Chamberlain 1 1/4 Hp Led Wi Fi Belt Drive Garage Door Opener With Battery Backup

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Chamberlain We had a smart chamberlain opener at a previous house and since moving to a new house used a different brand for several years. I liked our old Chamberlain better than the other brand and was eager to upgrade to this new model. The app has gotten even better than it was five years ago with the same great functionality plus many new features added, but the unit itself is a significant upgrade. The connectivity is now integrated, so there is no separate bridge to connect to the wireless network. Also, the unit is much more compact than our previous Chamberlain or the other brand we used, and has a modern appearance with brighter and sleeker lights that produce very even illumination. Installation was similar to our older Chamberlain and competing unit, but I very much like that the battery is housed inside the body rather than being mounted externally, and the connections are easier to make on the Chamberlain than the other brand we used. The setup is very easy, taking less than 15 minutes to set the door travel, test the safety systems, and connect to wifi. The learn button on the wall control makes programming the homelink remotes easy, and there were no technical issues getting everything programmed and working. The operation is very quiet, and the opener responds much more quickly to commands from the app than the older bridge-style Chamberlain or the other brand. My favorite feature is the motion sensor on the wall control and also the safety sensor at the door triggering the light to turn on, a feature that can be turned off but the other brand didn't have at all and often left me in the middle of a dark garage when the light timed out! I do notice two things that I miss from our older Chamberlain unit, one being the display on the wall unit that gave the temperature and some configuration options. The other thing I notice is that the door operation is a bit slower than both our older Chamberlain belt drive and the competitive screw drive openers, not significantly but enough to notice that I have to pause to not hit the door pulling in as it goes up. Perhaps a trade-off for the quieter operation and the more reliable obstruction safety reversal, but I do wish there were a way to make it just a bit faster. Overall, the little details are what make this a far more satisfying smart garage door opener than others we've used. Things like ease of using the app, the ability to set rules for the door to close if left open overnight, easy and reliable connectivity, and the ability to keep the light on while you're still in the garage make me very glad to be using a Chamberlain opener again. They have always been very good, but this latest model is even better!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Right from the unboxing, I was impressed with this garage door opener. The instruction manual included with the product was clear and detailed. I definitely recommend you read through the entire installation process prior to actually getting to work. You will want two people to install this, and their suggestion of using a ladder to support the rail as you work is great! The installation went smoothly until it was time to add the sensors at the bottom of the garage door track. After about 20 minutes of having problems, I realized that the one unit was not securely attached to the track and so was pointed at an ever-so-slight angle, causing the sensor eyes to be out of alignment. One thing that might be super helpful for this is to provide a small laser pointer clipped to these sensors for alignment purposes. I also had some trouble setting the up and down limits, but quickly discovered that if you accidentally hit a button, the easiest way to fix was to remove the plug, wait for the LEDs to go out, and start over. Wait until after setting the limits to install the battery backup so that you can do this! Other than these two small issues, set up was a breeze. I like that the wall-mounted pushbutton has a learn button in it so you don't have to climb up to the opener to program keypads and car remotes. After using the device for a week or so now, there's not too much to add. The LED lights on this unit are so much brighter than what I'm used to from my old opener. The warning beeps from the unit as it operates when you aren't using the hard-wired push button unit are also extremely helpful, as it can be controlled from across the world. Having a battery backup in the unit itself is also extremely handy and a feature that you wouldn't think you need until you actually do.
