Good investment
Due to the coronavirus, all retail water refill stations have been shut down indefinitely. I drink a lot of water, but don't like the taste of the local tap water. This is an inexpensive alternative, super easy to hook up; literally 3 minutes from box to finished installation. A simple switch allows you to use regular tap water for washing dishes, etc. Will pay for itself in a few months. Thanks Wal-Mart and Brita!

Started leaking less than a month after installing
I purchased this item in a Walmart store, not online. I probably will wind up eating the purchase because I don't feel like making the 48-mile trip (each way) to return it. Besides, I already threw out the box. In fairness, I chose this filter because it was the least expensive one they had, and all I really needed it to do was clear some of the calcium and microscopic sediment out of the well water so I wouldn't have to clean my cappuccino machine quite so often. My water is clean. It just has a high calcium level that clogs up the coffee machine. So because I really didn't need any advanced filtration, I aimed for low price. That being said, I would still expect that the thing not start leaking less than a month after I installed it. My water pressure's not especially high, and I really only use the filter for water for the coffee maker; so it's not like it was under a lot of strain or heavy use. But as you can see in the picture, it's leaking between the locking ring and the filter base -- not from the washer, which would be easy enough to replace. Like I said, I'll probably wind up eating this purchase because it's not worth the drive to replace it. But when I replace it, it will be with a filter from another company. -Geek

Why didn't I buy this sooner?!

Super easy to install, easy to use... why didn't I buy this sooner?! It came with adapters so that if you have an "old" style faucet like mine (or any non-standard faucet), you can easily attach one of their adapters and then attach the filter system. It was really easy and didn't require any tools (other than removing my existing part, which had become clogged). I want to do my part to stop so much plastic from getting into our waterways and oceans and killing birds and fish, and I am also tired of lugging 40-pack bottles of water and paying for something I can get directly out of my faucet. It's one of the most overpriced items we buy, all for convenience! I highly recommend this system. And when I was trying to decide which one to buy, I compared the different brands (including an obscure off-brand), and factored in the cost of replacement filters, making it a no-brainer to buy Brita.

Very good filter

I know these arent as effective as reverse osmosis but my tap water is usually cloudy and when i installed this it was a very visible difference, clear water now and so it must be working at least a good amount. very glad i got this filter! Only downside is replacement filters are more expensive than buying this whole thing for some reason.

Saving the World

Very easy to install I just ended up looking on YouTube to do it quicker. I normally leave the filter off until I'm ready to use it to drink or boil water only use cold water when the filter is on.

Good choice

Easy to install, didn't need any of the rubbers. Good to wash my vegetables, for cooking and good enough for my electric tea pot which requires spring or distilled water only.

gets the job done

We live in an apartment so the faucet is a bit different than normal "home" faucets, so the Brita fits on it a little awkwardly. It might be because of this that the water comes out of it with a LOT of pressure. It doesn't have a gentle stream like a regular faucet, but a small, hard stream. It gets the job done, though.

Not durable

This was not great. It said it will lit up when it is time to replace filter but it never did. Also the valve to change from filtered water to unfiltered water is getting stiff plus it is leaking.

1. Lowe's or any home improvement store that sells plumbing adapters. Look in the section by the faucet aerators, strainers, etc. It is in a small package and says "male adapter." Bring in the old plastic one for reference. I bought a stainless steel one and now the Brita mounts perfectly. No problems. The Brita is NOT USELESS as someone noted in their review above. All it takes is getting a normal male adapter to attach it to your faucet.

2. Call Brita....they will mail them out in under a week.

3. Found my faucet adapter at Home Depot. Works perfectly. Made of brass and metal threading. Cost $4.99 in the plumbing section right next to the Brita System packages because HD seem aware that the thin plastic adapters supplied by Brita cant hold up their heavy filter units for long (if at all) against the average American city water high pressure. Or that pump in your artesian well, if you live in the country...

5. If you can't get them from Brita as all faucets are different. I would suggest you go to your local hardware store, bring the small nozzle that you must remove to put the Filter on and have them match it up for you. Worked for me!

6. All stores that sell the basic filtration system USUSALLY sell the filters as well. Also check: www.walmart.com www.homedepot.com

1. filters at Walmart were 13.97 but you might as well buy the whole kit for 15.97

2. I have yet to have a filter outlast the mounting system. The replacement filters run just over $20 for two filters. They're supposed to last 100 gallons (however fast you use that). It's about 4 months here.

3. $21, 3 months.

4. I had mine for four months before I needed to change it.
