This billionaire cowboy's learning that love ain't for sale

Colton Nelson was 28 when he won the Texas Lottery and went from ranch hand to ranch owner overnight. When women started lining up wanting some of his millions, even going so far as to drug his beer, his family asks the lovely new ranch assistant to help out by pretending to be his girlfriend. They make her an offer she can't refuse, so even though she doesn't like it one bit, Laura agrees to help. Laura Baker and her sister, Janet, had been raised in foster homes. Though she was the younger of the two, Laura was always bailing Janet out of trouble. Janet thinks Laura should take advantage of the billionaire cowboy but Laura is getting to know Colton intimately and she doesn't give a damn about his money. True love isn't for sale.

Book 1 of Cowboys & Brides

From New York Times and USA Today-bestselling author Carolyn Brown comes a contemporary Western romance filled to the brim with sexy cowboys, gutsy heroines, and genuine down-home Texas twang.

Colton Nelson was twenty-eight years old when he won the Texas Lottery and went from ranch hand to ranch owner overnight. Now he's desperate to keep the gold diggers away. It shouldn't be too hard to find a pretty girl and hire her to pretend to be his one-and-only.

Laura Baker's got mixed feelings about this-she's on the ranch to work, not to be arm candy. On the other hand, being stuck for a while in the boondocks with a gorgeous cowboy isn't half-bad.
What neither Colton nor Laura expects are the intensely hard lessons they have to learn about the real cost of love...

Fans of Linda Lael Miller and Diana Palmer will thrill to this moving story of a marriage of convenience between a cowboy who has it all...and the woman he could never have enough of.

Beautifully written lo...

Beautifully written love story. Laura is always bailing her sister out - this time she is working at a ranch to pay off her gambling debt. Little did she know she would be the one gambling on love. Colton is a strong man who value integrity, truth and family. He just happens to be a billionaire. His billionaire status does not make finding a lady friend easy. So his family and friends take matters into their on hands. This book has some beautiful one liners and interesting dialogue between Laura and Colton. Brown does an excellent job of making all the characters in this book come to life. You will fall in love with Aunt Maudie, relate to Roxie, and become exceedingly frustrated with Andy Joe's manipulative streak - even though he is trying to do what is right. Then there is independent and strong Laura who is a self proclaimed computer geek, but who also doesn't mind getting dirty on the ranch. Colton the type of man you wish you could trade your husband for - smart, hardworking, sensitive and sexy. At times, the book is a little wordy and I actually did some skip, skip, skipping to get back to Laura and Colton. This book does pack a punch in the language department and some of the love scenes. However, overall it is a delightful "Cinderella-ish" story with loveable characters. Can't wait for book 2!! RATING: 4 HEAT RATING: Hot REVIEWED BY: A. You know you will get ...

You know you will get some sweet romancing when it comes to a Carolyn Brown book, and add sexy cowboys to that too.In this new series we meet billionaire Colton who is running from the crazy women that want his money. Colton is nice, hardworking, loves his farm, and yes he is also sexy and has lots of money. Then there is Laura, who has issues from her past and a sister in trouble. Laura is the nerdy girl with glasses. The girl with commitments problems. The sweet girl who loves gardening and has no problems with farm life. So they are perfect for each other, but they just had to get past a few speed bumps first. The whole premise is nice. She is his fake girlfriend and of course that means they get close. It's a fake romance that blossoms. All while we have a nice atmosphere and get to meet everyone on the farm. It's a close family, a nice family. I enjoyed meeting them all, and seeing Colton and Laura falling in love. Conclusion:Cowboys! Romance! You know it :)

Really 2.5 StarsI got ...

Really 2.5 StarsI got this from NetGalley for an honest review. I didn't get paid for it and I don't have any sort of relationship with the author.Carloyn Brown writes a lot of cowboys and this one is a billionaire...I really wanted to love it. Unfortunately, I really struggled with it and I found my attention wandering off a lot of the time. It just wasn't for me.Colton won the lottery and is now trying to fight off every gold digger in town. At the beginning of the book we see him being roofied by one of the towns more aggressive women and I felt so fricking sorry for him. He just wanted to be left alone and work on his ranch; I wasn't even sure he wanted the money by the end. He is convinced to take on a fake girlfriend by his friends and that fake girlfriend is Laura.Laura is a woman who has always "enabled" her gambling addict sister. When her sister runs up thousands of dollars worth of debt to a loan shark, Laura has to call in the big guns in the family to pay it off. One of the conditions to the loan is that Laura moves onto Colton's ranch and doesn't have any contact with her sister. She complies and, whilst there, she is convinced to play the part of Colton's girlfriend as part of the deal. Of course, it doesn't stay fake for long.I liked the love story. They were both people who didn't trust easily and it was nice to see them open up to each other slowly and learn how to trust another. The chemistry was definitely present but there weren't many scenes that showed a connection that was more than friendship. The relationship building didn't really leave me with the warm and fuzzies and I can't put my fingers on why.The rest of the characters are the main reason that I couldn't like this story. I didn't like the way they manipulated Colton and Laura towards a relationship together and it made me feel a little icky. The biggest problem that I had was with the character of the sister. She seemed to have more faces that a dice and I just couldn't get a decent enough grasp on her character to be anything more than confused about her. If they hadn't have had such a massive impact on the story I think I would have liked the novel more.Overall, I liked the core of this story but really not the plot threads that wove into it. If you like Carolyn Browns' previous work then give it a try as there are some very positive reviews from other reputable bloggers.
