    Perfect pasta, great rice
Omg I really like this pasta/rice cooker! Cooking pasta on the stove I was constantly checking to see if the water was bolling. Checking too see that my pasta wasn't over cooking. With this pasta /rice cooker it beeps so you can add pasta, it beeps again when pasta is ready. You have options as to thickness, thin, medium and thick. I cooked mostaccioli on thick and it was perfect, not too soft not to firm. But perfect!

    Rice sticks to the bottom
I only cooked rice in it twice. First time I cooked white rice in it there was a stiff layer on the bottom, I thought it's the first time so maybe the inner pot'sncoating has stuck to the bottom of cooked rice. But, the second time again there was this sticky layer of starch that was orange in color just like when you let your rice cook for too long, but it was better than the first time . May be pasta will turn out better but I basically needed it for rice.

Cook rice or pasta the easy way

This well designed rice and pasta cooker will create up to 20 cups of cooked rice or you can pour in a 1 lb. bag of pasta. Markings for water fill are on the inside of the pot.

There are five cooking presets on the front panel and a warming button.

    !) Thin Pasta (angel hair)

    2) Medium Pasta (spaghetti / macaroni)

    3) Thick Pasta (lasagna / penne)

    4) White Rice

    5) Brown Rice

The exterior is stainless steel with a vented glass top that has attached heat protectors for tilting and draining with the lid on without burning fingers. The interior is lined metal with brushed aluminum bottom, and a non-stick coated container that cleans up easily for the contents .

Our first pot of brown rice went from start to finish in about 40 minutes, the results were perfectly cooked without any tending like you would expect when using a standard pot on the stove. This also leaves the stove free for other use.

We found no fault with construction quality but can't attest to longevity because we took delivery just last week, though it is guaranteed for two years by the manufacturer. Going by appearance it looks as if it will last.

A TIME SAVER AND GREAT COOKING TOOL!

The Aroma 6QT Digital Pasta and Rice Cooker is a great addition to my kitchen! It will be a great addition to yours as well. It comes in three parts: The lid, the pot and the cooking unit. On the front of the cooking unit are buttons for turning on the unit and choosing what you are cooking. I first started by cooking rice. I always have a hard time getting Jasmine Rice to cook the way I like it but, with this utensil, it comes out perfect each time. Next, I cooked two types of Pasta. First I did Angel Hair Pasta. It came out so good! it was not mushy but perfectly cooked. Then I tried Linguine. WOW! it was awesome!! I would definitely recommend this cooker to anyone who would like to have perfectly cooked rice and/or pasta!

Wow! Even More Useful than I Imagined!

I love this rice/pasta cooker! It is so easy to follow the directions and end up with perfect pasta and rice. I have tried every function available on this cooker except for the warmer function (since I use it for meal prep and we eat the food immediately, I have no need of it). They all produced delicious results. I was surprised at how well each of the pasta settings really did on every kind of pasta from angel hair to rigatoni. The white rice setting works really well for jasmine rice as well as for regular white rice. Additionally, the clean-up for this pot is astoundingly easy! I left the remnants of spaghetti sauce in it for two days, but was able to completely clean it in about one minute!

These are a couple of useful tips I discovered while experimenting: First, if you are cooking a prepackaged rice or rice-and-bean box, use the brown rice function and add a little extra water (compared to what the box calls for). You can even add the meat of your choice, just like you would on the stove. Second, you can boil potatoes for mashed potatoes- just use the thick pasta setting, and put the diced potatoes in when you start the machine. Third, you can even cook boxed mac and cheese- just use the thin pasta setting, and note that two boxes work best, with a minimum water level.

The only negative thing I would say about this machine is that the scoop that comes with it has markings that make it appear to be a typical one-cup measuring cup, but I measured it against four other one-cup measuring cups and found that it is actually only three-fourths of a standard cup. Other than that minor issue, I honestly found nothing to complain about.

    Great Rice Cooker

This is the best rice cooker I've owned. You don't have to worry about timing; it beeps at you when it's done. Measuring is so simple with the measuring cup included for your rice, and the marked measurements in the pot for your water. Rice is perfect when it's done steaming. And you can keep it "warm" for up to 12 hours. I've used other rice makers which dried out the rice and browned the bottom of the rice if you left it on "warm". And the pot is large enough that you can prepare an entire meal with the rice while it cooks. Just throw in your chicken, vegetables, etc., when you start the steamer. It's so easy. Pot has nonstick finish and cleans up quickly. I am very pleased with this product and highly recommend it.

Never Dreamt A Rice/Pasta Cooker Would Work

The original recipe I attempted was, far-flung and by most standards a challenge, brown rice. Got to know the ins and outs of this device. Aroma made things simple. It does require adjusting water amounts, but it did NOT scorch/burn the rice. After 30 mins I checked...kernels not tender. Added a bit more chicken broth and water (approx 1/2 cup more), gave another 10 mins and perfect brown rice. Each grain was so defined and not stuck, melded to its neighbors. Very pleased. Didn't even rinse or soak the rice. Great, easy to read instructions that are overall clear. The manual has ways to contact customer support team personnel. Remember the day when you had to have a pan with a very tight-fitting lid to get a good do on your rice? Not anymore. The vents are elevated above the insert pan on the glass lid. Weird. Wild. And the digicooker works beautifully. Great device.

    Rice and Pasta cooker

I pretty much gave up the idea of cooking rice especially brown rice and long grain rice, I never could cook it properly and it would either burn or be undercooked so I basically would just buy Minute Rice and even that was gummy half of the time. And my family and I make a lot of casseroles and we love Chinese food in stir fry but when it was my turn to cook if it was pasta or rice I would find something else to cook. Today I was pleasantly surprised I went and bought some brown rice follow directions it was quite easy only two buttons I had to push, you add your rice with the cup provided, add the water to the line of how many cups you want in the end, push it warm button and then push the button of what you are cooking and walk away. I am excited now to cook rice, no more burning scorching undercooked rice. And it is a nonstick surface on the inside so the rice basically just pushed right off of the surface minimal scrubbing. The unit also came with a really neat sturdy plastic rice spoon.

    Easy-to-use rice cooker

If you want an easy-to-use, no-fuss rice cooker, then this is the appliance for you. It's an attractive cooker; lots of chrome and black that matches any kitchen. Controls are very, very simple. You want white rice, press that button! You want spaghetti noodles, press that button. Turn it on, watch tv or go do something else, and come back at the specified time and your rice (or noodles) are done. I like the "hot mitt" rubbery handles built into the glass cover. When you pour scalding water out of the pot of pasta, the strainer does a great job (some angel hair pasta did manage to slip through the holes; not much though) of keeping you from burning your fingers. I would, however, not leave the kitchen when boiling pasta! (Just a safety issue for me. I mean, if you use a slow crockpot cooker all day while at the office, that seems to be ok, but boiling water seems to make me think that something may happen...maybe splatter causing a short or something. Just me.) I followed the instruction manual suggestions on cooking white rice (my main diet) and while it did cook the rice in the time it specified, I left it on the warming mode for another 30 minutes to dry it out a bit more. After that, the rice was great! I used the pasta button for boiling rotini noodles and they came out "al dente" at the specified cooking time. Draining was a breeze; carefully lift out and pour. The built-in strainer worked like a charm! (I still used oven mitts to grasp the pot because of hot steam as you pour.) With a non-stick coating, the pot was easy to wash up with a teflon scrub pad and hot water. One small issue; the measuring cup, even though the instructions states "one cup" it actually is only 3/4 cup. No issues here; just follow the directions and you'll be fine. I didn't give it 5 stars because I wish it had a "custom setting" where you can add or subtract minutes from the pre-programmed settings. But other than that, it's a great cooking machine. Next thing I'm gonna try is setting it to a pasta setting to make ramen noodle soup!

    Personal assistant.....

This is just like having an assistant in the kitchen and it does not even take up a burner on the stove. Very easy to use if you follow instructions and it has water levels on the side to guide you. After the rice or pasta is done it switches to a warm feature. Now you have to stir the pasta a few times but the rice is mostly set it up and steam it. I like my rice a little toasted on the bottom and you get that if you use a little butter or oil. Very happy I can work on my main dish while pasta and rice are doing their own thing, makes a big difference. Easy instructions and basically fool proof add pasta or rice then add the correct amount of water and you are done.

    Good for rice

I have used many rice cookers and this one works very well with rice. We use rice for one of our dog who has a very sensitive stomach. Because of the rice we need we have to cook the rice with extra water and once cooked we need to cook the rice again "double cooked rice". This cooker allows the steam to escape where our old rice cooker makes a mess all over the counter because the steam can't escape fast enough. Takes awhile to learn how to properly cook brown rice. Also don't leave the rice sitting in the cooker too long or it becomes hard.

As for the pasta....not a huge fan of cooking the pasta. Doesn't seem to cook the pasta evenly. Some is too hard while some is too soft.

Four stars because rice cooks fantastic but pasta is not the best.
