My first Canon digital camera was my aging Rebel which took amazing photos. I knew the quality would be better, but I did not know how much better it would be. The 70D takes beautiful detailed photos with true to life colors. The auto focus is quick and spot on in almost all lighting situations. I never expected to use the movie feature much because I am a photographer not a cinematographer. However, the image quality and the new dual pixel auto focus makes shooting quality video easy. My only complaint with the 70D is that the images are rather noisy at iso's above 1600. Anything above 3200 I consider unusable in a professional environment. I don't think this issue should exist anymore as there are crop sensor cameras by other manufacturers that have excellent image quality at the higher iso settings. Another small complaint is that the WiFi takes some work to get it connected. Once it gets going, it works fine. I really don't care about no GPS. It is not something I would use anyway.

Great camera for the price. Full of features. I use a 50mm f/1.4 USM lens and the pics come out fairly well but sometimes fuzzy. Not sure I like the cropped sensor experience though, especially when using EF lenses.

I traded in my 60D and bought the 70D. I shoot mainly photos and wanted something a little faster. I shoot 98 percent of the time with a Canon L 100-400 and a Tamron SP 70-300 lenses. After going outside and shooting some birds around the feeder and flowers I downloaded them and had no sharp images. I then proceeded to change the micro adjustment for each lens, the 100=400 had to be set -20 to get a decent shot and the 70-300 I could not get any sharp images from. I returned to the camera shop and we tried the display camera and the images were still not as sharp as my 60D so they gave me my 60D back and refunded my money. Outstanding service form this camera shop in Lexington Ky. (You’re not suppose to use names here) This is not a dig at the 70D, it has a lot of great features over the 60D and In my ratings above I will give this positives for all the improved features. I just want to tell anyone who has the chance to take their lenses with them if possible to check.

This is a quality camera for the advanced user. While it has many automatic modes to choose from, that work under a variety of lighting conditions, I prefer to use one of the manual modes for the ultimate photo. With lighting not always ideal I prefer setting a fixed Shutter, Aperture, with auto to manual ISO. I have two lenses which take care of every situation for me. Canon 24x70mm 2.8 & 70x200mm 2.8 lenses. My 70d simply takes amazing professional quality photos but if I wanted better I would try the 80d, 7d Mk II, or wait for the next 5d Mark IV. NOTE: when they come out with a model like the 7d Mark II features with a 28 or higher Megapixel, then you will see higher quality photos. I have been shooting with the 7d for 2 years now and it has been a great camera. I mainly shoot family, action, safari park in escondido, ca, and sports. Also enjoy night shots on the tripod. Yes... a great choice

Just got a EOS 70D replacement for my exhausted and now ancient, EOS 10D. While I knew, being many generations advanced, the 70D would be quite superior to my old camera, I am still greatly impressed with some of those changes. For one thing, I have poor eisight and I really like the new image control selection knob on the top left. The icons are clear enough for me to know what they are at a glance and I really like that it locks with the push button on top. On my old 6.3mp, 10D, I would often change the selection inadvertently. Also with the 10D's 6.3mp sensor, I used to have to carefully compose shots when I took them because cropping was very limited. Now, though I still compose carefully, the 70D's 20mp sensor allows me far more latitude in composition and I miss fewer good shots. The low light performance is excellent too and the higher ISO settings don't get nearly as grainy as my 10D did. The old 10D faithfully took nearly 150K images for me but it is now getting a much deserved rest. The 70D, is a dream machine.

This is a great camera for taking pictures, if you are considering this camera for videography it is a bad joke. I know by now you have seen all of the commercials and YouTube video's of how great the Autofocus is but it can't overcome the horrible aliasing that is prevalent in this camera. It is so bad I just threw out an entire days worth of shooting football games because I decided it wouldn't be horrible to tape in 60P. 24P looks fine, but if you expect to catch action 24P doesn't cut it. I bought the HFG10 a few ears ago (sold it) due to lackluster performance, I bought the Sx280 and it shoots great video but goes dead after 10 minutes of use due to battery issues, I am throwing my hands up and returning this unit as soon as possible. DO NOT BUY THIS CAMERA FOR VIDEO IT WILL NOT LOOK BETTER THAN WHAT YOU HAVE ALREADY, PERIOD. I am satisfied with my 60d and it has better video than the 70d, so what if I have to pull focus manually. Also the battery went dead before a one hour game was over so that is a deal killer also.

I have used many DSLRs. I was always hesitant to purchase one because of price and i didn't think it would change the way i took pictures. I actually purchased a T5i because of an amazing Christmas deal. But when i read a review of the 70D online, and understood the differences, i immediately knew i needed to step up to a mid-range body. The 70D is an amazing camera. Some of the stand out features are the vari-angle touchscreen lcd, wifi, 19 autofocus points, live view auto focus (Dual Pixel CMOS AF) and the the burst rate is high and consistent. I also love the fact that you get add'l buttons such as dof preview, af, drive, iso, meter mode, af on, ae lock and af point selection. These buttons are customized via the custom controls and i have mine set up for back button focusing. If you have already mastered your Txi Rebel or other entry level DSLR and want to step up without going to a full frame, the 70D is the best choice.

I already had an older 35mm film version of this camera so what I was doing was upgrading to the digital version. All my old EOS lenses fit and work with this body as does the larger flash unit. I like the fold out display screen which can be stored with the screen in for protection. If shooting either low or high angle shots you can swivel the view screen so you can easily compose your shot. This is a large and heavy piece of equipment so I like the way it feels in my hands. It has a nice solid feel to it. I also plan to use it for some astrophotography and like that the ISO rating can be set as high as 26000. This makes for shorter duration exposures to minimize blur due to star movement on scopes which either are not polar aligned accurately enough or on the really large Dobs (16 inch) which lack tracking ability but gather tons of light.

I really love this camera. The dual pixel sensor is great for focusing in live view. Combined with the STM lenses and touch screen its just a very satisfying combination. I actually like using this camera to record movies over my dedicated camcorder now. Something about touching the screen and being able to precisely focus where I want is very intuitive. I didn't even buy the camera for its video capabilities, now I'm addicted. The photos from this camera are amazing. I never thought I'd ever shoot at high ISOs now I'm getting some nice keepers at 6400, and with some PP even 12000 ISO. I really like the focusing system, it's fast and accurate. I've been able to freeze motion and get some really great bird in flight pictures with it. Build quality is awesome, very sturdy but light. I love the ergonomics of this camera. My previous camera was a rebel T3i. While its a great camera it felt a little small in the hands, the 70D feels perfect. Battery life is great too. Depending how I use it, I can get 800-1200 shots on a single charge. Very satisfied with this purchase.

I purchased this camera as a replacement to my Canon 4D, which was stolen. Luckily my lenses were not with the 4d. The 70d is a great camera. Four features really stand out. The WiFi is a great addition. Touch screen and one touch focus lock is amazing. Just a few days ago , using that I took a pic of the Blue Angels going 500mph and it was crystal clear. Third is the flip out screen. I am 6'3" and can use on a lowered tripod and have a great view of the screen. The ultimate feature on this camera is the screen. The fact that the screen shows the picture you will take not what you see through the viewfinder. As you adjust ISO, Shutter speed or aperture the screen shows what the pic will look like. This feature alone makes this a great camera at a great price. I would highly recommend this camera to anyone who is amateur to intermediate as it makes advancing your skills much easier.
