A Really Great buy!
The wheat is clean and has an oxygen absorber packet in it to eliminate any weevils from the wheat. Weevil eggs are invariably in all wheat, but the packets take care of that problem. The pail is made of good, thick plastic. All-in-all, a great product. I bought mine at $15 & change a pail, but the price went up to $20 & change four days later. Still, this is a great deal since in states east of the Mississippi River, like where I am, it's hard to find hard, red winter wheat by the 50# bag. Bulk wheat in 50# bags would be much cheaper, even factoring in the cost of buckets, lids, and oxygen absorber packets, but absent that option, this is the next best way to go. No regrets, quite satisfied.

Not the wheat I paid for. They are mislabeling.
I just bought 8 buckets, spent 177 dollars and the grain in the buckets is NOT hard red wheat. They put red white wheat in the bucket and a red wheat label. I have been using red wheat for 15 years. It is not my mistake. I have a bucket of emergency essentials white wheat as reference. It is the exact same grain. This is not cool. Now I have 200 pounds of hard white wheat with buckets that say they are red. There is a big difference. Shame on whoever thought this was a good idea to do.

Great Product

Whether you are looking for better tasting food or prepping for the future, Augasons farms red wheat is a great place to start, It has a 25+ year shelf life and taster so much better than that store bought wheat flour. Unlike the wheat from the local grain storage this is bug free, rock free, and weed seed free.

Hard Red Wheat

I use this wheat for sprouting and growing fodder for my chickens. The wheat is very clean and sprouts excellent at least 95% maybe more. I have used grains from other places and had problems with it molding not with Augason wheat it has been perfect. Highly recommended for whatever you might want to use it for and you get a nice bucket out of the deal.

High quality seed, sprouts as fast as more pricy 'organic' seeds for making your own wheat grass, free of stems and trash. Just as high a sprouting rate as seeds sold especially for sprouting. Came in 30yr storage buckets. Very happy :)

wonderful !!!

It was wonderful !!! Very clean, I grounded some grain to make flour that same day I received it! My bread came out great, then I made some cookies! I will reorder when I need some more!!!!Both the white and red hard wheat.

3. According to the side of the bucket is it good for 30 years. That being said it also depends on where it's stored. Cool/dry place 30. Less than ideal will have an impact, however, I have seen where items were stored from the days of fallout shelters that were still good, which would be more to the tune of 40+ years in not ideal conditions.

4. I have read that it is about 10 years, stored this way.
