This Brink's 40mm 4-Dial Resettable Combination Padlock is a high quality lock that I really like a lot. The convenience of a keyless lock is great as you don't have to worry about lost or misplace keys and if you have to have someone new access the locked area you only have to tell them the combination rather than coordinating the transfer of a key and getting it back later. I think this is heavy duty yet Brinks says it is built for light-duty applications. The Brink's 40mm Resettable Dial Padlock has a durable chrome-plated hardened steel shackle for increased cut resistance. The combination for this padlock is easy to use and easy to set and reset if the need arises. The 4-dial combination allows you to personalize your combination code to a sequence that is easy for you and others to remember. Setting and re-setting are simple using the instructions on the packaging with up to 10,000 combinations with 4 positions with 10 digits (0-9) for each position. The Brink's padlock is versatile and can be used for many things including school, gym and work lockers, toolboxes, and small storage containers, tool or utility sheds, etc. The Brink's name is synonymous with top quality merchandise and this quality lock should last for many years if not a life time.

High Quality Padlock
Very Easy to reset
I needed a good lock for my shed, so I was glad to get this combination padlock. The length of the shackle is long enough to fit through the shed's hasp. Also since it has 4 discreet dials, I don't need to try to remember which way to turn that you encounter with a dial combination lock. I have reset the combination repeatedly after reading other reviews and I have not had an issue with that at all. I will lubricate it with graphite to prevent issues that may arise. The resetting feature is convenient, but you need to make sure that the selected number on each wheel is set. You can feel the dial almost click into place. I also noticed that the dial will go to the left just to 0 and all the way to the right just to 9. You cannot make it go past those points. For my use, I like this lock. Time will tell if it survives our wet environment here in the Pacific Northwest.
Good lock Good price!
This is a quality piece of hardware as its made by BRINKS. The zink lock body is a nice weight. Its strong, sturdy and compact but has some weight to it so you know its solid. The shackle (hook) is a bit longer than most combination locks but it is by no means extra long. Its a great size to easily slip into any lockable mechanism like a locker, gate, or tool box. The dials turn easily and smoothly so its easy to set or unlock. I am using it on a gate that leads to our pool. Its just enough to keep out unwanted visitors, yet I can give out the combo without having many keys floating around. My lock is silver, even though it comes in a variety of colors, this one blends in nice with the gate. I have reset the code already 2 x and its easy to do by just opening the lock sliding the tab on the back changing the numbers on the front. then you just reset the tab and lock the lock ats that simple. Its nice that the lock wont stay shut if you don't spin the dial. It keeps you from accidentally leaving the lock in the unlock combination. My only concern is that the tab is a little too easy to slide to change the combo and I'm afraid someone might accidentally slide it and change the combo when the lock is open without realizing it. I'm probably being over cautious there. But i wish it was a push pin or something else rather than a simple tab. Over all great lock and great deal i would buy another one.
Small but secure
This seems like a great secure lock. It's small enough to not attract attention, yet pretty strong. It only has four numbers for the pin and no need to be super careful when turning them. They click in place and lock remains unlocked until the pin is changed. Once pin is changed, it is locked, whether or not the is closed or not. The latch must be down to change the numbers. If the latch is lifted, the numbers don't move. I'm not sure if I like that yet. The concern I have is that anyone can easily view the combination in school, just by walking by. I would need to unlock, open locker, put lock and lock it and change pin. Then when ready to close the locker, unlock it, close the locker, and lock it again. It seems like to much trouble when running between classes. Either way, I won't use it for a locker. I want it to secure our exposed toolbox. The combination is easy to change and that is handy for when I let a neighbor borrow something and let them retrieve it themselves. I'll be changing it often.
Brinks is the best brand for padlocks. This lock features a resettable combination and the lock opens easily. The lock is strong and very well made. This would be perfect for a gym locker or anything that needs to be secured. I highly recommend this trusted name in security for any type of lock, especially this resettable padlock.
You will want this resettable combo lock
This Brinks Resettable Combo Lock is a solid product that will keep your property secure. It has some pretty good weight and you will immediately see that it is very well-constructed. I love that it has the four-digit, resettable combination—no key is required. The package gives simple instructions on how to set or reset the combination. There is a reset lever on the lower backside of the lock and this lever slides upwards and to the left to allow changing of the numbers. When you are done, you slide the lever back into place and it is ready to go…no problem whatsoever. The lock is 3 ½ inches tall (including the lock mechanism) and 1 ½ inches wide. This would be a great lock to use on a tool box, tackle box, locker, storage building, and any number of containers that need a quality means of protecting the items within. The locking mechanism is a bit thick, so it wouldn't work for very small latches and whatnot. I had thought of using it for my luggage or computer bag, but it is a bit too thick for those types of bags and cases. The company probably makes a smaller item for those kinds of gear. This is an awesome lock and with the Brinks name, you can't go wrong. I would definitely recommend this item.
Sturdy Combo Lock
The Brinks 40mm 4-Dial Resettable Combination Padlock is perfect for light-duty use. The body of the lock is a dull grey. I like that the Brinks name appears right on the front. It seems like that might be a theft deterrent in and of itself. The Brinks name is known far and wide for security. The shackle is chrome plated steel, with “hardened” stamped right across the arc. This lock comes with a generic combination that is really easy to change. The directions on the packaging walked me through the steps to re-set the combination to something personalized that I will easily remember. It took less than a minute to change the combination and it has worked flawlessly every time since. Right now I am using it to secure a tool box of mine. I like the fact that in the future, if I decided to use it elsewhere, I can re-set the combination again for something else like for a number that might be more relevant to the location at that time such as a storage container or a locker at my local gym. I would definitely recommend this product to friends and family that want a combination padlock that does not need the use of a physical key.
The Brinks re-settable combination lock is the perfect size for gates, tool boxes or lockers. Any light duty lock you may need. The lock is zinc and the shackle (hook) is hardened steel. It is very durable as most Brinks products are. I find the shackle to be a bit longer that most standard combination locks but it is not an extended length. The size makes it easy to slip into any locking mechanism that you would normally use a padlock on.
The dial is 4 individual number dials rather than a round single dial. This makes hitting the correct combination a breeze. I use mine on my pool gate. Its perfect that I don't need to have multiple people with keys.
The lock is re-settable so that you can use any 4 digit number that you like. I have changed my combination twice already. Its really simple by pushing a tab on the back when the lock is in the open position. My only concern is that it may too easy to reset and get reset accidentally. I wish the reset lever was something hidden that couldn't get accidentally pressed or moved when the lock is open.
Overall, I like the lock. Great lock and a good deal.
Strong Quality Lock
The Brink's 40mm 4-Dial Resettable Combination Padlock is a high quality lock that I really like a lot. I have had some locks that can be yanked hard enough to open without a key and that does not happen with this lock. The convenience of a keyless lock is great as you don't have to worry about lost or misplaced keys and if you have to have someone new access the locked area you only have to tell them the combination rather than coordinating the transfer of a key and getting it back later. This lock is made of heavy duty steel. This lock has a durable chrome-plated hardened steel shackle that makes it more secure as it is difficult for someone to cut the lock. The combination for this padlock is easy to use and easy to set and reset if the need arises. The 4-dial combination allows you to personalize your combination code to a sequence that is easy for you and others to remember. Setting and re-setting are simple using the instructions on the packaging. The Brink's padlock is versatile and can be used for many things including school, gym and work lockers, toolboxes, and small storage containers, tool or utility sheds, etc. I am using it for a storeroom door that is not suitable for a traditional built-in lock. The Brink's name is synonymous with top quality merchandise and this quality lock should last for many years if not a life time.
Locks are to keep honest people honest
As far as security, this lock is just OK. It says "STANDARD SECURITY" right on the package. So really this is not going to take much abuse from even a casual thief. The re-settable 4-digit combination is why I got this, and it IS easily re-settable to a combination I can remember. I do not like that fact that the shackle does not have a catch where it enters the lock. Nor do I like the fact that the case appears to be made out of somewhat thin stamped metal. Without destroying my lock I would think several blows from a standard hammer would destroy this lock. Probably a tire iron would be enough to pry it open, but again I don't want to put this lock to that test... just a hunch. Light-duty out of the weather is where I will use this lock where mostly honest people will see it. And I will remember the combo because I set it. I do recommend this but with reservations as the lock DOES NOT offer any real security. Additionally, I do use reading glasses as probably does 1/2 the population these days. I still had to use a magnifying glass to read the TINY print on the package with the directions to reset the combo. There is plenty of space on the package to use larger letters that are more easily seen.
