I've always been intimidated by really nice machines like this, and I was intimidated when I received this one but I was pleasantly surprised to see there is a tutorial on the touchscreen that guides you through all of the different functions of the machine. The touchscreen is very responsive and the options are well laid out on the screen. Having never operated a machine like this before, I was able to make a great cup on the very first try thanks to the great tutorial. The milk texturizer works great too. I absolutely love being able to make amazing coffee and coffee drinks in the comfort of my own home, it's truly amazing! So functionally, I give it 5 stars. In addition to that, it's just really well built and looks really nice with our other stainless steel appliances. I have absolutely zero complaints witht his machine and would rate it 5 stars. Amazing espresso machine!
Amazing and fool proof!
Love at first latte! I have never worked as a barista, and frankly find the prospect of ordering coffee out somewhat daunting. I was excited to receive my new Barista Touch by Breville so I could experiment and learn more about coffee. The Barista Touch was well packaged and felt substantial and well made. One of the features I love is the hidden drawer behind the bottom section. I love being able to keep all the extra pieces together. Perfect for storing the extra filters that come with it. The machine is digital, and the display depicts pictures of the various drinks it makes for those that don't speak coffee. I made sure to check out a couple of Youtube videos on how to set it up prior to plugging it in. Turns out, that was unnecessary. It walks you through the set up the first time you turn it on. Ingenious! I was able to make my first latte in a few minute, water heats up in seconds, and milk gets frothed in less than a minute for my settings. The coffee was smooth and the milk was frothy, so success! I got it just in time, we wound up having a large family gathering the day after I received it, and it was the hit of the party! Everyone was amazed at the quality, and complimented my coffee making skills. The next morning, some of the same party goers came back for a morning cup of coffee at my house...must have been good! You can adjust the settings to suit your taste, and even save your favorite creation. This is great for the novice home barista, and according to my friends who are better versed, great for those who just love coffee! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I am a complete espresso novice - my coffee bean percolating experience is limited to pre-ground beans in a regular coffee pot. So I was a bit intimidated to give this machine a whirl but was pleasantly surprised by how easy it is to use.
The touch screen walks you through the entire process to set up the machine for the first use, and then walks you through each step for making your first latte. I didn't even need to look at the manual! It basically held my hand through the entire process, even explained how the espresso should look and how fast/what consistency it should come out. It asks if you achieved this or if you want to try again, and offers suggestions to turn the grinder's dial this way or that for a more fine or more coarse grind to achieve optimum results. It took me 5 tries to get it just right, but mostly because I didn't realize I needed to manually grind a bit more coffee so it would be the correct amount in the filter. I was able to go back in and change it from 15 seconds to 20 seconds and then it was perfect. It then replicated this setting throughout the menu so I won't have to manually do it in the future. Once you have the perfect setting it tell you to empty the portafilter first then moves on to the milk. I wasn't sure how this would turn out because I was experimenting with fat-free, lactose free milk, but it turned out perfectly. I kept this at the preset of 150 degrees. The steam wand does a purge once you're finished to clean itself.
I'm looking forward to experimenting more now that I'm no longer afraid it's going to bite me! In addition to all of the preset drinks, there is an option to create and add your own. I can't wait to have people over and impress them with my newly found barista skills. I'm already YouTubing froth art.
Everything you need is included in the box except the beans and milk. There is a box of cleaning tools and tablets, 4 different filters, tamping tool, milk jug, and leveling tool. The drip tray has an indicator to tell you when it needs to be emptied. When you pull it out there is a separate storage tray behind it to keep your accessories.
I am so in love with this machine. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Easy to Use! Great Interface!
I bought the Barista Touch hoping to finally find an espresso machine that was quick and easy to use. The Barista Touch nailed.
The set up only took about fifteen minutes before I was able to make a latte. The different features are simple to adjust, even for an amateur barista like myself. The milk steamer works perfectly, especially with the sensor that stops right on time.
I could not be more impressed with the quality of the grind. After only a few drinks, I was able to find the perfect grind to ensure the espresso didn't burn, but was appropriately brewed.
My favorite part of this machine is the speed. There is no wait time to heat up, and a drink can be made within two minutes start to finish.
I am extremely pleased with the Barista Touch. I have a coffee shop on my kitchen counter. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Fun and easy to use
I have only had this machine for a short time and I am a novice at making my own espresso drinks, so I am so delighted that this machine offers a touch screen with five preprogrammed drink options. You simply touch the drink you want to make and it walks you through the steps for making it.
This machine comes with a built in grinder with dose control which is great. There is also a steam wand which allows you to adjust the temperature and texture of your milk. One thing I quickly learned was to keep the drip tray under the wand clean at all times. If you don't, the sensor will not accurately read the temperature for the milk.
The steam wand itself automatically purges which is nice so you don't have to remember to flush it.
There is a removable water tank in the back of the machine which is easy to fill, and comes with a water filter.
I love that you can also create and save your own personalized coffee drinks. I am just starting to experiment with this option and through some trial and error I have been able to get close to my perfect drink. My husband and I are really having fun trying to concoct our perfect drinks. Overall, I am so impressed with the Barista Touch and I recommend this machine whether you're a beginner or an experienced barista. It really is easy to use and I'm already calculating how much money I will save by making my own espresso drinks. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Good all rounder
Have owned this machine for a couple of years now and it has never missed a beat. Simple to use. Once you get 'your' settings right e.g. grind, temp and shot pour length etc you become disappointed with cafe purchased coffee. Only drawback is the manual steam wand angle...it is not conducive to good milk texturing. But, I guess that's primarily why it is almost fully automated so it does it for you. Upside - you don't have to be by the machine the whole process so you can do other things while it is doing its job
1 Year Later Review: Still Amazing
This machine is the Tesla of espresso machines. It's digital interface is stylish and easy to use. The components behind the scenes are like autopilot and do the hard work to get a good draw every time. It is impossible to make a bad shot as long as the grind settings are reasonable. It's also fun to adjust the machine when I try new beans. Over the last year we've made anywhere between 1 to 10 drinks per day for my family and it's been fun to use at parties. We use it for hot chocolate and chai lattes as well as the coffee. The machine still works great. The only issue is that the steam wand has gradually moved back in place a quarter inch or so so the water aim was off. I contacted Breville and they provided a solution immediately!
Barista Touch Great So Far
The unit has functioned as promised and we just needed to try a few various settings to help establish the product like we would like to drink it. No issues with the functionality and the process is pretty smooth.
Shots shots shots!
So far so good with this machine.
Pros: Pulls a nice espresso. I did have to tweak the settings to adjust proportions to my preference. Overall pulls a nice espresso. Incredibly nice to have better than most coffee shop espresso drinks with at-home convenience. Instructions on pulling shots and cleaning the machine are pretty thorough from Breville. Machine is highly adjustable.
Cons: The touch screen is very sensitive and has caused a few misfires
Overall happy with the Barista Touch! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Really has potential with some work
I'm writing this review in hopes that the Breville team will listen to customers who are wanting more of of their espresso machines!! I am in no way writing this to put this Oracle Touch machine down. I just hope that Breville will continue to listen to their customers and just work out a few flaws to make this the best espresso machine you can buy for at home use. The pros: It makes the best americano of any espresso machine I've ever tried of any brand. It's absolutely the most beautiful machine out there. It's like a piece of art for your kitchen. The flaws: Even if you have a large kitchen ( and we do!!!) - this machine is just too tall to fit under the cabinets with the bean hopper in place! I so wanted to keep this machine as every other machine I've seen pales in comparison to the looks and function and taste of this machine. Breville? You're soooooooo close to having this espresso machine perfected. It just needs to be scaled down a tiny bit or make it to where the bean hopper is integrated into the machine rather than resting on top. That could solve the issue. It does no good to love an espresso machine if the only place it can fit is on a open bar. I want to be able to have several options of placement in the kitchen and not be narrowed to only an open bar. The machine itself will clear standard height upper cabinets but not with the bean hopper in place. It's not feasible to have to remove the drip tray, unlock the roller, roll forward, lock on the bean hopper, unlock the bean hopper when finished brewing, roll back into place, lock the wheels and put the drip tray back in place- every single time I want to brew a drink!!!!!!! Please! Please! Please! Perfect this almost perfect at home gorgeous espresso machine so it will work for cabinet clearance in all homes!!!!!!!!!!! If this was done? I'd easily suggest to it everyone. The looks and the quality of the machine and the drink quality are second to none- but it's just too tall! And please don't suggest that I buy one of the smaller machines you make. I want the top of the line machine. It just needs a few bugs worked out. An updatable software that could work from your iPhone would be great as well!
