Though I thoroughly enjoyed another of Lauren's books (Laid Bare), this one had problems. I love this author's writing, characters and depth of emotion. But in Coming Undone, the ending was a foregone conclusion by the middle of the book. The rest was simply much too drawn out. I found myself skipping through many pages to get some action or new plot points, but everything was predictable and just plodding along. Had it been much shorter I would have enjoyed it a lot more.

KEEPING IT TOGETHER

Brody Brown has always been responsible for others. After his parents’ deaths, he gave up a promising artistic career to care for his younger brother and sister. Now, with his siblings grown, Brody owns his own business, has a nice house, makes a decent living, and he’s finally on his own.

Elise Sorenson has come to Seattle with her young daughter to find peace. After years as a world-famous ballerina—and just as many years in a marriage gone bad—she’s looking for neither love nor attention. But she finds both when a handsome, honest man befriends her with no strings attached.

More than friends, Brody and Elise discover in each other what they need—wild, physical passion without commitment. But it’ll take a shadow from Elise’s past to make them look beyond what they need—to what they truly desire.

I hate writing bad reviews. I am from the school of thought that if you can't say something nice you shouldn't say anything at all and yet here I am... This book was a huge disappointment to me. I am a fan of Lauren Dane I have read a variety of her other books. I read the first book in this series and liked it and the rest of the series has been on my 'To Read' list for a while. I hesitated because they were priced pretty high but I finally got this one and was excited to finally read it. Like I said it was a huge disappointment. The story drug on forever with nothing happening and would skip big chuncks of time it was almost like the story was just some filler between sex scenes. A few days go by... sex scene... a few weeks... sex scene... a few months... sex scene. The sex scenes were graphic, which I expected, but they were not sexy. They were as boring and mechanical as the rest of the book. The romance was not good, it was a constant stream of internal dialog about how the characters felt but they never expressed it to each other. The ONLY thing I liked about this book was the characters. As individuals they were all great characters but the couple never developed a good 'couple' relationship. I am not sure I can bring myself to read the rest of the series. If you read Laid Bare and liked it and fell in love with the Browns, don't read this one thinking it'll be just as good. Just tell your self Brody fell in love and lived happily ever after, no matter what you think up it will be a better story.

Another in the brown series, this book is about Brody Brown who meets his neighbor, former ballerina Elise Sorenson after she helps him after a hit and run. They develop a friends with benefits relationship, which slowly becomes more. This was a beautifully done romance, with well developed characters and emotions.

Pretty close to a perfect romance. Elise and Brody are great leads. Both are funny, smart, good looking, charming, hardworking small business owners, and good parents. The book had drama that comes from life and not from ridiculous secrets. Seattle, a city I love, is featured being very Seattleish. This would be a 5 star but for Dane's inability to write good evil-doers. Raven is a silly soap opera tramp and the villainous ex-in-laws were cartoonish. Otherwise I am completely feeling the love.

This story was good enough that I kept reading but beyond daily living it only had one plot event that was overshadowed by all the sex and sometime the heroine was overly insecure. Elise and her daughter want to start a new life in Seattle and she is attracted to neighbor Brody with all the tattoos.
