The scope in the picture appears to be the same one that comes with Benjamin Trail rifles and has adjustable zoom. The description describes a 4x zoom scope like on other Titan models. Which is right?

  • A. The one I got had the Zoom Scope, but I guess it could have either scope in there. Depends on supply or not.

  • A. Mine came from Academy with a Centerpoint 3-9X32mm, but the Titan XS here at Wal Mart only mentions a 4X power scope.

  • A. Mine came with the 3-9x32 scope. Like you indicated, the 4x32 was in the written description but the pictures showed the adjustable scope and that's what came with it. Bonus!

  • A. Mine came with a 3-9 x 32 zoom scope. The description says it is only a 4x fixed scope. Very confusing.

  • A. Just received my new Titan XS today (11/1/2013), it has the 4x32mm scope on it. Outdoorguyreview is in-correct on the scope. I'm in the process of breaking the gun in and the 32 scope is OK, but my hopes were shattered by the in-correct information about the 40mm scope. Be prepared for a huge bang on the first shot, but sound & accuracy is getting better with continued shooting. Nice Gun!

Again I'm hoping the reviewer is right on the 40mm scope, but seeing it live @ Academy & the Walmart specs are pretty matter of fact. Thanks!

Wonderful Air Rifle, Expect a Break-in Period
11/22/2015

Customer review by gabednar

My air rifle arrived with the 3-9 x 32 scope, which works just fine for me. It is very powerful, but does require the mentioned break-in period in order to achieve consistency. You should expect your shots to wander a bit initially, so do not overcompensate with heavy scope adjustments. The accuracy will come. I have limited my gun to the blunt tip pellets during this period, and I have experienced steady improvement. The gun is quite heavy, but has a nice, comfortable feel. The two stage trigger did not bother me at all. I compared the shots from this gun to those from my Crosman 760 Pumpmaster and Tech Force 4, using aluminum cans as targets. Pellets from those air rifles either dented the cans or entered them. Pellets from this gun penetrated the cans and blew bigger holes out the other side. Overall, I am extremely pleased with this air rifle, and would certainly buy it all over again.

Excellent and Accurate .177 Air Rifle !

The Benjamin Titan XS is the perfect .177 pellet gun that I've been waiting 5 years for! It is very well built, has great ergonomics\handling and has proven Very Accurate (10yds=Same Hole w\Benjamin 7.9gram lead HP). There's virtually no recoil and I can shoot in my workshop without hearing protection, it's that quiet (thanks to the smooth Nitro Piston technology)! The included Centerpoint 3-9 x32 scope is okay (7-9 power gets grainy) but adjust well for a consistent zero. Trigger pull is on the long side (1") and heavy (7lbs). Two 3\16" lock washers on the trigger pin\sear contact dropped length of pull to a consistent 1\4" and 3.25lbs, giving me bulls eyes with every shot...very respectable! At 1000fps (lead pellets, sub-sonic=stable ballistics), it is very powerful, carrying 18 foot lbs of punch. In just 5 back-to-back bulls eye shots, I tore a hole in my Gamo 8 gauge sheet metal target housing I started with...will need to beef it up to keep using! I've not had the chance to take it out long range (50 to 100 yds), but am confident it will be a very accurate plinker and small game hunter!

Great upgrade to the Titan NP
10/19/2013

Customer review by outdoorsguyreviews

5.0 stars 10/19/2013 by outdoorsguyreviews

This gun is the same thing as a Titan NP except it has a welded-on weaver rail and a 3-9x40mm scope instead of dovetail rail and 4x32mm scope. That's a heck of an upgrade for $10. The scope is good, not great, but it sure beats a fixed-zoom model. The weaver rail allows adapterless install of normal-size rifle scopes. Not having to use an adapter is prime because the recoil on spring guns, including air-spring guns like this one, moves many types of adapters making it impossible to zero. The synthetic stock is a bit lighter than a wood one, but not as pretty. It being mostly the same as the older titans, the accuracy is good for small game hunting up to 50 yards and the rifle has that nice solid well crafted feel. I'm still breaking in mine, but the crosman premier hollow points are hitting home. IMO, this is the Titan to get now. Here are Crosman air rifles to cross shop against the Titan XS: * Crosman Nitro Venom -- basically the same gun as the Titan XS with a different stock and Crosman branding for $15 less (same powerplant, barrel, scope, and so on): http://www.walmart.com/ip/Crosman-Nitro-Venom-Dusk-NP-.22-Air-Rifle-with-Scope/16536075 * Crosman Fury -- same powerplant and barrel, different scope and stock for $50 less: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Crosman-Fury-NP-.17-Caliber-Air-Rifle/23795253 * Benjamin Trail All Weather -- different barrel, same everything else for $40 more: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Crosman-Benjamin-Trail-NP-All-Weather-.22-Break-Barrel-Carbine/15103394 * Benjamin Trail NP XL 1100 -- same scope, better everything else (and about 50% more power than anything above) for $110 more: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Benjamin-Trail-Nitro-Piston-XL-1100-.22-Caliber-Air-Rifle/16536065

Great Air Rifle, best price, bad description
7/7/2014

Customer review by Donrad00

This rifle is just what I wanted, Nitro Piston and a variable power scope. The description of the item is flawed and confusing however. The item specifics says it has a synthetic stock AND it also says it has a hardwood stock. The actual stock is all weather synthetic. The description also says it has a 4x32 scope AND a 3-9x32 variable power scope. The actual scope is 3-9x32. I wanted the synthetic stock and variable powers scope so I'm very happy, just confused. The gun is very accurate and quiet. The trigger needed tuning with information I got from Youtube. It required the purchase of a $.75 screw. The triggers on these guns are set very stiff for safety reasons, you don't want to accidentally put someone's eye out. But for serious target practice and hunting a softer trigger pull is preferred. It took about an hour to make the change and is not for the amateur.

The Titan XS Packs a Punch!
11/1/2013

Customer review by 2010Marsman

4.0 stars 11/1/2013 by 2010Marsman
by 2010Marsman

The Titan XS is a very nice air gun for the money. Be prepared for the very loud first shot. The unit comes with the 32mm scope not the 40mm. However, for shooting targets in the backyard, the 32mm does OK. As the instructions mention, you must shoot this gun at least 250 shots for a good break-in. Still working on that. But what the hey, you're shoot'n pellets not expensive heavy duty ammo. Make a good pellet backstop, because it "Packs a Punch"! Safe Shooting to Ya!!
