- 5 out of 5 stars reviewSeller Verified Purchase8/16/2024I've owned Canon cameras for decades. I was hesitant to buy a bridge camera because of their reputation for "soft" lenses, but I couldn't resist the incredible range of the zoom. I've been very happy with the quality of the images. By increasing the ISO a bit I've been able to take better than expected nature photographs. I was blown away when I captured the craters on the moon for the first time. I love this camera, and it's so lightweight!

It has so many new features it will take some time to really understand the camera. I wish the use manual were in printed form. It would make learning so much easier. I think that the USB cable should come with the camera at no charge.

Love the stability when trying to get a tough shot and the quality of the final shot. Just can't beat this model when you need to reach out and touch something. Just took it on a long 5Kmi road trip and it worked excellent. Got some super pics of wildlife even from far away! Love it!
Great Bridge Long-Range Shooter!
PJ CookOriginally posted onusa.canon.com - 5 out of 5 stars reviewSeller Verified Purchase9/30/2021I finally upgraded from my old SX50, on which the viewfinder was long defunct and the overall image quality seemed to be deteriorating. I do a lot of bird photography, so lots of the features of the SX models are irrelevant to me (faces - like birds have faces!), but I'm finding the autofocus on the SX70 is doing a great job most of the time. I had a few glitches with overall set-up out of the box. For example, there's no mention of what the diopter is for in the manual - and it turns out it was critical for using the viewfinder. Similarly, it was sometimes tricky to figure out how to change some of the default settings (e.g., having the camera always pause to display after taking a shot - not good for birds either), but I think I'm got all...
Nice upgrade from SX50
BiodivaOriginally posted onusa.canon.com - 5 out of 5 stars reviewSeller Verified Purchase7/27/2022I was aware of its limitations in low light performance and bought this camera mainly to see if its longer zoom can beat my 525-mm equivalent telephoto lens on my mirrorless camera because I don't want to carry a significantly bigger and heavier lens for wildlife photography. The resolution of the fine JPG images straight out of the PowerShot SX70 HS at max focus length is comparable with cropped images from my 525mm lens. Luckily, I found a good denoise software and have been able to get clean and notably higher resolution images out of the raw images from the SX70 HS. Its image stabilization for video is also good. For its compact size, weight and price, I am happy with this purchase
A good enough camera that meets my expectations
