There are 8 bars in the box. The bars are completely covered on all sides with thick chocolate. It is a semi soft bar, and absolutely tastes and feels like a long "peanut butter cup" candy! It's really a thick bar, and unlike most of the other "low carb or energy bars", it is not thick and dry and doesn't make you go running for a drink to wash it down. This is amazing, truly! I've never tried these bars before but I closed my eyes and honestly thought I was eating a candy bar! I really thought I was cheating on my diet. The chocolate coating on this encases the bar completely. I mean, there isn't a single area where the bar underneath is peeking out of it! And it's really creamy and really rich and tastes like high quality milk chocolate! I'll tell ya one thing in all honesty though...these are really filling. Seriously, filling. And I'm going to let you in on a secret....I'm a "big" girl, and when it comes to chocolate, I can seriously put it away, I mean alot! So, I was thinking, hmmm maybe this bar will be okay for an appetizer but I don't see how this is going to fill me up like a full meal would. BUT IT DID! And it's now been 3 hours since I ate the bar, and I've only gone to the kitchen for a bottle of water, not a thing else, nor do I have a little "stash" of goodies in my room, lol. So when I say something is filling, I'm dead serious. And I'll also let you know that I've been trying various "protein" bars and "brownies" with protein in them as meal replacements lately, most are the usual name brand varieties yet, I have NOT tried even one of the Atkins' brand. I guess I felt I'd be "sucked in" to their program way of doing things and would be expected to partake of all of their foods to lose weight. But I've recently found that while some, just a few actually, of the other various brands of "meal replacement" or "protein/energy" bars are really gross (in the flavor or texture department, lol), most of them are really tasty and chocolatey as well as lots of nuts and different textures thrown in there as well. However, I haven't had any of them fill me up so completely that I don't want anything else, even hours later. And when I say something like that, I MEAN IT! So, would I recommend these bars to someone else? OH YEAH! Even if you're not really trying to lose weight, it would make a great meal replacement for someone on the go who's busy and can't stop for a proper meal. It has everything you need nutrition wise, and extremely low fat yet tastes absolutely decadent! Atkins, I'm impressed!
