Get this!!! Highly recommend!
I had a regular diaper genie with my first and it was just so complicated and the refills were so expensive! Im about to have my second and I use waste baskets bags like office trash sized bags from homedepot theyre $7 and they fit perfectly with this and have one in my room and one in my kids room. Im about to have 2 in diapers so we go through lots of diapers and you cant smell anything thats inside of it and its so handy and easy to use!

Don't waste your time or money on this
I bought this because it was less expensive than other diaper pails and because it didn't require special bags. It was a complete waste of time and money because it did NOT control the odor at all. It was hard to use - the way you are supposed to flip the top to deposit the diaper did not move easily and we were always fighting with it. We have finally replaced this one with the Arm & Hammer diaper pail and it's sooooo much better. I have never written one of these reviews before, but i hated this pail so much, I just had to warn someone else who was looking at buying it.

Wonderful product!

We had a diaper genie elite which broke within a few months and the refill bags were so expensive. This product is so easy to use, definitely does it's job at blocking odors emanating from dirty diapers, and best of all? You can use regular 13 gallon trash bags instead of expensive refill bags. Love this product!

Truly hold the odor

I love this, I use it for my elderly Mother Depends. Just the right size to fit in her small bathroom. Holds all odors, uses any 13 gallon trash bag changing bag is a breeze.

Not using for diapers

Bought this not for diapers, but for dog waste disposal (in bags) and it really works great so I am sure it would be even better for diapers.

Love this! Best diaper disposal!

With my first son I had a diaper genie, and then a diaper genie II Elite because the first broke...well, needless to say so did the second! With my second, we decided to try the Diaper Champ. We LOVE it! You can use regular trash bags, one handed, and it keeps the smell out of the house (we live in a single wide mobile home, the disposal is in the kitchen, you can't smell a thing!) It also holds a good amount of diapers, but doesn't take up much room!

Love this Product!!!

I already have one of these in pink for my daughter. I liked it so much that I'm getting one for my son as we'll. I really like how u can use any type of trash bags, instead of spending extra money for a certain type of bags like the "Genie". There's no odor left behind.

Great product

This is a great product. I use it with my Costco brand kitchen bags. It's super easy to use. And my toddler loves throwing his sisters diapers away.

I have not used this product yet, but I like that I can use a regular trash bag with it. I used to own a Diaper Genie, and I hated having to always buy the refills for it. The refills can be pretty pricey. I gave the Diaper Champ only 4 stars because of Wal-Mart. I ordered it online and had it shipped to my house. When it arrived, it was Not in its original packaging and it was scuffed up a little bit. It looked like someone just grabbed one off the shelf in the store, threw it in a brown box, and shipped it to me.

Does the job

This is my 2nd diaper champ. The first one lasted me over 2 years, but it finally broke. It was still usable, but something was wrong with the handle and it was very hard to open and close. Also, I would not recommend throwing stinky diapers in it once the child is eating regular foods. It was never an issue until he was about 1 and eating lots of solids. Then you could smell it after there were a few stinky diapers in it. So we started throwing all stinky diapers in a bag and out with the trash. Only urine diapers in the diaper champ and it improved the smell completely. I would recommend. And you can use regular garbage bags which saves money.

Good diaper pale

This was recommended to me by a friend as you can use tall trash bags that have a fragrance to them instead of buying a special bag to fit; which saves money.

1. This Diaper Pail is hand-operated. The little thing at the bottom that looks like a pedal just gives you the ability to use the product with ONE hand only (great for mommies holding their babies), since you can step on it to hold the Pail down as you pull the handle up (which ends up not always being needed because the pail is very stable). You CAN use regular trash bags with this. I don't know of a better product than this one yet. The way that it is built helps to keep the diaper in there where you don't see it even when you put a new diaper in it, also helps keeping the smell out. Just be careful with little ones putting their toys in there, too!

2. This is not a step pedal, you must pull the handle back, drop the diaper in and then pull the handle back again to close it up. VERY simple. I don't see the need for a hands free diaper pail, this one is fantastic!
by MMBmommy
3. Doesn't have a foot pedal but ideal because you are forced to buy expensive liner bags.

4. yes you can use your own bags with this one
by blevins811
5. Does NOT have a pedal but you can use regular trash bags. I was not happy with mine (ordor was awful) but my daughter has one and has no ordor problem. Obviously not all made the same.
by justus2oldfolks
6. You open this by hand.
by ConnTwins
7. No pedal. You lift the handle and it opens the 'chute', not the whole can. It's nice.
by Fragile90125
8. You have to raise the handle to deposit the diaper. It does not have a pedal to step on to open it. The handle lifts very easily and I have never had to use the piece at the bottom (that looks like a pedal in the photo) to hold it down with my foot when I have opened it. So it is one-hand operation.
by Vaun17
9. This does not have a step pedal. I only need one hand to drop the diaper down into the pail though. If it is full it will not let you bring the handle back up. I usually then open it and push the diapers down to be able to put more in one bag.
by mommasfirst
10. This does not have a pedal - it's a handle operation, though easy to operate with just one hand, and no mess.

11. open by hand

1. seems like it is water tight as it is one solid piece of plastic..I would say yes!
by An anonymous customer
2. Most definitely not water tight.
by ConnTwins
3. This pail is solid and would hold liquid. Maker recommends a liner but you could possibly use it as you wish. The only thing is the cloth diaper may "hang" after being deposited on the inner circle the bag goes through - but maybe not.
by Vaun17
4. It requires a bag. I would recommend getting a bucket with a lid for your intended purposes.

1. I personally do not have this, but I am cloth diapering and this came highly recommended to me for that reason by more than one person. After reading reviews though, it seems people like the older model better. In many reviews I read online, people said they went to ebay to get a used version of the older model after buying and trying the newer one. Either way, it can be used the way you are saying and seems lots of people do.

2. Yes. Just stick the desired bag in of your choice. It's basically just a garbage can with a fancy lid to keep the stink sealed in.
