  • A. 20 lbs is a great place to start if you're 20-50 and never have done it before. You'll Soon grow into shape though. ;-). So you'll need to upgrade to more heavier ones.

  • A. go to the store & try one out. has to be a little challenging or will not benefit. really depends on body weight/size/weight lifting ability. too heavy & you could hurt your back if not using good posture during exercise

  • A. I think usually for women it's recommended to start with 10 or 15 lbs max if you're new to KB workouts. Personally I mainly bought the 20 lbs for KB swings but for other movements 10 seems to plenty. (Doing the Windmill, for example, I cannot use the 20 without losing good form and possibly hurting myself!) HTH!?

  • A. It depends on your ability and strength. Most important is your form on the particular activity you are doing. Always be mindful of your form. If your form is not correct that's were injuries can occur.

  • A. 20lbs is heavy to begin with if just beginning to use kettlebells. Exercises vary but would hate for you to pull something because it is too heavy!!

  • A. I just started with 15# and I think that is perfect. I bought two 15#s and love that weight for beginning.

  • A. Using at full arm extension is "heavier" than you'd think. With that, there should be no problem.

  • A. To answer your question, no I don't think it would hurt to go with the 20lb kettlebell. It of course depends on your ability level. However, if I do any type of free weight workouts, I typically use the 15lb dumbells. This specific kettlebell is significantly cheaper than the 15lb kettlebell, which is why I orded it (even though I was not sure if it would be too heavy). I found that it is the perfect weight for kettlebell swings and and leg exercises (lunges, squats, etc). If you feel that the weight might be too light, I still think it is the best value for the money. You can always add more reps or take less time in between sets if you need to make it more challenging. This is really the lowest you will find a kettlebell of this size. Hope this info helps.

  • A. Depends upon your strength. For most women and quite a few men it is very hard if not impossible to do exercises like straight side and forward laterals, certain triceps work and other exercises. My suggestion visit some store that has them out. You do not have to buy there but try some of the exercises with various weight then see if you can handle them properly. I have been training regularly since 1968 and at age 63 can still seated press a pair of 105 pound dumbbells simultaneously for several reps.

  • A. you could begin with a 20 lb one but use an iron one instead of this cement laden kettlebell. this is the size of a 50 lb iron kettlebell which is difficult to swing... at least for me...

Great Value Kettlebell

I bought two of these kettlebells for my boot camp and circuit classes. I needed a good weight but didn't wish to spend a ton of money. These were an unbelievable find at under a dollar per pound!! I had read most of the reviews prior to my purchase. For those unfamiliar with kettlebell training, this bell is larger than a cast iron version due to being concrete filled; the volume of material need to establish the weight will occupy more space.....It is not, however, as large as most made it out to be. The handle is large but that aids in controlling the implement better. As for it being slick, I do agree with those statements. An easy fix is to wrap some athletic tape around the handle. I would recommend this to anyone seeking a kettlebell without breaking the bank.

I added this 20 pound kettle bell to my exercise routine and it really gives me a good work out. I use the 20 pound kettle bell for my swings and my 10 pound kettle bell for my arm lift exercises. At age 65, they help keep me in pretty good condition.

Ordered this to start doing the Kettleworx workouts for cycling cross training. It's a kettle and does what I want it to but IT'S MASSIVE! I've used vinyl kettles before but at 15lbs. This thing is quite large. I probably wouldn't recommend it if you don't have alot of grip strength as it would easily slip out of ones hand and it's awkward on some kettle movements due to it's size. One arm swings and presses are a bit difficult due to it's size as well and it's hard to grip with one hand.

Perfect full body workout, great invention should have been available even before those other useless total body gyms that get boring after awhile using them, and just take up space and waste of money. The Kettle Bell is way fun, easy to use and like I said you feel it all over your body, thank you Walmart for haven't it available at a great price, I recommend this for any person that wants to get a thorough workout!

To be honest, the 20# KB is *huge* compared to other iron ones and the handle is quite big/wide, so if you have smaller hands (like me, female), some holds can be a bit difficult. (Also the plastic gets slippery if you're already sweaty, which require wearing lifting gloves to remain a good grip!) Overall, for that price it's a great deal if you're only occasionally working out with KBs and don't want to spend a fortune on a heavy bell. (Personally I always switch my workouts around a lot, so having those 20's on standby for the times I feel like doing KB workouts, is just nice to have.) If you however are already serious into using KBs, I'd probably recommend you spending the extra $ and buying iron ones, which are much smaller! =)
