This stove is a MUST for campers
This stove is so reliable, and so efficient. No other small stove compares with it. When you compaire complete systems, pound for pound, inch for inch, this is the most weight, size, and energy efficient stove available. The Coleman single burner stoves take a lot of abuse and still work. You need a stove to be reliable under all conditions; wet, cold, differing altitudes, etc. This stove proves to be reliable over the decades. Although this stove is dual fuel, I recommend using Coleman fuel because automotive fuel is not as clean and eventually clogs the generator and piping. If you stick with Coleman fuel, the stove will work literally trouble-free for decades.

Great to have around in a vehicle.
The stove is basically very good to have. Especially since gas is easy to find. But it is sensitive to any oil residue in the gas and will glog the generator if you use oily gas.

Easy to use

I spent quite a bit of time in the forest near my home and this little jewel is perfect for my outings. I fuel up with unleaded gasoline and off I go. Setup is worry free, a little bit of pumping, open the valve and light it with a ferro rod striker. It generates plenty of heat for quickly boiling water or to cook a full meal. The adjustment valve is responsive and consistent.

Can't ask for any better.

I am a camping/backpacking enthusiast, have been for over 40 years. So when it comes to cooking in the backwoods I can give you very sound advise. There are many ways one can cook in the backwoods. You can use alcohol, canister, or white gas stoves. One can also cook over a camp fire. All of these methods have their merits and downfalls. Without going into detail I have the ability to use all of these methods and the equipment to do it. I like to use white gas because it WORKS in any conditions. High altitude, or cold weather. That is why I have purchased the Coleman Stove here. This will be my second one. The first one lasted me 36 years. A tried and true product that will last for years and work in any condition. The stove is built like a tank with all metal parts. I have never had any problems using this stove, and with a little maintenance will continue to work flawlessly. If you are looking for a great and portable base camp stove, or for an emergency back up stove for home use, look no further. This is the real deal.

Replacement for old Peak 1

I have had a Peak One for maybe 40 years. It has seen a lot of use and served me very well. Never failed me, but was getting glitchy, so I replaced it with this model which is very similar, but a little simper and is dual fuel. I have only tried it out at home, but it seems to work great. Looking forward to another 40 years of use!

Most popular camping stove for Backpaking.

At the Centro Excursionista Loyola in Venezuela we have purchased 20 of these units to be used by the students in their weekly backpacking trip to the El Avila National Park. These Coleman stoves have proven to withstand the stress of being hauled and used by teenagers.

1. No
by campermanbawitaba
2. no case included
by greeenstar
3. No, although I have seen them out there. Coleman did once make them once but for whatever reason discontinued them. I did hear of them being sold on EBay and searched it out, but they are gone before I can get one... Good luck.
by PappaCamper
4. Sadly "no" this single burner stove does not come with the traditional cube carrying case. That is unfortunate, because the case has allowed many of these excellent stoves to last through many decades of hard use. You can make your own case by cutting the bottom half off of an old pair of jeans, sewing up the bottom, and putting a tie string around the open mouth of the bag. The better padding you use to line the bag, the longer your stove will last. Decorate your blue-jean-leg carrying case and be the envy of the camp.

5. No it does not come with a hard shell. Carry case.

6. It does not. Shipped in cardboard box.

1. Yes, but use in a well ventilated area.
by PappaCamper
2. Coleman advises against using this stove inside due to the carbon monoxide it produces. However, that's the reason that I bought one. I tried it out with a window and the sliding door open. Ran it on high for about ten minutes. It smells a little, but I plan to use it the next time the power goes out.
by rmosier
3. Using any gas stove / lantern can have toxic emissions and Coleman doesn't recommend using it in an enclosed area like a tent or house but if you can well-ventilate the area, you should be fine.
by Bravado
4. I believe no, it smells.
by Modestus
5. ABSOLUTELY YOU CAN USE THIS STOVE INDOORS IN A EMERGENCY, JUST KEEP IT NEAR A OPEN WINDOW!
by LIGHTNINGWALKER
6. I use my stoves a lot indoors. ( Coleman is a hobby ) I would not recommend using car gas inside. It can smell and it has additives that may be harmful. Coleman fuel is almost no oder. As others say be sure there is enough ventilation and maybe a fire extinguisher handy. Also be careful around it as pots and pans can be knocked off it very easy. If you are buying a stove just for emergences I would recommend the 2 burner stoves.
by Randy
7. Never use any gas stove inside. Its not worth making you sick or burning your living quarters! You need plenty ventilation! If you are prepping for very bad weather set aside some no cook food sources such as canned meat, fruits, or other things like crackers and chips. These camp stoves are very nice, If you use them right... stay safe
by jerryky
8. I use mine inside. First to test out the "safety of doing so" and then to know if it was good idea or not. My kitchen is large and open to the entire downstairs, and I have 10 foot ceilings so pretty safe as far as that goes. Honestly, I don't believe this is any more dangerous than a normal installed gas stove that some people have at home. Still, common sense and good judgement rule the day!!
by Michael
9. Not unless you can properly vent it. Put it out on the back deck and use it there.

1. Take a quick look at the knob. There will be some writing there stating "Close" and an arrow going in a clockwise direction. Just turn that knob counter-clockwise one full turn and the pump will be open. Place thumb over the hole and begin to pump air into the tank. Easy.
by romulus2271
2. Twist and pull it.
by PappaCamper
3. 1. Make sure the fuel-filler-cap is on tightly. The pump will not build pressure in the tank if the fuel cap is loose. 2. Rotate the pump-knob counter-clockwise (left) about 1/2 turn to open the inside lock. Pump does not work until you open the inside lock. 3. Place your thumb over the small hole in the end of the pump-nob. 4. While firmly holding your thumb over the knob-end-hole, work the pump in and out. 5. My pump takes about 25 strokes in and out to build enough pressure to start the stove. 6. After pumping 25 strokes, close the inside valve (by rotating the knob clockwise - right- 1/2 turn) to lock the pressure inside the stove fuel tank. PapaTwo
by PapaTwo
4. LOL. I did the same thing. I thought I got ripped off. It might take a little more effort than you would expect. Give the pump a counter clockwise turn to release it, pump it up, then tighten it again by turning it clockwise. NEVER open the cap while the stove is burning, or even if it's hot.
by rmosier
5. Turn the pump knob one full turn counterclockwise, pump until pumping gets hard push pump all the way in and turn clockwise to close.
by Maineiyak
6. twist it
by greeenstar
7. read the pump knob 1 turn it's open then pump when it get stiff close turn the other way and your done
by potslinger
8. Turn the pump knob counter-clockwise to open; then pump your air into the tank. To close, turn clockwise until you can't turn the pump knob anymore.
by Karno
9. No it's way too small. It's intended for backpacking/motorcycle camping Etc. where space and weight is at a premium.
