A fun and very useful appliance!
I received this as an early Christmas present and I have had so much fun with it! It makes excellent rice, much better than my stove-top efforts. I do believe that rinsing the rice is one key to great rice. I've had less browning on the bottom when the rice was well rinsed. Other than plan rice (I mainly use Jasmine) I have used it to cook Jambalaya and to steam chicken and sausage. I have also baked a cake in it, and have included a photo of the finished product. (recipe came from the Aroma website) I just followed the directions on the box for a vanilla cake mix, poured it directly into the rice bowl and used the "white rice" setting. I checked the cake and it wasn't done so I pressed "white rice" once more. After that it was finished and came out light and spongy. I later tried a chocolate cake mix in which I added a box of chocolate pudding mix and an extra egg, as I do when I bake a cake in the oven. That was a mistake as it took *way* too long to cook - over 2 hours. But still, it turned out fine and everyone loved it. There were some odors in the rubbery seal that lingered after cooking the jambalaya, but they did not seem to permeate anything else I've done it it. I just read a tip to put a box of baking soda in the cooker when it's not in use to absorb odors and I plan to try that. All in all I'm very happy with this product. I think for a "fuzzy logic" rice cooker the price is excellent. It seems very well made and sturdy and I love the black and stainless steel design.

Doesn't work on brown rice
I purchased it to cook brown rice since it has the brown rice feature. It didn't meet my expectation at all. I tested this cooker side by side with my existing regular cooker, with the same amount of rice and water. But the result is the same, the Aroma cooker didn't make the brown rice a bit softer than what's done by my regular cooker. Decided to return it.

The Lose Weight Cooker!

I absolutely love this product! Since my son has a Bachelor's Degree in Kinesiology and is a certified personal trainer, he recommended I get a rice cooker. All the research and affordability that I wanted I found in this cooker. My son only allows me to eat brown rice and all I do is cut up all different veggies and put it in the top steamer tray. I than wash the brown rice so it doesn't get burned and than add the water and rice to the bottom pot. Push the on button and than the brown rice button and it cooks itself perfectly! As soon as I smell the veggies cooking, I prepare a few skinless chicken breast in a frying pan with water and seasoning. Already started loosing weight and just love my little, "Cooker."

four thumbs up!!!

i bought this for my son who was wanting a slow cooker/crockpot, a veggie steamer, and a rice cooker. couldn't believe we found all of those in one!! he LOVES this thing. he's 33 and wants real food, not fast food or frozen food. he immediately made homemade pot roast (his first ever) -- turned out perfectly. he has used it so much and says it "ROCKS". four thumbs up -- two from him, two from me. it's total greatness. highly recommend!!

Just what I wanted

I've used this to cook rice and to steam vegetables and it worked perfectly. I haven't used the slow cooker feature yet but I'm confident it will work well. I was leaning towards getting the smaller model before I bought this, but from reading reviews , I decided to buy the 20 cup version instead of the smaller one and I'm glad I did. It works just as well for small quantities as large.

Excellent buy plus so versatile

Highly recommend! Good value for relatively low price. Bought one with the kids for wife on Mother's Day in 2015. Liked it so much that bought 3 more for married kids and their families and as well as one for my sister. Have used it just about everyday since. Primarily use for making rice. Would, however, recommend measuring water to make rice rather than using the graduatios on inside of pot. Use 2:1 water to rice ratio, reducing amount of water when making larger amount of 6 or more cups. Have been cooking veggies and seafood more often. Broccoli and asparagus come out with bright, appetizing emerald green look instead of Army olive drab overcooked and soggy appearance. When making filets, especially white, flakey fish such as cod, recommend placing parchment paper cut to fit and with several holes punched around edges. This will make it easier to remove steamed fish. Fantastic for shrimp and lobster. Never been able to make brown rice on stove top. With this cooker obtained excellent results. Have yet to use it as a slow cooker but like the idea of having timer to delay start time. Would definitely buy this cooker again as a gift should the opportunity arise.

Outstanding product

Seldom have I found a product that works as well as this one: large capacity, easy to use (even for me and I am not tech savvy), easy to clean, and excellent results both steaming veggies and cooking rice. The only slight drawback would be if you have a tiny kitchen; you can't get large capacity and compactness in the same product.

Aroma rice cooker

I LOVE this rice cooker! It makes perfect rice and so much more. I have made rice dishes that have been so good, and done so easily like spanish rice, jambalaya, arroz con pollo, paella. As wells as soups, veggies and even hot wings that came out perfectly cooked. I have bought 4 more for other members of my family. This is a must have!

Perfect rice; easy to use; great purchase!

I had a more basic rice cooker before, which I wore out. This one doubles as a slow cooker. It is extremely easy to use. The rice turns out perfectly every time. I like that the lid snaps down and it can be carried by the handle on top for easy travel. The large capacity makes it a good choice for pot luck parties. There are two small pieces that come off to be washed: a vent piece and a condensation catcher. They keep the cooker from making a starchy mess when cooking. They are easy to clean and taking them off makes the main unit easier to clean. This rice cooker also looks great and is cool to the touch when it is cooking.

GREAT PRODUCT

I MAINLY BOUGHT THIS PRODUCT TO BE USED AS A SLOW COOKER. I DO NOT LIKE THE CERAMIC ONES BECAUSE THEY ARE SO HEAVY. I'VE USED THIS AS A SLOW COOKER TWICE, AND IT WAS WONDERFUL. THE 'WELL' IS NON STICK, AND IT ISN'T EASY HEAVY OR BREAKABLE. I HAVEN'T USED IT TO COOK RICE OR STEAM VEGETABLES....YET. IT IS ALSO SO EASY TO PROGRAM. IT JUST 'FITS THE BILL' FOR ME.

Great Rice cooker for Rice Lovers

This Item is perfect for making rice, I tried to make perfect rice for years, but when I purchased the Aroma rice cooker the rice comes out perfectly just like a Restaraunt would make it, if you want perfect rice everytime you cook rice I recommend this Product you can't go wrong.

1. wiped clean
by sgwilbourn
2. No this top lid is not removable nor is the silicone seal. It is tricky cleaning it but I don't mind taking the extra time. I just use a scrubber a little dish soap. Then I wet a paper towel with water to wipe rinse it off. I suggest putting a paper towel inside the cooker if you have the liner out to catch any drips. You don't want to get the inside wet without the liner in it.
by PsychicVegas
3. It needs to be wiped clean!
by MommaWonderful
4. Read my review for the answer. Initially, I cleaned the inside of the lid with a 50/50 mixture of distilled white vinegar and water.

6. Not removable and needs to be wiped clean. And the starch water can leave residue that is hard to remove . And it has a rubber seal / gasket in the lid that also can not be removed and it can harbor odors .

7. It is not removable and needs to be wiped clean after each use.
by Wallmartz
8. Not removable and needs to be wiped clean. And since it isn't non-stick, it is a bit of a pain to clean the lid, especially around the steam vent.
by PickyPicky7201
9. The lid is not removable. It can be wiped clean with a damp cloth. There is a steam vent on the inside that needs to be removed after use and washed.
by Sakkano
10. No, the lid doesn't come off. I really liked the cooker but I returned it to buy a Sanyo that did have removable inner lids. It also has two cooking pots, each with its own lid. One for the slow cooker and one for rice. The coating is titanium. Walmart has it available only online. ECJ-HC100S The Sanyo 10 cup (20 cups cooked) rice cooker, steamer and slow cooker. $129.00. Shop around. I found it new in box, unopened for $56 plus shipping with a winning bid on a well-known auction web site. Sanyo also has an impressive round 3-way multi-cooker. Fryer, steamer and grill.
by metaspherz
11. The top lid is not removable. I just wipe it clean every time I'm done cooking. I also observed that only condensation collects on the lid and no starch water, so its easy to clean.
by MagUuma
12. The top is not removeable. Just wipe it down after using.
