As a gamer who was savvy enough to build their own desktop with mid-high range hardware, I think this mic works just fine. I've had it for nearly a year now, even though this was intended to be a temporary fix. I found that I liked the open back headphones much better than a higher dollar set. I actually bought this in store, discounted for about half off (around $20). The company who makes Blackweb items happens to make hardware for Polaroid and other brands; I believe it's SunTech.
I'm not sure what issues others are having, but I've never had any static issues. If it's too low as a mic, make sure you have it boosted in Recording Devices > Levels. If you claim to be tech savvy, try using something like VoiceMeeter to adjust your input.
I've used this several times on Discord before using a condenser mic, and people have told me it's actually very crisp, clear, and could hear me just fine. I actually had to lower to boost down to 60 on this. People could still hear me, but didn't hear background noise.
I've noticed that gamers tend to abuse their hardware, so don't drop it, throw it, slam it against your desk. You're a gamer, not playing football. There's really no sense for these to go bad, unless it just happens to be a short that no one can account for. Don't leave it near heat, etc etc. Be smart.
