For the price ~$12 per pair, these are great shoes. They are VERY lightweight. We don't want our kids running around with heavy shoes which are more like bricks. These are so light, it's not surprise that my son feels like he can run faster in them. Heavy shoes would literally weigh him down. In addition, the sole has the most flexibility of any other shoe on the shelves. You can easily fold the shoe to approximately a 45 degree angle. This is exactly what we want, as we do not want to inhibit the natural movement of my son's foot. Now, for the cons. Due to the extremely light weight sole, these shoes breakdown much faster than standard tennis shoes. For my son, they last about 2 months. We are outside ALOT! Once, I forgot to change out his shoes in time, and he actually wore a hole in the bottom of the sole. I order 4 pairs in the same color pattern at a time. About every 2 months, we toss the old shoes, and he starts wearing a new pair. We don't make a big deal about the change out. He hardly notices, since they're the same color and size. For me, it's great! For about $50-$60 we get 4 pairs = about 1 school year worth of shoes. I'm here ordering another round of lightweight Starter shoes and was surprised to find the many negative reviews. I'm shocked that people would expect a $12 pair of children's shoes to last. Seriously??
