Like I have said in many of my other reviews, I adore Christmas romance stories! Every year I am searching for a new batch to read. I am so glad that I read Candlelight Christmas by Susan Wiggs - it is a quick, uncomplicated story that is as comforting as a warm, fuzzy blanket on a snowy afternoon. The book revolves around Logan O'Donnell, who is familiar to fans of The Lakeshore Chronicles Series. He is divorced from Daisy and is co-parenting his 9 yr old son Charlie. He is very much a family type of guy, and he is trying to make the holiday special for his son. We also meet Darcy Fitzgerald, who is a newcomer to Avalon, and has recently gone through a rather tumultuous divorce. Both Logan and Daisy have had their hearts bruised, and are reluctant to surrender themselves to the possibility of finding love again. Since I am already a huge fan of Susan Wiggs AND The Lakeshore Chronicles series, Candlelight Christmas was like the star on the top of the Christmas tree - the perfect addition to an already wonderful thing! I have thoroughly enjoyed all the books in the series, and I hope it never ends. Susan describes Avalon so beautifully that each return is always a greatly anticipated journey. I can't wait to see what is going on with the characters that I have become so fond of. So, if you are already a fan of Susan's, you probably have already read this book, but if you haven't discovered her yet, now is the time to start. I would highly recommend The Lakeshore Chronicles Series. Candlelight Christmas is the 10th book in the series, but I feel that it could also be read as a stand-alone story as well. If you are looking for a little something to add some sparkle to your holiday reading list, this just may be what you are looking for. I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

New York Times bestsel...
New York Times bestselling author Susan Wiggs is a consummate writer who consistently delivers high-end Christian fiction, evoking deep emotion in readers with believable stories peopled by fascinating and memorable characters. What prompted the author for her choice of picture-perfect setting for the story which seeks to address the more complex issues of life: parenting and divorce, is beyond me but its beauty and grandeur of the locales tempers the grimness in certain parts of the story. Logan O'Donnell is a single father who deeply cares for his son Charlie who is separated from him. As Christmas nears he is determined to give him an unforgettable one, and moves to Avalon, a beautiful town on the shores of Willow Lake where Charlie was living, and invited the whole O'Donnell family members. One of the guests was a divorcee named Darcy Fitzgerald who is still reeling from her own painful divorce from Huntley Collins. As her sister was married to Huntley's brother, she was not willing to spend the holidays with her family. To escape from them and shake off her discomfiture she had agreed to be in Avalon when invited by a friend. When Darcy meets her best friend's brother Logan, she is determined not to let anything happen. Logan is also equally determined. But over a period of time and after several more meetings, it becomes apparent that they may not be strong enough to resist each other. Apart from themselves, they also have many obstacles: Huntley Collins, Darcy's family, Charlie, and Logan's own father. Will the magic of Christmas touch their lives and the lives of those people around them? Will Santa Claus bring them the gifts children look forward to every Christmas morning? Candlelight Christmas in The Lakeshore Chronicles series is powerful story of loss, separation and brokenness. It is also a compelling story of love, hope and redemption. The story is refreshingly different and the characters make the book a worthwhile read.
My Review: Candlelight...
My Review: Candlelight Christmas 4 stars Candlelight Christmas has everything you want in a Christmas story. Family, friends, cute kids, caring about others, likeable characters who you care about and want to see things workout for everyone. People that try and make Christmas better for others. Logan only has his son summer and holidays. He loves his son and tries to be there for him. He goes out of his way for his son's new best friend. Because he can and cares for him. I really admired Logan. Darcy does not want to make holidays worse for her family, ex-husband and stepchildren so she spends holidays with her friends family. Darcy does not want anything do again with a single father and his kids. She and Logan feel really close fast. Their are a lot of cute animals in this story that enrich it and make holidays better. Plot Logan decides to make a lot of changes and risks in his life now. He sells his old business and house to but a ski lodge and opens his house for Christmas their instead of Florida like always. He agrees to take care of two kids while their mom has to be gone over Christmas. Even lets his sister and her friends and family come and enjoy Christmas together. Lots of charm and lots of love that make the holidays inviting. Good clean story that draws you into their lives as they celebrate the holidays. I was given this ebook for purpose of reviewing it. All opinions are mine. 10/29/2013 PUB Harlequin Harlequin MIRA 336 pages ISBN 9780778314745
Candlelight Christmas ...
Candlelight Christmas by Susan Wiggs Loved hearing of the legend of the Christmas pickle and the recipe! India's friend Darcy met Logan who was at the camp with Charlie. They start talking and Logan realizes Darcy does not like kids. They get interrupted and never make it back together for a drink later that night. India and Darcy do talk on the way home and she kinda liked Logan but just wants to remain single. Logan had moved to Avalon to be near his son Charlie but after the divorce and she married another and moved he's bored with selling insurance in town and only seeing Charlie a few times a year. Logan agrees to take both of the kids if Mrs. Martin needs him to. Logan wants to take over the ski lodge, he just needs backers. This book also follows Darcy's story and she's in the city working but her ex will be going to the family Thanksgiving dinner and she's decided to head to FL to be with India's family in the nice warm sun. Love the family feast and more what they do after, so caring, such good memories of teaching my grandson the hokey pokey. One morning Logan and Darcy are able to share the sight of dolphins and much more. Her job is setting up sports shoots for equipment she's promoting, names snowboarding and he invites her and the crew to his new job: Saddle Mountain. Because of her he had taken the risk of buying it.. The Christmas holiday plans might change....Darcy misunderstands why Mrs. Martin is at the resort...and Logan can't understand why Darcy wouldn't want kids... They do learn more about one another...maybe all the Christmas cheer, decorations, food will bring them closer... Loved all the recipes and can't wait to try a few and catching up with all the others in the family that I remember from earlier books. Love that the book concentrates also on the kids problems, not just the adults. Priceless pickle prize at the end! I received this book from Net Galley via Harlequin MIRA in exchange for my honest review.
Logan ODonnell is a s...
Logan O'Donnell is a successful businessman in the small Willow Lake shore town of Avalon. He and his ex-wife amicably share custody of their son, Charlie. Logan misses having a family. Darcy Fitzgerald is once burned, twice shy. Her ex cheated on her with his ex-wife. She isn't looking for a relationship, especially with another man with an ex-wife and child. She learned her lesson the hard way. When Darcy and Logan meet the attraction is instant, growing over a series of family get-together encounters. CANDLELIGHT CHRISTMAS is my first book by Ms.Wiggs. It's a sweet tale of second chance love with some tasty looking recipes at the end of most chapters. Logan and Darcy are likeable and suit each other to a tee. They're likeable but perfect. I prefer a flaw or imperfection here and there, it makes the characters realistic. It's hard to relate to and connect with perfection. Nor can I say CANDLELIGHT CHRISTMAS was predictable or formulaic. In both instances I would expect more conflict, some kind of friction, but there really isn't any. Easy to pick up and easy to put down, CANDLELIGHT CHRISTMAS is a pleasant break from tenser, more involved reads. If you're looking for a relaxing read with a greeting card-perfect Christmas, CANDLELIGHT CHRISTMAS is just the ticket. Reviewed by Ivy for Miss Ivy's Book Nook
