Adequate
My husband and son both drive semi truck and we got 6 months use out of this one ... which is about average, We have bought at least 10 of these in the last 10 years. Keeps things cold but not under 40. degrees. Would be nice if they made a better product geared for truck drivers. Ok for camping though.

Large enough for everything you need for a weekend. Very quiet and reasonable priced. This replaced an exact same item I had for 30 years without problems until it finally wore out.

Bought for off-grid camping. Runs a very small deep cell battery dead in about 8 hours. Overall, keeps lunch cold and works great for road trips. Definitely buy this again. Looked at the ARB coolers and couldnt justify the $800 price tag. Try this out first. Bet you will be happy you did.

As a truck driver I keep purchasing the 40 quart Coleman 12 volt cooler. It is spacious and is reliable for a year at a $100 price tag. I only had one that didn't last a year. Coleman asked me to send them the door of the bad cooler in at my cost. When I did they sent me a replacement that last for over 3 years.
Now my truck has a refrigerator and I'm using the cooler with an adapter in my bedroom at home. This has been good cooler for me and I'm recommending it.

1. Not that I am aware of...
Chrissy, if you desire to have such a switch on any unit you purchase, I would suggest contacting Coleman and ask them what products include such a device...

3. No. It's not needed, as it never gets cold enough to freeze. If ice does collect on the heat-sink fins inside the top, turn it off for 5 minutes, and it melts off. It will be about 32 degrees cooler inside, than the outside air around it.

5. The Coleman PowerChill does not have a temperature cutoff switch, nor does it have an adjustment switch for greater or lesser cooling capabilities. You plug it in, it's on; you unplug it, it's off.

6. I don't think so. It is made to automatically keep inside temp cooler than room temp.

7. It does not and runs continuously, altho, not noisily. If you use it continuously, you should open it a couple of times a day so it does not freeze up and, especially, do not keep it outside running in cold weather since it cools to a certain number of degrees below current temperature (I forget exactly how many, but it's about 20-30).

8. No. Ours does not. When plugged in will cool to the max in 3 hrs. If the temp is 80 degrees F, the cooler will be about 40 degrees F.
On average the cooler will be about 40 degrees F.

10. No, this item does not have a temperature cutoff switch. It is recommended to keep cooler full so items will not freeze. Not for use with ice. Water will damage motor.

11. No it only cools to 40 degrees cooler than the outside temp. so if the air outside the cooler is 80 than the cooler will cool to about 40

4. No, it does not. A friend told me they had one that cooled and warmed and sometimes they got the connection wrong and arrived at their destination with cooked contents when it was supposed to be cooling. I pretty much have access to microwave ovens when I travel so I'm glad I didn't get the heating one.
