Not sure what I expected but it feels a little cheap. I lost the transom saver that came with my boat on my last trip out. Had it for ten years and not quite sure how it fell off but it was gone when I got to the ramp. Looked around for a reasonably priced replacement. This appeared to be the same unit an outdoors site was selling for about $15 more only I am sure it had that outdoors sites name on the packaging. I believe the unit is made from aluminum so it is much lighter weight than my old steel unit. Not sure yet if this is good or bad, time will tell. The pads for the motor side are actually more of a hard plastic where I expected them to be a hard rubber. I like the thought of it being adjustable but have concerns about the pin wearing out or shearing off. Was thinking about using the direct trailer mount but did not for 2 reasons. First, the rear cross beam on my trailer is too far forward for a good angle and second is my concerns about the pin shearing off and the bar hitting the ground. The gap for the roller mount is very wide. I have a couple of longer road trips coming up and am anxious to see how the unit performs on a longer trip and over time..
