Lightweight and easy to handle

I have an older cordless drill that is bigger and heavier than this Black and Decker 20V Drill. So I was wondering if this smaller drill would be as powerful and able to handle the jobs that I need it for. Well, after comparing the two I can say that the Black and Decker 20V Drill is every bit as powerful as my older and heavier cordless drill. I like the fact that my wrist doesn't get tired when I am using it to screw several screws at a time. I really like the LED light that illuminates what I am drilling or screwing. And the 11 position clutch feature helps to prevent the stripping of screws. My older drill does not have that feature. But it's also not too light when I have to drill a hole. I don't have to put much pressure to get the screw to go in. My husband is handicapped after having a stroke. But he is able to do simple tasks. One thing he loves to do is build birdhouses. This Black and Decker 20V Drill is perfect for him. Because of his disability he can't hold the heavier cordless drill. And hand drilling is much too tiresome for him. But with this Black and Decker 20V Drill he has no problem holding it and screwing his birdhouses together. We are both very pleased with this new addition to our tool bench. It will get a lot of use. And I think the Lithium battery will give us plenty of power time. It holds a standby charge for up to 18 months! The added 44 piece accessories that come with this Black and Decker 20V Drill are a real bonus. Besides coming with 10 of the most used sizes of drill bits it also comes with a hand screwdriver that also converts to a socket driver with 10 socket bits. It also comes with 20 different size and shaped screw bits. Both the hand screwdriver and the Black and Decker 20V Drill bits have magnetic bit holders. So no lost or lose pieces. There is also a 10 foot tape measure and a level. Just about everything you need to get a project done.

Good Weight Drill, Battery Holds Charge 18 Months

There are three types of Philips drill bits, with (2) fine, (4) medium, and (2) square tip points. Also, (2) flat end bits are included. Nut drivers sizes are 5/32, 3/8, ¼, 9/32, 5/16, 11/32, 3/8, 7/16, and ½. The kit includes: (1) star Phillips bit; (1) small square and (4) large square tip bits; and (2) small, (2) medium, and (1) large, flat-sided hex, round tip bits. The ten drill bit sizes are: 1/16, 5/64, 3/32, 7/64. 1/8, 9/64, 5/32, 11/64, 3/16, and ¼ inches. The level has three bubble gages in one six inch, strong plastic form that has a hole for hanging. On both sides, the level has access through the center to one bubble gage. On the ten foot tape measure there are two hold buttons, one on bottom the other on the side, and a stop push knob. It is oiled and slides easily with both inch and millimeter measurement marks. It is a good size for carrying in my pocket because it is not real heavy and bulky. Two magnetic drill bit-nut driver sockets come in the set. One is affixed to a screwdriver handle, while the other fits into the drill. These work as extensions for the bits or drivers and keep them from falling out, as opposed to putting a driver or bit directly in the drill which is not magnetic. The nut drivers are not magnetic, however, so my roofing screws fall out if I am not careful. The charger is compact, not cumbersome, and it has four lighted signals. Solid green means fully charged, charging is blinking green. There are two red light patterns. A defective battery shows as rapid red blinking, and red long/short/long/short blinking shows that at the time the temperature is excessive. The battery should not be charged when it is higher than 105 degrees or lower than 40 degrees F as it can suffer damage. The cordless drill is also a driver, and it has forward and reverse variable speed settings for all kinds of work. I used the driver with one Philips bit for turning fence screws into slats on my wood fence, and the drill bit for making holes in a project for my pet cat. It has plenty of power, can go very slowly when starting or finishing a hole, and maintains one steady speed with ease while working through the material I am drilling. The light goes on when the drill works and it really helps shine the work area to conveniently see what I am doing much better than a drill without a light. What I like the most is the battery has four lengths of prongs that slide onto the charger, because I used to have a battery that only had two. When I slide it on wrong and charged it, the battery did not work anymore. Four slides help ensure the battery goes on the charger correctly. Thanks for that Black and Decker.

Broadening My Independence

Having my own project kit allows me to fix things on my own. No more waiting for anyone to find time. I've been fixing rods, broken slats on the rails and fences. Window rods. I'm excited and keep looking for loose things to fix. I've been wanting a kit for a very long time. This is a great add to my basic tools.
