I've been using it for Indoor Sports. The number of focus points is highly limited. I rely mostly on the center dot in low light and it performs well. However, it is a primitive focusing system when compared to the 5D. It is lighter than the 5D which I appreciate, but in hindsight - knowing what I know now after using it for several years - I regret not purchasing the 5D III. There is no way I would buy a 6D II when (if) it arrives in 2017. The 5D III (discounted) or the 5D IV is the way to go. If you buy middle of the road then you will be stuck in the middle of the road -- always lacking something.

got my new 6d on 12/03/12 was nervous since I read a few bad reviews (after I placed my order) to nervously I go to the UPS terminal for pickup and am proud to say I am more than pleased with min. the first shoot was a child's Christmas Play in one of those dreadful dark hall rooms that schools have..I shot 1600 iso with canon 85mm 1.8 using about 2.0 and these are tac sharp and my questions is "where did the noise go?" can't answer that, except the noise control in low light and really improved from my Mark 2 even. being able to hook up with your own phone and even do card review is amazing...but to control the shoot on a stationed camera from your seat? That, and being able to email a fav shot from right there is a most pleasant surprise...and throw in GPS? I'm as ok with the camera as I can be... I rated it 4's because I could have used more top speed, 4000 sec and another card slot, even same type, would have been icing on the cake...but that's the only 2 stones I will toss..

I shoot landscape and art pictures. I use the multi exposure capabilities fairly often. (Of course I also shoot family.) This camera is outstanding. Anyone truly committed to the highest image quality (short of medium format) is in full frame format. I have gradually increased the ISO at which I'm willing to shoot, as I see the uncompromised image quality of 400, 800, 1600, and beyond. This camera is dense and compact, it feels like a million bucks. For what I do the auto focus is totally adequate. The frames per second, not a factor. I do use the video some, and in fact I augment the audio with a Rode Stereo Pro@ mike. I think the video quality is excellent. The bottom line for me, though, is image quality, shooting JPEG images, and processing them on my Macbook Pro with retinal display screen, simple as pie, I get truly awesome professional results. I make metal prints to 16X24 and they are crisp and wonderful. I am obsessive and fastidious about image quality! Arthur

I purchased the 6D for my wife for Christmas. I have a 5Dmk3 to compare. The image quality is remarkable. Low-light is possibly a touch better than the 5Dmk3. The focus system is very good and for stills and most shots as good as the 5Dmk3, which holds the advantage on sports/action shots. The primary drawback is that the build quality is slightly less. It is much lighter (advantage) and has less metal underneath the skin (disadvantage). Like many other 6D owners, we have lost the cover to the mode dial, but haven't yet lost the Quick Control Dial that others have.. I understand these are easily replaceable, but come on Canon! We have made some use of the wireless capabilities although they are a bit difficult to setup and use (I am an IT person and still struggle a bit getting things to work reliably). If you are looking for a full frame camera at a great price point with excellent picture quality and a few extra bells and whistles, and don't tmind losing a few button covers, I can recommend the 6D.

I received my second Full Frame Canon camera recently since I do not change lens in the field and wanted a back up camera for the 70-200IS Mk II lens. The 6D is a great camera and gives me the flexibility of having a backup camera to the 5D MKIII. I can use either camera in complete confidence when I want a different lens with a longer range. Both have extra clear pictures and either can take HD video. I like the features and the feel of the 6D since it is lighter than the 5D and the pictures are excellent and they compare very closely to the quality of the 5D. I would recommend this camera to anyone wanting a Full Frame camera. It has plenty of features and it is very easy to use. I was surprised that the 6D HDR mode does not include the three pictures that make up the composite picture. The 5D gives me all three of the pictures plus the composite picture. You can edit those with software if you wanted to create an HDR file with your choice of details. picture. .

I've had this camera for about 8 months. It replaced a Canon 7D that was excellent. This new camera blows the 7D away for any low light photography. The jpeg photos are very usable all the way to 51K ISO and outstanding at 12K ISO. I tend to shoot vacation and family photos often involving indoor settings. The great cathedrals in Europe often do not allow flash photography and the 6Ds low light capability produces stunning photos, while minimizing camera shake. If you are a sports photographer shooting with lots of light, the comparably priced new Canon 7D Mk 2 is a good choice. It shoots much faster and has a larger focusing area. As I am "old school" I leverage the 6Ds center focus point which can focus in -3EV and recompose before shooting. I find this gives me extremely accurate and reliable focus results. With fast motion photography, this method is difficult to execute. In closing, this camera with the 24-105mm L lens makes a top tier travel camera.

After years of lugging around a 5D mkII and not wanting to invest in a mklll, I was hoping for a full frame Rebel. When convinced it wasn't going to happen, the 6D came along. While size and weight appear of little significance on paper, you can tell the difference around your neck. Favorite walk around kit is 6D with EF 24-85mm. If situation is serious enough to justify the weight, will switch to L primes. Haven't used WI-FI yet. Rarely use video but they are there if I need them. Can see a difference in the Digit 5+. Autofocus seems faster even though its the old system. No discernable noise (to me) up to 12,500 which helps the irritation of not having a built in flash. They claim it affects waterproofing but I hate carrying a flash just for fill. Like the new power switch but battery wears out quickly. Prefer CF cards even though I'm always bending pins. Afraid I'm going to lose SD cards. If you consider yourself a far better photographer than you actually are, the 6D fills the bill. Don't be afraid to use the autos.

The Canon 6D surprised me in just how good it is. It has especially good low light performance and the noise can be handled up to at least 6400 ISO. While the camera is probably best for landscapes and portraits, it can be used in wildlife and nature. The shutter speed means it is not that great for say birds in flight, but normally 100% of the shots will be in focus and you can use a high ISO to maintain shutter speed without introducing too much noise. A 7D is certainly much faster, but in low light focus will often be missed and there will be noticeably more noise at high ISOs. Do I have complaints about the camera, no not for the use I have for it. That said though jpeg only for some features would bother me if I used those features; In closure, if you want a quality full frame camera and either cannot afford or do not wish to spend the bucks for a 5D MIII the 6D is an excellent choice. In my opinion the camera is better than a 5D MII

The 6D is Canon's cheapest full-frame DSLR, but even if price were no object it is also their best for travel photography and for most event and portrait work leaves little to be desired compared to its more expensive sisters. The sensor is probably my favorite thing about the 6D. At "only" 20 megapixels, the individual pixels are larger than they would be on a higher resolution camera, and the larger the pixel, the more light it can gather. ISO 1600 is close enough in performance to base ISO (100) to not matter, while even ISO 6400 can yield beautiful prints at larger sizes so long as you get the exposure just right. The autofocus system is really the only thing most reviewers complain about on the 6D, but here too in many ways less is more. While it only has 11 points and only the center point is a cross-type, that center point, even four years after the camera's release, remains among the best in the industry. Even in near darkness the 6D focuses quickly and accurately, especially with fast lenses. My only concern compared to higher-end models is that the weather sealing seems a bit lighter. I've used the 5D mk iii and that camera just feels a lot more robust, but given the price difference between them it should. I've used my 6D in the rain and had no issues, just make sure not to press any of the buttons or work any of the dials while wet. When I plan to use mine in the rain, I make sure to wipe off any water before changing settings and limit myself to just using the shutter release when wet (usually covered by my finger so not too soggy). With a water sealed L lens (don't forget a filter to complete the seal) I've had no issues even in some heavy rain, but heavier seals would make me more comfortable and are the only reason I am looking at adding a 5D mk iii to my outfit. Unless you are shooting fast-moving sports or birds in flight, the 6D is a fantastic camera at any price, and given what these cost now, its a real bargain. I still love mine.
