What a sweet Christmastime romance Christmas on Mistletoe Lane was! When Kaitlyn received the news that had she inherited her grandparent's bed and breakfast she felt like it was a new start for her. She needed a life change and it was no hardship to put the big city in her rear view mirror. What she did not realize was that her inheritance came with contingencies and a rather grumpy ex-marine. Mitch had grown up spending his free time helping at the bed and breakfast and when he learned that he was to inherit it, he came out of respect for Kaitlyn's grandparents. He had no interest in spending time in the small town of Sweetwater Springs, let alone co-running a business there. Despite his resolve to spend little time in the town, he just couldn't deny Kaitlyn her dream. He grudgingly decided to help her but only until they met the conditions of the will. Or, so he thought. I liked that this story was truly about two strangers learning to work together, with each being uncomfortable around the other one. There was no falling into each other's arms at first sight in this story. Kaitlyn was very wary of Mitch and Mitch had to be cautious with his behaviors around her. He may have started off a wee bit resentful of her but he did grow to appreciate and respect Kaitlyn, just as Kaitlyn had for him. Kaitlyn and Mitch truly developed a partnership and later things became steamier between them but Mitch's past came back to haunt him and that threw a wrench into their budding relationship. I wasn't the biggest fan of Mitch playing things so close to his chest, especially when it caused unnecessary hurt to Kaitlyn. Despite the ups and down there was a sweet relationship between Mitch and Kaitlyn. In addition to the romance, there were many cute supporting characters in this story. I also liked the quirky characters who came to stay at the bed and breakfast, they added much humor and interest to this story. Overall, Christmas on Mistletoe Lane was a fun series starter and I am looking forward to see where the Sweetwater Springs series goes!
