I used to play Carmen Sandiego as a kid all the time and loved how it used country trivia and detective work together. When we recently played the Carmen San Diego Board Game (not this game), I was a little disappointed because it barely captured the computer game I remembered from my childhood.
BUT this! If memory serves right, is SUPER CLOSE to the original computer game. Old graphics and all. Lol. The buttons even remind me of an old computer we had. Kids today probably won't even realize the on/off button resembles a floppy disk. A little tongue in cheek for those who remember the DOS style computers.
To that end though, I played this with my 6 year old daughter. The box recommends 8 and up which is probably pretty accurate since you do need to know country trivia. If your child has an iPad though they can easily look up country flag colors or languages.
My daughter surprisingly loved it. I think the original graphics were almost novel.
And it was more nostalgic for me.
Overall though, my daughter learned some geography, country facts, and how to track clues.
I was really happy with this game. Would definitely recommend to anyone who played it as a kid.
If you did not play Carmen Sandiego as a kid, there might be a little bit of a learning curve.
It also might seem way too simple with poor graphics if you never played it.
Having played it as a kid, I absolutely loved it.
Great remake! Would definitely recommend.
