  • A. Curtis : I have the same question, but I'm pretty sure that the offer IS the 510 HS model, "as pictured", clearly-seen on the hand-grip, at top. One sure way would be to GO INTO WALMART, if the online "ship to store" says that it is available NOW (i.e. in "your" designated store). I hope that's not a long distance for you. Common sense tells me that, however competent the online catalog and shipping Departments are, they can't be perfect in every numbering, of all the manufacturers, and all their models. For the website, as a "catalog", they almost certainly PHOTOGRAPHED THE CAMERA THAT IS OFFERED FOR SALE, so this 510 HS is "as pictured". Also, unless they stated otherwise, they would have legal obligation to sell what is offered, and this camera says HS, right on the label, top of hand-grip, as stated. I plan to go-into "my" designated store very soon, (tomorrow), and I will take the camera in my own hands, to give you a CERTAIN answer... Sorry that I went-on so long... - Mark T, Lansing, Mich., USA.

I take a lot of pictures for ebay need to get close and clear

  • A. If using the flash up close on smaller objects they tend to get washed out. But if you can hold fairly still it takes great pictures in very low light, so shouldn't need flash. Only need flash to catch something moving like a hand so that it's not blurry.

  • A. For a still subject it would probably be good, my problem was the delay from flash to picture snap.

  • A. Lucky, Any "name-brand", normal, digital camera, manufactured in the last 10 years, will capture good images for large objects. If you need "close and clear" : that is called "macro-photography" ; and you'll need a camera LIKE THIS ONE, that has "macro" capability, or a "macro" lens. For shooting small, and/or intricate items, like jewelry, figurines, small parts, etc. you have a problem : "minimum focal distance". Since you need to get-in close, a "fixed" lens (not zoom) might have a min. focal distance of 3 ft. (1 Meter) - not close enough. As stated, this can be solved by either a GOOD zoom lens (zoom-in), or an interchangeable-lens DSLR with a GOOD "macro" lens attached (get-in close). I want your business to look "professional", and trust that you do, too. THIS CAMERA SHOULD BE IDEAL FOR YOUR "PRODUCT" SHOTS. You will have to learn that proper LIGHTING is extremely important. The on-camera flash, for close-ups, usually makes "harsh" shadows, and reflections. Try soft, Natural light, if that's possible ; or diffuse your flash with a small "soft box" of silk (maybe) ... You may be able to set-up an "assembly line", with this camera on a tripod, and a good back-drop.... In any case, DON'T use a cheap, add-on, so-called, "close-up lens" that screws-on OVER your good, primary lens. Best of Luck in your business ventures, though don't neglect to get some good images of the whole World around you... - Mark T, Michigan , USA .

I ordered this camera because with all of my research, it seemed like the best one to suit my needs. However, I received the camera with it's box ripped open from a previous owner, the camera itself was removed already from it's sleeve, the protective sheet over the camera screen already missing, and the lens and screen had fingerprints on it. It was also shipped only in an envelope, so other than the sides being torn, the box was also severely beaten up. I ordered a brand new camera, and clearly got someone's return that does not work well and takes blurry photos. Of course when I tried to purchase a warranty on it, there were none, so now I'm stuck. The camera looks like it probably would have been nice had it been brand new.

I've only had my camera for a little over a week now and although I haven't yet learned all the features I really like it. I probably won't use all the features anyway. I basically bought it because I wanted a camera that had a good optical zoom and quality image for an upcoming concert. The size and weight of the camera are nice, especially if you want to take selfie pics. The only problem I'm having is with the manual and trying to figure out how to download the software for WiFi. I don't like how the manual has you jumping around from one page to others and then back again to the page you were on and then not completely explaining the rest to complete the procedure. I found it a bit confusing. However, a person who understands computers better may not have as bad an issue with it. But the manual is confusing. Great camera though. I am quite pleased with it and have proudly shown it to others. If you get this camera, you won't be disappointed!

The fact that so much optical and computer engineering can be included in a relatively inexpensive item is remarkable. The lens system is sharp, and the point and shoot features correct for ambient conditions so well that manual operation is virtually unnecessary. However, when required, such as for sports shooting it would be an improvement to have more intuitive access to these features. I was lukewarm to the wireless features, and continue to be underwhelmed, since hard-wire downloads and communication with a real computer is so much more versatile, but for those who like sharing every shot immediately, this will be a selling feature. The small size and easy handling make it a pleasure to use, and a camera for all occasions. All in all, I think that for the money I would be hard pressed to find a better camera.

This is a good compromise camera. I have owned "point and shoot" camera and SLR with interchangeable lens in the past. This camera has far better zoom than many point and shot camera, and has most of the features of the SLR. I was impressed most of time, good battery life. Very good photo quality. Very easy to use. The camera auto matic mode most times picked the correct thing to focus on. I found it very easy to just let the camera make the decisions most of the time. And the image stablization features saved my photos when I was photographing eagles and whales a reasonable distance away. I did find a few places where I wanted a better camera. I was taking photos of Mount Mckinley and snow against a pale blue sky completely disappeared. So that was one occasion I wished I was carrying a more expensive. But all in all of if you are looking for a great versitile camera that is easy to carry and use this camera is worth a serious look. I thought it provided a lot of Bang for the Buck.

This was for my wife's Christmas present. She likes it a lot. I like it cause she can figure it out pretty easy! She's technically challenged and an EOS model would never work! This has good megapixels at 12 with a 30x zoom and IS! It also works very well with low light as long as stuff isn't moving to fast. For stuff moving in low light you are best to use the flash. The flash is extra bright and sometimes washes out certain objects if you are to close, like closer than 4 feet. No manual or software. Box says to download on canon website. haven't done yet.
