    • A. Yes.. it is a stainless steel grill...which is also removable.

    • A. It's a grate, similar to a gas grill, so you can use with or without pans. Or put your food in tinfoil and throw out on. If you use a pan it will get a lot of charcoal on it from the fire.

    • A. Yes. Do recommend you cover it with aluminum foil first to make it easier to clean up and then store after using.

    • A. We cook directly on the grill. Can't recall using a pan but by adjusting the distance from the fire you should be able to. Just don't "cook" your pan.

    • A. The grill is a 17" circle that does not bend. The poles are shock-corded and the four sections per pole laid flat are 17" x 3 1/2" x 1". The poles should fit in most backpacks.

    • A. Everything is very compact besides the actual grill. The post's can easily fit in a backpack since the legs are similar to the post for a tent.

    • A. yes, it breaks down to like 1 1/2 foot poles. The only thing that wouldn't fit in a back pack is the grill. its about the size of a large pizza

    • A. the poles fold down to like short tent poles, so thoes would fit in a pak, but the grill itself is like 18" across. you may have problems with that. My dad goes up to the BWCA and he hikes in with one of these grills.

I was very pleasantly surprised by this, I honestly didn't expect much for the price. It comes in a nice, small, reusable box. The tripod legs are connected like tent poles so set-up is very easy. It is a great height for over the fire, is light enough to easily move, and it's easy to move the grate up and down while cooking. We used it the entire weekend to cook all our meals on and I have no complaints.

We bought one of these in the store for my husband for Christmas about 12 years ago and I am ordering one now, with the only reason being the chain broke a few years ago (the chain that is inside the leg). We would always just attach the leg, but now I am finally ordering one. We had been looking for one in the stores and we never could find one. Another review said: You can't find them in stores any longer. By the way, we used this to keep water hot but we also made homemade chilli and homemade soups while camping. We do lots of fall and winter camping. ENJOY!!!

My family and I took this tri-pod grill on our yearly camping trip and it worked fantastic. It's very easy to setup. We chose this over a grilling camp grate because of how adjustable it is over the campfire. We grilled fillet mignons over it and they were great. The only thing you have to worry about is making sure you got a good pair of gloves on if you plan on moving it off the fire because those rods get hot!
