"Dr. John Polidori's tale The Vampyre burst upon the Regency scene along with Mary Shelley's Frankenstein after that notorious weekend spent writing ghost stories with Lord Byron. A vampire crazy broke out instantly in the haut ton. Now Ian Ashton, the Lord Vampire of London, has to attend tedious balls, linger in front of mirrors, and eat lots of garlic in an attempt to quell the gossip. If that weren't annoying enough, his neighbor, Angelica Winthrop has literary aspirations of her own and is sneaking into his house at night just to see what she can find. Hungry, tired, and fed up, Ian is in no mood to humor his beautiful intruder..."--P. [4] of cover. Bite Me, Your Grace

By: Brooklyn Ann Published By: Sourcebooks Casablanca Age Recommended: Adult Reviewed By: Arlena Dean Rating: 4 Book Blog For: GMTA Series: Bite Me, Your Grace #1 Review: "Bite Me, Your Grace" By: Brooklyn Ann intriguing read of a 'Paranormal Romance Regency Historical Romance from London, 1821 setting. This was the first in its series for this author and it turned out to be a very good story especially if you love reading about vampires. We find that we have a 'fearless virgin' who wants a different like that her mother wants. Angelica wants to be a writer and feels if she marry that she will not be able to do this...she calls it a 'death sentence' so what does she do?... This "heroine discovers quite a few things that shake up her well-ordered view of the world - and she wouldn't have it any other way." Now, this is when this story really gets interesting and I say you must pick up the read to see what all Angelica will do to be ruined. However, someone else comes to her 'rescue' and saves her reputation by proposing, publicly." Again, you will have to pick up 'Bite Me, Your Grace to see how this author will lay it all out to the reader. This was a interesting plot with a few twist and turns and well developed and colorful characters. If you are a paranormal and historical reader that also enjoys vampires, romance and the 'Regency Era' with some humor, Bite Me, Your Grace would be recommended to you.

Im always up for disc...

I'm always up for discovering new authors, especially in the Romance genre. It so often seems that one hit wonders and perennial superstars are the only authors inhabiting this space. Brooklyn Ann's debut novel is a strong opening act, hinting that she will someday be a major player in the romance scene. I enjoyed the book, but I did not LOVE the book. I'm attributing my lack of meaningful connection to the shallowness of character descriptions. I couldn't feel the passion between the hero and the heroine, which was a major turn off for me. However, while there were some minor kinks that frustrated me (especially the fact that the heroine was not yet twenty years old, and in my opinion as a young twenty-something, not ready to find love or commit to a forever) Ann crafted a solid cast of secondary characters and personas (especially that of little Loki the kitten). At various points the dialogue was somewhat awkward and overly contrived, but I don't think it greatly hindered the movement of the story. The other curiosity (which I find in most vampire books) was Ann's own unique take on the vampire. Honestly I wish there had been more detail on this, and on this imagined life of the vampire of the Regency aristocracy. This was an entertaining and imaginative read, and I can't wait to see how Brooklyn Ann further develops her skills as a writer. I think we should expect great things from her.

Regency, Vampires and ...

Regency, Vampires and Literature... Oh My! The publication of Polidori's "The Vampyre" spikes a vampire obsession in Europe. The Ton are ever so curious. This simple gossip craze has made Ian Ashton, Lord Vampire of London's life very complicated. While book lover and Ian's neighbor Angelica Winthrop is loving every minute and hopes to write her own vampire story. Good read! I was drawn to the title and the cover. I love me some Regency with vampires thrown in. Bite Me, Your Grace is a fun story. Ian and Angelica were interesting characters to read about. I especially loved that Angelica had a passion for literature. I wasn't a fan of the vampire Rosetta. While she is important to the story, I kept wanting to read more about Ian and Angelica. The ending shaped up nicely for a book two. I think both historical and paranormal readers will enjoy this one.
