I have two other inkjet printers of a different brand setup on my wired network. These printers were getting into my wallet all the time, ink is expensive. I purchased the HL-2280DW in Mid February 2012 to make it three printers This is my first laser printer. I am an amateur at computers but have a backup person if I get in trouble. I had no trouble installing it what so ever. I later installed it in a second computer so I could print from upstairs, no problem again. Just to give you an idea of how fast this printer prints two sided,I printed the software users guide and Paperport guide for a total of 455 page, 50 at a time to let it cool down and it did not miss a page. All this in about 30 minutes. Last week I decided to get the HL-2270DW which does not have the scanner, for my daughter for the upstairs computer and I will then connect my laptop to it wirelessly. I ordered it last Sunday 9/3/2012. Yes, I did put in a high yield toner cartridge TN450. Love this thing

Everything arrived in a timely fashion, no missing parts and no signs of damage. However, in my experience it all goes downhill from here. I've installed hundreds of devices over the past several years at my job but this printer has given me the most headaches. First off, the disc that comes with it doesn't get it going. The only success I had was using HP's printer configuration program which got it working wirelessly for one job. I had extremely high hopes for this printer, yet was very disappointed with it's performance. Particularly; Can't set printing defaults Can't connect wirelessly Doesn't work well with Belkin N600 DB Wireless N+ router Doesn't work well with Windows 8 It really sucks because 90% of the Amazon reviews for the Brother HL2280DW are VERY positive and this thing has got me thinking I don't know what I'm doing anymore. I'd heavily researched this printer as well as a couple others, very disappointed that I made a bad purchase.

Not exactly thrilled with this printer. The scanner has a low resolution (only 600dpi) and can't scan larger than an 8.5 x 11" sheet of paper. The print resolution is pretty bad - not clean lines but rather boxy pixels to make up lines and text. I suppose I have an eye for good printing (I am a designer and letterpress printer) but have also seen good examples of laser printers and this is not one of them. But that's not my main point of contention. The wireless function on this printer is TERRIBLE. I've spent hours on the phone with representatives trying to get it set up (good luck trying to find online documentation) only for the printer to be unable to be found by my wireless network only a few weeks later. I've quit trying to re-set up the wireless function every time it goes down because it is such a hassle. Now I have to carry each of my computers over to the printer anytime I need to print anything. I would not purchase this printer again.

I had bought this printer thinking that I could print from the print menu on my iPad. This because it said it was iprint compatable, not realizing that to do that I needed an Airprint compatable. My mistake for not researching all this better before my purchase. With the iprint app you can print from the iPad. However I am not able to get it to print out some things, example to print out an email you have to copy it to the clipboard first. In doing that you are not able to print out the name of the sender and etc. There is a work around by using a program like fingerprint on your windows computer then you can use all the airprint features on your ipad. The quality of the print, low cost of operation, the mechanical performace of the paper feeder is great as it has been on all the Brother printers I have used.

I estimate I paid about $40/page of either printing or scanning. I seldom print, but when I want to print, I don't want to have to go through setup each time. I was able to connect wirelesly, print and scan once, but then not again. When the printer went idle, it lost all wireless information. I never reached near the 50 pages it apparently takes to run out of toner, so I don't know about those issues. Customer support was useless, they just walked me through setup and if worked once, they never solved the problem of it losing setup info when it went to sleep. I ended up going with a competitor, it was too late to return this, but brother has gotten the last bit of money of of me that they will.

I just wanted a printer that could print a lot of pages quickly. I knew a laser printer was the way to go, since I only had a need for black & white printing, and this Brother printer has been great so far. It's nice to have a laser vs. inkjet printer b/c I no longer have to worry about replacing ink cartridges that have dried out when not used frequently enough. My two favorite things about this printer: 1) The extremely easy duplex option to automatically print on both sides of the page without having to manually flip & reload the paper, and 2) The wireless feature. Having to plug in my laptop or desktop computers to print with wired printers was a huge pain in the past, so this is a wonderful convenience!

I am really enjoying using this great printer. I could have skipped the wireless feature, and selected a different Brother printer. For I attached it to my Ethernet system. This allows me to print from several different locations. The printer is always available on my network and wakes up to print when needed. The duplex function works very well. Slightly oversized documents can be printed, but I wish it did accommodate even larger documents which could be reduced to 8 1/2 x 11. Ink use and print quality is excellent on this printer. My hope is that Brother will continue to support this printer with drivers into the future. I had bad experience with another company which stopped support after 3-4 years.

I have had a serries of multi function Inkjet printers prior to purchasing the HL-2280DW laser printer/copier/scanner. I decided on the laser since every inkjet I have owned has malfunctioned in some way, usually due to one or more colors of ink becoming clogged. After a few months, I can see that this printer is performing very well and is meeing all of my expectations. The initial toner cartridge is running low now and I keep getting warnings about low toner, but the printing is still good, scans are clean and easy to execute, and the construction of the printer is solid. Unless you need color prints, I would suggest that you stay away from inkjets. This laser unit is a good, reliable substitute.

This is our first multi-copier and is has been nothing but a headache. First I tried to program it to run on wifi system, but could not get it to function. So then I tried to hook it up with a printer cable, but it still will not function with my new computer. The one positive thing I can say is, it makes a very good photo copier. I have tried to contact tec support and have not given up on it. I have had several other Brother printers and have always had very good experiences. I guess it's just to fancy of a printer for an "old geezer".

I purchased my Brother 2280 four months ago, I am very happy with it! It was very easy to setup for wireless networking with my three PCs. I bought this laser to replace a color HP laser that was costing a fortune in replacement of toner. I am very happy to return to monochrome for my default printer and cost of Brother replacement toner is reasonable. I've own numerous HP laser, so far the Brother leave them in dust for operation cost and ease of use! I still use an HP Photo jet for color printing, which I intend to replace with a Brother color/photo Inkject in future, that how much I like this laser and what I think of their products.
