perfect dry cleaning substitute!

This product is super versatile! To begin with, this handheld steamer is portable, compact, and lightweight. It only weighs about 3.5 pounds, and it heats up within 75 seconds. This is a multipurpose use object, and it can be used on everything from couch pillows, dog beds, clothing, and even curtains. As a warning, ensure that you were only using distilled water with the steamer or else you will compromise the integrity and performance of the product. This product is easy to use, and one fill will last you about 15 minutes of use. This handheld steamer does feature dual heat settings, and is a perfect alternative to ironing or dry cleaning. I like how no chemicals are needed to get my clothes ironed and refreshed ,and when used on linens and bedding, this steamer can kill dust mites and bedbugs. I have use this handheld steamer on a variety of materials including fine silk, and each time I've used this handheld steamer, it did a beautiful job of taking care of my clothing regardless of the fabric. This steamer is lightweight, compact, and portable, and it's features make it a joy to use. I look forward to using this for a long time to come.

A useful tool to have in your closet

The Conair ExtremeSteam Hand Held Fabric Steamer with Dual Heat isn't something you will need very often, or hopefully you won't. But when you need it, you'll be super glad it is in your closet waiting to be needed. Living in Florida—aka the surface of the sun—I wear a lot of active wear clothing. You know, that 100-percent polyester clothing designed to wick away sweat and keep you cooler and dry; all of my polo-style shirts and work pants are this type. They are great, except for one problem. If you don't remove them from the washing machine in less than a minute after its finished, these shirts and pants will get wrinkles that'll never come out, or at least it seems that way. Since polyester is basically plastic you can't iron them without taking the risk of melting them. Even the lowest settings can do this! This is where the Conair ExtremeSteam Hand Held Fabric Steamer comes to the rescue. With a little work and time, you can get those stubborn wrinkles out. Hallelujah!

Impressive little steamer

This fabric steamer is really handy for touching up clothing and getting out wrinkles. It has two heat settings, with the lower setting being about 75% the heat of the higher setting. It is really easy to fill the water compartment (I used purified water to be on the safe side) and use. You just turn it on, pick the heat setting, and wait for the ready light to come on. It heats up quickly: Less than five minutes. You have to press the steamer directly on the fabric, but it takes out the wrinkles quickly and fully. (See before and after pictures.) The face of the steamer is rounded so it glides easily over the fabric. The handle is comfortable. I ran it on high power for a while to see whether it would maintain the steam at the set power level. I didn't notice any variations in steam amount, which I thought was pretty impressive. It's lightweight enough to use easily. It is small enough to take in luggage and use on trips, though I wouldn't call it compact. It might be kind of heavy for airplane trips.

Great steam cleaner

This feels like a very solid product. It is quite large, however it is not very heavy, so it should be easily usable by practically everyone. Heats up in less than a minute and a half, and the onboard tank holds enough water for a few items. 10 foot long cord means you have room to work with it without needing any extensions. One thing I appreciate is that once you release the trigger you can lay it down (probably would stick with a hard surface, in my opinion) and it won't burn anything as the steam stops in just a couple of seconds. The reason for the 4 stars is that it does not take wrinkles out very well. I have two different fabric steamers, and tried several different ones, and nothing I have found will replace a good old fashioned steam iron for removing wrinkles correctly. I tried this on a suit jacket, dress pants, and curtains, and it just simply does not work well enough for my standards. That being said, as a fabric steamer for surfaces you can't iron, this is a perfect tool. So for sofas, pillows, and steam cleaning fabrics this is great, but for removing wrinkles sometimes you just have to break out the ironing board and do it the proven way.

Bridal saver

I looked at my bridesmaid gown the day before the wedding and it was a wrinkled mess. I purchased this steamer before the rehearsal dinner. Steamed my dress that night and brought the steamer to the venue just in case. Good thing I did! The dresses wrinkled easily and I was able to steam 5 girls no problem! Definitely the best purchase I could have made

Useful if you need to smooth out wrinkles fast

If you're not in the market for a traditional iron, you might have seen the steam irons like this one and wondered if they would do as good of a job. This handheld model does a very reasonable job and pretty quickly too. The instructions make it easy to use. It has a reservoir that releases from the handle, where you put some water in for your steam. The manufacturer recommends filtered water to avoid any chlorine or minerals that might be in your water supply. Then you wait for the water to heat up enough to steam. There is a light on the wand that turns green when it's ready to use, and then you can depress the trigger to control how much steam comes out. The shape of this wand makes it kind of awkward to figure out where to stow it while you're waiting for the steam to begin. You can't just lay it on a table, it's hot! You could just hold it while waiting since it doesn't take very long, but that does cut into your getting ready time. I have found laying it in the sink actually works out fine. When it is ready to steam, you are going to need to lay the clothing on a flat surface of some kind for best use. If not a tabletop then up against a wall. That is because you will need to get the wand close to the fabric for the steam to be effective at loosening up the wrinkles. You're not going to get pin-straight creases and perfect smoothness from this device like you would get from a traditional iron, but to get the wrinkles out of a t-shirt and jeans that suffered a luggage mishap or something of that nature, it works quite well.

Great machine

I bought this a month ago and everything works, easy to work with, faster than you can imagine.

Takes Time To Be Effective

I received the Conair ExtremeSteam Hand Held Fabric Steamer with Dual Heat, White, Model GS237 for review. The item was well packaged and arrive undamaged. The Conair ExtremeSteam has a simple look and design. It's size is large enough to provide a good coverage area, but not enough to be cumbersome to handle. The cord is nine feet long, so plenty of room to work with without having to set up right next to the outlet. The water container is easy to fill, though it took a couple of tries to get back in place right. Overall, I had high hopes for this product. Unfortunately, I have to say I was underwhelmed. I hate ironing, so this was a disappointment. It did heat up quickly and was easy to use. However, I tried it on a variety of clothing items, and found that even on high steam it took more time and patience to get the wrinkles out than I cared for. The trigger lock came in handy. Even a gauzy top took several minutes to get all but the deepest wrinkles out. It had been packed away for a while, so to be fair it had some difficult wrinkles in it. It also had an odor to it, which I was hoping the steamer would help with since it mentions refreshing items, but it did not. I did try it on a scrub top that was merely the victim of being carelessly left laying around after the last time it was worn. It had a better dewrinkling rate, but it still took high steam and some patience.
