I wanted a wireless printer for about $100 that would not have expensive ink cartridges & a high yield on pages printed / cartridge. I had an old HP deskjet (about 8 yrs old) and with the laptops, tablets all wifi, I figured it was a good time to upgrade to newer technology. Since I've set up a home network (a pain at times), I didn't want to spend hours on the set up. To make sure that I understood, I went to the Brother website support & also read more about the machine. The instructions were fairly clear... only when I wanted to set up a desktop, (after the laptop) did it get a bit tricky. I had to attach my ethernet to my ATT wireless router & go from there. Not too bad! Just read the instructions and follow them, exactly... no short cuts ! When it printed the test page, I was blown away that it printed the first time, without any further 'adjustments' to the network. Then the instructions had me insert the photo paper that came with it to print a trial photo.... Holy Cow ! such dazzling colors! very, very nice... just keep in mind that attention to the detail (instructions) pays off!! I would recommend to anyone looking for a quality, high value printer. I was able to hook up Google Cloud ... again amazed ! The technology is very cool to be able to print from Apple products or your Microsoft products (my laptop is Windows 7, Acer brand) You won't be sorry with your purchase.

I needed a new all in one and finally decided on this one. The machine works great but I do have issues with Brother not including but a minimum of a manual with it. I went on-line to Brother's website, entered my model, the Brother mfc-J825dw, and downloaded the hardware, software and specifications pdf manuals. With them, I could proceed with some tasks I had not tried with my earlier all in ones.Mine has an attachment to print on a c/d or their labels. It worked great. I haven't used it long enough to determine how fast it goes through ink. All in all, I am very pleased with it!

The printer is rather beautiful and seems to work well mechanically and electrically. However, I bought this new Brother printer because my old one would not print out complete emails. But neither will this one. After considerable phoning for help I was told to go to an "advanced" menu and click on something like "Print to page width", that would work in limited circumstances. But it won't do so. The text lines are cut off well before the end of the lines. So I chose to print in landscape mode. It still cut off the lines. So I printed at half size. No improvement. I also bought the printer for its scanning capabilities. I can't made these work either. After more phoning and fiddling I got a scan put in my Picasa photograph file. But I put all my scans in a pictures library, Surely I should be able to choose where my scans go? The person on the help line told me that this wasn't the responsibility of Brother Inc. and I should do it through Firefox or Google. This sounds very strange to me, and I haven't been able to do it.

The printer itself works as it should and does a very good job. The main reason I purchased a new printer, and this one in particular is, (a) Features (b) price of printer and ink, and the main reason, (c) cloud print. I have no problems with features and pricing. My problem is with cloud print. First, Google Cloud Print doesn't recognize Brother as capable of Cloud Printing. You have to go through a convoluted process then you have to leave your computer and printer on. Very inconveniant if you're not home and trying to print from your smartphone or tablet. I was able to print photos using iPrint&Scan from text messages with my first smart phone, then I upgraded to HTC EVO 4G LTE. Now I get "internal error" message when I try to use Iprint. Get same error message using my Nexus 10 tablet. Also, printer goes into sleep mode and cloud print can't wake it. I've looked for an always awake setting, but can't find one. By the time I realized I had problems with cloud print, my 30 day return window had past, or I would have exchanged it for one recognized by Google.

I had to replace an old, broken HP printer. The price was right for this all-in-one even though I had no use for ther FAX component. It prints fine, nothing special. I'm not enamored with the photo tray. I'm used to having photo paper fed automatically but this unit requires that I set the feed manually before I print a picture. I can live with that inconvenience. The biggest drawback and the one that surprised me most was the software. I was used to a robust picture editor with HP and a smooth scanner control function. The software with the Brother is hard to use, not at all intuitive and generates errors under certain circumstances that are not easily remedied. The help instructions were difficult to follow. This was my biggest disappointment. But like I said, I didn't pay a lot for what I got so I should have expected it to not live up to the functionality of the more expensive all-in-one that it repalced.

This is a very nice printer (including the printing of photographs). The duplex printing works flawlessly and is a most welcome capability. The scanner is sensitive and works at an acceptable speed, same for the photo-copying mode. I've not tried to FAX (I never use FAX, didn't "try it out"). I had, however, wanted the ability to print wirelessly (we have multiple laptops). Didn't happen. Worked at it for a number of hours. Could not resolve. Printer connects to router; router sees printer, reports printer as "OK" to router utility running on laptop. Laptop is (wirelessly) connected to router. BUT! the Brother utility to "see and use" the printer over the wifi connection doesn't "see" any printer. I'm a reasonably proficient computer user (retired as director of corporate-wide networking from a major multinational, have nine functional laptops and a desktop running a wide range of Windows O/Ss) but I could not get the wifi printing to work. I did make the requisite calls to various technicians; didn't help. You want to talk about finger pointing?!?!: my "circle of experts" includes Brother, CenturyLink, ActionTec, Microsoft and HP. Each contends "their piece is working fine", the problem is "definitely somewhere else". I simply gave up. If you want duplex printing, cheap after market ink cartridges, nice quality output of both paper and photos, easy scanning and photocopying this is a good choice; if wifi printing has a "dollar value" then you do NOT want this printer.

Compared to my last inkjet printer (a DELL), this printer exceeds my expectations! It prints fast, looks great w/o taking up so much space, scanner works well, and the overall quality is nice. I just had an issue with the installation part (getting it connected to my desktop) and the wireless feature is not that easy to operate (won't print from my laptop) but I guess I have to find the time to call customer service. Overall, I'm happy to be having a working printer/scanner!

I purchased this printer after reading the specs, googling and going through few reviews. This printer is a complete package. Got it at good lower price, got it home and configured. No problems with the setup. There is a new firmware update so plz download it on your laptop and update that too (after you have installed the printer drivers). Printed few b/w and color prints (txt, ppts, photos). I have not tried the Fax yet. Printer is not noisy and has auto sleep mode but quickly detects new requests. The 3.3" touch screen is good to have and works well. Quality of prints are good and largely depends on the quality of the paper. Better gloss paper will have good photo prints whereas color of the photos printed on ordinary paper will no come out well. Overall its a good printer, i can now print wireless from any room and also from my iphone. iPhone app is simple and basic, helps print pictures. My wish list is that it should print mails from my mailbox... currently it prints form the clipboard / memory .. so i have to copy the mail and then select 'print from clipboard' option.

After using my printer for about 2 months I only have a word. Excellent. After using Epson and Lexmark printers, this is one of the best I have used. Easy sending Faxes and making copies. Printer was another story. At first the colors was washed out. (But with Epson happened the same) So I load color profiles from Adobe, AGFA and other and experimented until I obtain a good profile. Now the colors are vibrant. I don't use WiFi, so I cannot tell anything about it. But the LAN connection is an added bonus. Also a Bonus is the capacity to print CD's and Photos. Also I liked the paper tray. Another happy bonus was it's capacity to make duplex printing. The only problem is that my paper comsumption has skyrocketed. It's a professional printer for the price of a home printer. I only hope is as durable and solid as my previous Epson.

This is the king of connectivity. Print from iPhone, tablet, laptop, and PC wirelessly. All-in-one functions are everything needed to run my remote office. Inkjet print quality is very good. Crisp and clean. The extras are amazing. Built in sheet feeder, extra paper tray slot for photo paper, flash memory port in front, USB port in front, and the view screen is crisp and sharp with intuitive step by step instructions for each function choice. Ink is easy to find and comparatively inexpensive compared to other inkjet cartridges. Four color cartridges for better quality that haven't run empty yet where with other printers I would have already replaced the black two times. I've worked with literally thousands of printers through the years (Hospital system IT tech) and this one is the best.
