Do not buy

Wow I am so surprised this game got alnost 5 stars in reviews. Apparrntly those who gave it 5 stars never had an original game. 1) Squares are TOO small for the movers and two tokens simply cannot occupy one square. Even one token is too big for one square. 2) Numbers are TOO small for a child's eye and even for a grown ups eye. 3) Arrows pointing the direction are hard to see In a nutshell, it is too hard to differentiate one square from another, one number from another. I do not know why Hasbro chose to downsize this classic game THAT BAD, but they obviously went too far on this one. I do love the colors and graphics on the classic vintage version of it. I am returning this game because it is completely impossible for a child to spot anything on it.

wish I'd bought snakes and ladders

Chutes/Snakes and Ladders is a classic game for teaching young kids numbers up to 100, and basic game-play (taking turns, dealing with bad luck, etc. etc.). Snakes and ladders wasn't in stock so I bought this game instead. Can't go wrong with it... right? Well the board is so cluttered with cartoons it's hard to see the squares. Worse, the squares are just different shades of green, with no black borders so they would be a little hard to see even without cartoons. I drew back lines on it myself with a thin permanent marker and it is way better now. For young kids playing their first board game, its very confusing. Once our Xmas bills are paid, I will still be buying Snakes and Ladders to replace this. Also good to know is that it comes with spinner instead of a dice. The spinner works better for little hands, but kids do need to learn dice eventually.

Junk, not suitable for small children

We went to the game section in Wal-Mart specifically looking games for our little ones. Chutes and Ladders is a classic, so that's what we got. What a mistake! There are only three pieces so we had to use game pieces from other games for four of us to play (my youngest quit after two turns). The game pieces it does come with are too big for the spaces on the board, it's hard to tell one space from another because the board is so cluttered, the spaces are two different shades of green and they aren't that different. I had to move for my daughter and I had trouble figuring out the spaces. For a game that's suppose to be for kids, it's not very kid friendly. Everything is cheaply made, I'll be returning on my next trip to Wal-Mart. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!
This game is such a classic. My 3-year-old have so much fun and it’s a painless way to help him learn his numbers.

great game

great game for kids, fun and enjoyable, not as many pieces as I was hoping for, only 3 pieces

The new game board is confusing to little ones

This is a fun classic game to play with my little ones. Unfortunately, the new design of the board is SO OVER THE TOP in design and layout that it's hard to even tell there your game piece should land. They really should clean up the design quite a bit to make the game board easier to see and understand. My oldest even asked me to throw this one away, and see if we could buy one easier to see.

Classic children's game

This is a good game for a 3+ year old.

C'mon now

I had this game as a child and it's the same now as it was then. Some of the complaints are valid but they have always been valid for this game (not enough room on the square, only 3 pieces). My daughter had a great journey with me as I showed her each cartoon and explained what was happening. It was not hard to teach my 4 year old how the board flowed and how to move her piece accordingly. She loves this game so it is serving its purpose.

Quality time, fun and low price

I loved Chutes and Ladders as a child and now I'm sharing the fun with my child. We have spent quality time with each other. It's also a learning experience. My child is learning to read, following directions and practicing counting. Such a low price to pay for so many priceless rewards. I recommend turning off the TV, phone, computer, video games and anything else that's normally going on in the house and have fun with your family.

fun

my hubby plays this game with our 4 year old. she is learning to count and this makes it fun.
