Good, inexpensive canner.
After years of water bath canning and waiting forever for the water to heat up, this is a very pleasant change. Small amount of water equals small amount of time. Way awesome. The length of time for actual processing is exactly the same as the water bath, you just don't have to wait all that extra time for your water to heat up. Cost effective also, since it takes so little time to heat up then you are not afraid to turn off burner as you prepare the next batch. Always afraid to turn off the water bath canner because then it would take even longer to heat up again. This is nice and light weight also. I don't use it as a big pot when turned upside down as it is aluminum and I have other stainless steel stock pots that I prefer. I use it strictly as a canner only. I use it every day during canning/harvesting season.

So much faster and easier than a water bath.

You use such a small amount of water. No big heavy pot full of water that takes forever to come to a boil. Easy to load and unload. Very happy with this canner. Every one of my jars sealed without fail.

damage during shipping

I much prefer this steamer to a water bath canner. I've used this for years. Only complaint is that it was dinted and I had to send it back and get another.
I love it. So much easier and faster than the water bath style.

SAVES TIME, SAFE TO USE & IS GREAT FOR CANNING

RECCOMEND FOR SAFE CANNING
All 5 star except for durability...the handles seem a bit flimsy, other than that, good value.

Thrilled

I have wanted a steam canner like this one for a long time. My daughter introduced me to steam canning vs water bath and I LOVED IT. This canner is exactly like hers! I am thrilled to have my own! Gonna put it to good use!

Works Well

Bought this for my parents who love to can but are having trouble using their old heavy one. They have used it two or three times already and are very satisfied. It's lighter, easier to get the jars in and out, and isn't as heavy or hard on their stove top. They would recommend this and are glad I got it for them.

Very good, but..........

Quality piece of kitchen equipment that has proved time saving and useful versus the "old" water bath method - but - for me - one HUGE drawback. It would not heat on my glass electric stove top. I even tried different burners and the water would not completely boil for processing. Fortunately, I have a propane camping stove and was able to set up in my garage and process. Just finished about 40 quarts and 70 pints of different variety of pickles (we give away as gifts). Every one was processed in this unit - but outside in my garage. Worked great and everyone sealed! Sorry I couldn't give it a 5, but 4.75. I don't know what to say if you are planning to use this on a glass electric top. Be prepared to return or use another source like I did.

5. Jars, lids, rings, etc. are all separate. It is the canner only. If you need jars, funnels, or any other accessories that go along with canning you will have to purchase separately.
by CJHardy
6. No jars come with this product. Yes you can use pint size jars. Simply adjust your processing time. I would be the same as "water bath" for your recipe. This is NOT a pressure canner.

1. The wire rack is the 3rd piece
by momcanner
2. No, it does not need the wire canning rack as a nice, more solid, stable rack comes with it. 3 pieces: bottom where the water goes and is a couple of inches deep, a nice solid rack with holes for 1/2 pint, pint or quart jars, and the top which can also be turned upside down and used as a stock or soup pot when you are not using it as a canner.
by Termo
3. The 3 pieces are the bottom pan, the lid and the wire canning rack. The wire canning rack comes with it and you need it to place your jars on when processing.
by Catl8dy
4. Needed? eh, maybe not, but unless you are experienced, would recommend using it as it minimizes jar movement, and keeps the bottom of the jar off of the bottom of the pan. Allowing complete water bath.
by Greg64
5. yes, it comes with it
