The item I want to put on the cart is a little bigger than the listed size. It will not matter if I can install the top shelf with the flat side up.

  • A. No, you can not. The sleeves that fit the little black clip in to them are tapered so that they won't fall through. The big side of the taper is on the flat side of the shelf, so you have to install it with the flat side facing down, otherwise it will not slide on.

  • A. Yes, you can mount the shelves upside down (lip pointing down). Actually, the way the thing's designed, it makes the shelves much stronger, because they're welded on the side opposite the lip. Turning the shelf upside down puts the wires and welds on top - unbreakable.

  • A. I have two of the Seville Model# SHE18304 carts and their shelves can only be installed one way to support their rated wight limits. Carts are designed to have the "flat" side up since the shelves have tapered pole openings to allow the slip sleeves to clamp the poles and secure the shelves. I do not see how the shelves can be assembled upside down and still support any weight!

  • A. It does not matter whether you have the shelf 'lip' down or up. It does not effect the stability of the cart.

  • A. I can't see why not - the shelves drop down onto a sleeve that holds them in place - so it appears to me that you could install them either way.

  • A. No--you have to put shelves on with edges up, or they will not lock onto poles properly.

  • A. I didn't measure them, but they're quite large - maybe four inches in diameter. They look like the wheels on a shopping cart, more or less, not like the casters on a little toy tea cart.

Small pieces of black plastic fell out of the box??? THe flat round circles looks like part of the edge broke off. I cannot get the wheels pushed in and the black parts to put around the poles ( slip sleeves ) do not connect or fit- any suggestions -greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  • A. I also had what appeared to be black plastic top caps, but the four poles were already capped. These parts appear to have no purpose. The slip sleaves should be tapered toward the top and will lock on the next indentation downward. Put a little extra umph and the wheels should lock in place.

  • A. It's very simple to put together. Put the two caps together, they don't completely lock, but they will stay put until you put the shelf over the top. They say top on them to know which direction... I recommend turning the cart on it's side to put the poles through. Then the lowest shelf goes on first. I had trouble w/ one wheel, it was a tight fit, but finally got it. It's really not hard to assemble once you get the hang of it.

  • A. I would send it back and get a replacement. If you destroyed the box, order a new one and pack the old in that box and packing. Walmart is really good about returns.

  • A. The flat round circles go in one end of the poles--the wheels on the other end. We had to pound the wheels in to get them in all the way--I just pounded the wheel end on the opened box to keep from damaging the floor. The other black pieces have to go a certain way around the pole between the sections and they snap together--this is where the other person comes in because you kind of have to hold it together as you slide the shelf down over the slip sleeves for a snug fit.

  • A. The "flat" round pieces are only used for shipping and not for assembling the cart. The half round parts have an arrow on them that points up and both halves must have the arrow pointing upward. They snap into position on the upright when the little raised ring on the inside of them fits into the circular groove on the upright shere you have chosen your shelf position. Note that the shelves are made to go only one way onto the uprights and the plastic shelf retainers. The larger end of the holes in the shelves, goes down over the plastic. The tapered hole in the shelf then locks the shelf to the plastic half-piece shelf retainers on the uprights. Placing a drop of oil on the snap ring on the stem of the caster makes for easier assembly. One can also tap it in with a small hammer.

  • A. For the black parts to fit around the poles, did u make sure you are trying to connect the portion marked as top with the other portion which is marked as top. The protrusion on one cap should fit the grove exactly on the other and also make sure you try to slip the sleeves on the double ring grooves until you hear a click sound

  • A. The flat black circles serve no purpose that I could see. It's perfect without them. The slip sleeves don't connect to each other, but they must fit into the grooves in the poles. The slip sleeves are "one way" only, and must have the arrow pointed up.

  • A. The little black pieces that fell out are just packing cushions. Make sure you are not trying to put the wheels on the wrong end of the poles, they should slip in easily. The slip sleeves lock into place when you slide them to your desired shelf level.

  • A. I too had problems getting the wheels in and my husband showed me how they take a little pressure, and to hold them at a slight angle as you push. The small black plastic pieces are just extra parts (I believe). The slip sleeves do not "snap" but if you put them on just above the two marks that are close together and then push them downward they will click into place - Once the shelves are put on they are very sturdy.
